#5953 Your least favourite Nightmaren from NiGHTS into Dreams...

Posted by Loren on 21 May 2007 - 08:41 PM in NiGHTS chit-chat

Puffy scares the carp out of me @_@ so I guess I vote for her. She'll squish you, with opera! The others are all okay, I guess, though I am extremely partial to Jackle. *hides from Puffy* <.<

#50517 Write to Jackle

I has a question: Are you over 9,000?

#42733 why don't people want it?

Posted by Loren on 01 March 2008 - 09:56 PM in NiGHTS chit-chat

We had trouble selling it at my Gamestop too.. then, a few kids wanted to buy it, but their parent/brother/group of friends mocked them for buying a 'gay' game. :huh:;

#42762 why don't people want it?

Posted by Loren on 02 March 2008 - 02:46 AM in NiGHTS chit-chat

I made the mistake of trying to explain the game to one kid's father. It horrified him even more. -__-; People are so closed minded these days. I actually had one person buy it three days ago without any gay comments or someone going 'don't you want racing or something?' while looking at the game like it's gay porn. It got to the point that.. an actual gay guy.. thought the game looked sissy ;-; and wouldn't get it.

#19619 Which of the NIGHTMARE Ideya do you possess?

Black. All that needs to be said.

#37060 What do you guys think about NiGHTS and the rest's voices in Journey of D...

Posted by Loren on 22 January 2008 - 08:49 PM in [ARCHiVED] JOD Discussion

I think.. LOL

"Let me GAOOOOO"

"WOTS OCTOPOW Doing Heaya"

Well aside from NiGHTS, and Reala, I liked the voices. Reala's had a case of minionitis. Helen and Will sounded cute. The Owl <.< he kind of annoyed me in general. They were okay but not great in general.

#19352 This is sad

Posted by Loren on 03 October 2007 - 04:58 AM in Community Corner

Looks like the love child of Star Wars and The Bible.

Most games that focus on The Bible are horrible. Example:

Posted Image

We actually had this game at our GameStop the other day! Ooh I was lol-ing.

That aside, I hate religious games. A lot of Christians hate them, too. Answer: stop making them! Makes everyone happy <.< besides, I bet God would be appalled at how bad those games are. Top man gives it a 2 outta ten, you're going to hell.. (heh heh heh, no one take that seriously pls ^_^ )

Seriously though, I remember when they made a game of 'Left Behind,' and how many people complained about the violence, etc.

Now, if they made a REALISTIC game based on maybe, the Crusades, it'd rival Gears of War with the bloodshed and rampant battles and such.. might sell well in fact. I can think of a few movies they could model this on. In fact, I thought Assasin's Creed is going to have somewhat of that setting *looks it up*

'The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history.'

Mmhmm, now that actually might work. I'd play it!

#19870 The Unofficial NiD Chatroom

Posted by Loren on 07 October 2007 - 01:12 AM in NiGHTS chit-chat

The NiGHTS chatroom is a palace of lulz. Butthurt folks beware. :P

Yeah it's good to have rules. This way the drama queens won't feel as inclined to spill their pent up anger there, amirite?

#5955 The transition between waking and dreaming

Posted by Loren on 21 May 2007 - 08:50 PM in Dream Discussion

All the time! I refer to them as minidreams. If I startle awake right after entering sleep, I can even remember patches of these 'dreams,' which are really just random sounds and images. Usually they have nothing to do with my thoughts before I go to sleep. Though, this happens to me whenever I'm dropping into sleep, not when I'm attempting to control the dream.

#17168 Sly Cooper Series

Posted by Loren on 16 September 2007 - 05:19 PM in Community Corner

Ooh nice, a fourth Sly.. well Purgy's the sly addict in our house, but I do think it's a cool game (the first one) with art/concept. I've never played the others but I ought to grab them sometime.

#19854 Sierra's Making Trouble

Posted by Loren on 07 October 2007 - 12:02 AM in Dream

The ensuing fight made Viel yawn, one hand covering his mouth with exaggerated boredom. The two creatures he summoned seemed more interested in poking at rides than attacking. His pose and gaze sharpened when he noticed the appearance of more creatures. How did an abandoned dreamscape fill so quickly. He contemplated stepping off for the darker 'scapes when someone bumped into him from behind.

"You're.. sorry?" he couldn't help saying. "You should be, hm?" The left corner of his lip inclined, a look too wicked and sly to be called smile. "What's a dreamer doing here, I wonder." Despite his cold manner, he decided to stay here based on this single event. Perhaps he might steal a precious memory to wear around his neck or else twist terror around this gaudy carnival.

"You ought to be careful. Maren aren't forgiving creatures. Whereas I, a muse, can accept your apology. My name is Viel.. what is yours? I'm sure it's not 'Sor..ry."

#19942 Sierra's Making Trouble

Posted by Loren on 07 October 2007 - 05:51 AM in Dream

Viel eyed the yellow orb with the pleasure of a connoisuer and restrained himself from plucking it out of her hands and devouring it, so to speak. Ideya held powerful attraction for him. Of course, the girl snatched it back right away. Quite a suspicious little thing. She needed distraction.

He eyed the two creatures pulled through a portal. They needed better prey than to blindly attack the fair rides. He sent a tendril of power through the two creatures, drawing them back to him slowly, slowly. He could lure the lowest class maren like this, at least.

Now to keep her put until they got closer. "Wherever did you come by that? Did someone give it to you.. did you steal it?"

#19735 Sierra's Making Trouble

Posted by Loren on 06 October 2007 - 03:51 AM in Dream

Viel rounded a corner to see an amusing situation. Several low-class maren seemed to be having their fun with another of their kind, while an indeterminate creature watched. A soft, low chuckle came from the muse's throat. He tugged at his caravat and then raised his cane to poke a hole in the dreamscape. Hopefully something else of amusement would come through and bother the two of them. Meanwhile he stood in sight, yawning, pretending boredom when he actually felt interested in the scene.

"Well look at that.." He noticed the cat just as a few glowing eyed, long-clawed creatures crawled out of the rift he made. "Hm, you two, I'd watch out for these if I were you." He pointed his cane with feigned innocence--he hadn't opened the rift, after all. No, not him.

#19724 Sierra's Making Trouble

Posted by Loren on 06 October 2007 - 03:26 AM in Dream

Viel fell, head-first, out of a dreamscape and landed, face first, on a seat atop the ferris wheel.

Maren could be so particular with 'sharing.' However, Viel liked to steal, not share.

The elegant, humanoid creature righted himself and brushed off the solemn coattails of his suit. A contradiction in terms of feature and laziness of gender caught people offguard when they met him. Shimmering blue locks dripped into a half-blind, gilded eye, a scar spreading like a star around the eyelids. The other eye, plain black, held a cold and malicious contempt and sly amusement for the dreamscapes it viewed.

The lips, full and disconcertingly black, pearled up in a bored little smile. This sort of dreamscape had little promise, but perhaps he might steal 'something' of interest. When the ferris wheel made its full turn, he hopped off, coat-tails flying, then brushed off his outfit as though the cheery circus motif had contaminated it.

"The gaudy emptiness has its charm?" he said without conviction.

Even the scents curdled his nose. Here the overpowering grease and overt sugar, there the hideous odor of rain mixed with pavement. The dull skies did make for a better look, he thought.

Some might confuse his genderless look and the maren who inhabited dreamscapes, though he looked decidedly humanoid. However, his true status was something like an inverted muse. Nor did he get along with Maren overtly, since he liked teasing dreamers with rampant nightmares.

"If only I had a little human to scare off amusement parks forever."

Sing-song, and cruel, though he sensed no humans about. For now he'd amuse his curiosity. Perhaps a dreamer would arrive latter.

#19947 Sierra's Making Trouble

Posted by Loren on 07 October 2007 - 06:11 AM in Dream

He sensed the power emanating from the glowing orb, could near taste it, as in a sense he meant to devour the thing. Unlike the powerful maren, he must gather energy in order to survive and keep from fading out of the dreamscapes. In part, his thieving tendencies rose out of necessity, but also pleasure.

The two dim-witted maren noticed the dreamer and started to advance on her. To them, she posed as simple a target as the ferris wheel or other objects. These two barely had a shape other than shadow, enormous hands, and big, stupid red eyes. Their ghosty bodies cast an enormous shadow as they rose behind her.

"Well, perhaps your Ideya can help with your friends there," he said, then gestured for her to glance behind.

#19858 Sierra's Making Trouble

Viel crossed his arms and glared at the girl's blank face. Oh how he wanted it to light up with fear, but he doubted the easiness of that somehow. His eyes narrowed, the golden one glinting, as he caught sight of something concealed behind the girl's back. "Ah, what do you have there." He advanced with little threat to his stance. For now. At the moment, curiosity ruled him. Besides, he never would have expected an Ideya from her.

"Come now, it's polite to share." One step put him rather close to the girl.

#18648 Shared Dreams

Posted by Loren on 28 September 2007 - 09:47 PM in Dream Discussion

I've done this, and not with a person I'd rather have shared a dream with--my angsty teenage sister (or she was at the time.)

A few years ago I wandered into a dream that felt quite unlike mine. Flat, rather cliched and random, with my sister as the main character. She was dying in a hospital bed and every time our mother apologized for being a b*tch to her, the heart meter would start working again. Total cheese. Everyone was slathering love and affection over her and begging her not to die <.< I was begging to wake up.

Anyway, when I did wake up, she started talking about her dreams.. recounting that one. I listened to it in shock but also annoyance.. I figured if something like that happened, it should happen with someone I'm close to, not a spoiled emo'ing girl. Well, anyway, that's that.

Oh.. also.. I've had a continuation of someone else's dream. Purgatory told me about a dream with these two boys in it, one was a wild kid--quite an interesting scenario there. A few months later I ended up having a sort of sequal dream to it that took place years later. That doesn't exactly fit but close enough ne.

#36596 Sega: Sonic's Fate

Posted by Loren on 20 January 2008 - 06:00 AM in Community Corner

All Right. I just played Mario and Sonic Olympic games a few days ago. After playing an hour, crying inside, then returning it, I started having deep philosophical thoughts on how and why Sonic games can stop being--well, very bad, and start improving. I haven't seen a good one since Sonic Adventure 1, though I have admittedly enjoyed a few of the bad ones. I just expect moar from something that was once as awesome as Mario. Instead of getting sparkly eyed when I put a new game with Sonic in it-- whether anyone else is in there with him--instead I question why I ever liked it. Which is sad. There's an RPG on the way which--I'm sure could be handled well. One can only hope. Ditto to the appearance of Sonic in Smash. Now I'm just curious what you all think a good Sonic Game needs. As for me, I think:

Screw the 3D. If it works, fine, but I want a return to tradition. I don't need an incredibly complex plotline with human princesses, alternate universes, or Shadow with a Gun. Just a good run through some awesome worlds, bopping things and some bossfights after a couple levels. Next-genizing it can be bad actually. The Wii at least needs a game like that. Take the basic idea from the DS ones and improve, perhaps.

Keep the decent new characters. Sonic Advance was a good old romp through the past, but kept some charas I've liked. It doesn't have to be just Sonic and Tails. But don't add any more. Anyone created after Adventure is probably best forgotten about.

Decent levels. DECENT. LEVELS. You don't fall off randomly or run into awful glitches. Aka.. spend enough time putting the final polish on.

Good storylines don't have to be weird. This is from a person who loves off the wall and can't stand normalcy. Yet, there was something compelling in the simple games, versus wacky AU genie stuff that made no sense and wasn't much fun. Or alternate time/future stuff to further complicate something that didn't work in the first place.

Chao are good. Keep those. The gardens and such are a great idea.

Ok, anyone else got ideas here?
