All Right. I just played Mario and Sonic Olympic games a few days ago. After playing an hour, crying inside, then returning it, I started having deep philosophical thoughts on how and why Sonic games can stop being--well, very bad, and start improving. I haven't seen a good one since Sonic Adventure 1, though I have admittedly enjoyed a few of the bad ones. I just expect moar from something that was once as awesome as Mario. Instead of getting sparkly eyed when I put a new game with Sonic in it-- whether anyone else is in there with him--instead I question why I ever liked it. Which is sad. There's an RPG on the way which--I'm sure could be handled well. One can only hope. Ditto to the appearance of Sonic in Smash. Now I'm just curious what you all think a good Sonic Game needs. As for me, I think:

Screw the 3D. If it works, fine, but I want a return to tradition. I don't need an incredibly complex plotline with human princesses, alternate universes, or Shadow with a Gun. Just a good run through some awesome worlds, bopping things and some bossfights after a couple levels. Next-genizing it can be bad actually. The Wii at least needs a game like that. Take the basic idea from the DS ones and improve, perhaps.

Keep the decent new characters. Sonic Advance was a good old romp through the past, but kept some charas I've liked. It doesn't have to be just Sonic and Tails. But don't add any more. Anyone created after Adventure is probably best forgotten about.

Decent levels. DECENT. LEVELS. You don't fall off randomly or run into awful glitches. Aka.. spend enough time putting the final polish on.

Good storylines don't have to be weird. This is from a person who loves off the wall and can't stand normalcy. Yet, there was something compelling in the simple games, versus wacky AU genie stuff that made no sense and wasn't much fun. Or alternate time/future stuff to further complicate something that didn't work in the first place.

Chao are good. Keep those. The gardens and such are a great idea.

Ok, anyone else got ideas here?

I think the RPG will be fun because from what I've seen Bioware are good storytellers and could pull it off.

But on everything else, I don't think it needs to convoluted epic plots, it needs speed and fun and top notch, multiple path level design. If they can do that in 3D that's cool but if they can't then 2d is just fine.

Or they could just stop flogging this dead horse and make new, good games.

This question comes up a lot for me! I could rant about it for a very long time but instead ill do bullet points:

1) A better more cartoony engine

2) Scrap almost all of the characters they are soulless and don't ad anything to the games anymore.

3) Either stop them talking or get a real writer because the dialogue is so corny it makes me sick

4) Give Sonic back his 'attitude'

5) Cut the over dramatics and silly story lines I just want Sonic protecting the animals from Robotnik and his evil ambitions of an Eggman Empire made up of robots, The story could go a bit deeper with character development but the basis of the story should be that and only that.

Ah, being a member of the Sonic community, these topics come up quite a bit :). However, I wouldn't use Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games as the highlight of your prospectuses. It's a spin off game, and not really canon to the Sonic series. The only spin off games that could count as canon to the series is the Sonic Riders due to the storyline and of the new characters - the Babylon rogues.

Usually, the 'demise of the Sonic series' starts at Sonic Heroes. Well, traditionally it did, but with the releases of Shadow the Hedgehog and then Sonic The Hedgehog 06, it's caused some people to reconsider 'SH in a new light. There has not been a console Sonic game that deserves 9s or even 8s since Sonic Adventure 2 (or, to be picky, Sonic adventure 2 battle) and that is what disheartens the community. Sonic is a cult classic, Sonic Team was something to be exalted by the fans, SEGA used to be cult classic, and now what is left is that while other SEGA branded games excel such as Virtua Tennis, Virtua Fighter, Sega Rally etc, Sonic is slumping. What makes it worse is that Sonic's slump is highlighted by Mario's platforming success. Typically upsetting.

There are a few gems in the sonic series that are currently out, for example the Sonic Rush series is quite epic and if you go back even then, the Sonic GBA games are quite nice to get out and have a little run in. This is just scraping the barrel though, Sonic shouldn't be limited to greatness on handhelds. We need strong console games too :z. Sonic and The secret rings is not a strong, 'true', sonic game.

Anyway. As for your suggestions: I would suggest to STOP making characters with every new game. It's quite a pattern. It leads to character abandonment in later releases or it loses focus away from Sonic, which fans hate. I wouldn't necessarily cut down the cast now, as there are quite a few fans that are quite attached to the characters. However, I would regulate their appearances and playability in the game. For example, people were happy not being able to play as Tails, or knuckles, or Amy, or even Cream in the Sonic rush games compared to the Sonic advance games. But they weren't cut from the canon at all.

The storyline should be more simple, with a subtle twist here and there, but definitely we need less apocalyptic storyline as it's been overdone heavily. Maybe some time it can be revisited in the future, but for now we can save the exploding moons and sun gods.

I agree with you on the chao. One of the features that makes SA2, and SA2B so damn lasting.

Level design is quite alright, I enjoy the level design. However, less bottomless pits and more exploration potential (and options TO explore, like collecting chao etc) plz. They tried to make the levels more expansive in Sonic Heroes, with Team Chaotix, but it honestly did not work as it was forced. More natural exploration please, like City Escape in SA2. Hell, even bring back Treasure hunting, and stuff like that for different gameplay option. But f*** no, do not bring back Tails in a mech. Silver's gameplay was a step in the right direction.

And finally, beyond all else, actually finish the game before releasing it :3.

Mmm, oh the woes with being a Sonic fan.

Agreed.
They TRIED to go back to their 2-D Roots somewhat with Sonic and the Secret Rings. Decent game, plot needed quite a bit of work, although it has its moments. However, there are moments when you want to throw your Wiimote through the wall.
Sega, if you're going to put in influences from lots of different cultures, fine, but try to keep away from the cheesy, cliché'd stuff like genies that follow you around the WHOLE GAME. Shahra VS Omochao. AT LEAST YOU COULD AVOID OMOCHAO! ... IN SA2! Sonic Heroes Tutorial, enough said. Sonic Riders, at least s/he wasn't annoying. Bringing back Omochao abuse is a step in the right direction.

Chao. Bring back the Chao Gardens. Chao can at least relieve some suckishness from an otherwise cr*ppy game.

A camera system that gives you a heart attack, in a good way. Set it up for 2-D view, most of the game, until it comes to a part where it looks like you're going to run into a wall. Then switch to a 'Secret Rings' camera angle for a certain amount of time. Think Fast-paced, automatic Super Paper Mario.

So many things, so little time. ... Bring in some Japanese influence. And no, I don't mean plunge Sonic into Japan! ... Although, for those of us in English-speaking countries, that could be funny as h*ll.

Sonic: I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING...!
Japanese Person: *In Japanese* Oh my God, a talking hedgehog!! Police! POLICE!!
Sonic: *Sees cops coming* 0_0 What'd I do?!

... Here's an Idea. Sonic around the World. Running up the Eiffel Tower could be fun. Running around Times Square... With the sides of the buildings themselves as the 'floor'. What was I saying again?

I think what they did with Sonic on the DS was really good. Got great reviews because it was 2D like his first games. Now like this upcoming game. Sega all star tennis. I think there trying to copy Mario in a way with all these sport games. Similar to the Olympics. Sonic didn't fail completely heck, the game did very well in sales so of Sega starts making all the sports games I think they should be fine, and the games wouldn't be bad. Now for the RPG game, i hope they can make a good story line for Sonic.

Ah, the quintessential problem...what could one do, I wonder? What I would do for a 3d game would be the following:

1. Have many levels (20 or so) that are all pretty different, and leave the special missions by the wayside
2. Take only the core characters: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman
3. Keep the homing attack, only make sure it always works
4. Get rid of all voice acting
5. Very few in-engine cutscenes, and use CG for the beginning and end
6. Do not focus only on speed! Just make it like the Sonic levels in Adventure 1, not 2. Leave in some exploration and minor puzzle solving, and have some speed sections, as well as intelligently placed shortcuts.
7. Make sure that the game is finished before release.

And presto! I would buy that game. Oh, well. As to Sonic's fate, I think that he will be with us for quite some time. Another great idea would be to take Secret Rings and add more alternate routes through levels, and make sure that we are going into a different section of each level each time. And do not put any dinosaur egg missions (or required missions period). That would work, too.

Oh, and I think that nothing in Sonic 06 was a step in the right direction.

They can keep Sonic in 3D if only the knew what they were doing. It boggles the mind how they've gone progressively downhill since Sonic Adventure 2. Insomniac would make a killer 3D Sonic game. As others have said, they need to keep the controls tight, scrap excess characters that don't perform any differently than ones previously established, meaning, in order to make Rouge and Shadow legitimate characters, they need new play styles. As it stands they don't really serve any purpose (sorry, Shadow fans, but it's the damn truth). I think Tails should play something like Ratchet; his inventing skills have never even been integrated into his play mechanic. Such a waste.

If they decide to keep it 3D, they should stick to the Sonic Adventure formulas. I LOVE SA2. SA1 was also very good, but the whole series went downhill from there. Well, Sonic and the Secret rings is a pretty good step forward for them, and I must say some of the bad games look pretty fun, but yeah. I'd also like to see some 2D games on the DS with SPRITES. YOU HEAR ME SEGA? SPRITES. NO MORE 3D/2D GARBAGE. SPRIIIITEEESSSSSSSS.

Having played most of the past-gen 3D sonic games, the improvement points I have are as follows:

1) Make Ivo (Not Eggman. It's a stupid and unfitting name for a villan.) the main villan. Not some random monster he dug up or unleashed, not his creation that locked him up in a closet, not some space alien that reminds me of Wizeman (ShtH had more than a few ties to NiGHTS, unless I'm crazy) and most certainly NOT some interdimensional superbeing that writes itself out of history.

2) Character development. Seriously, this is pretty much an overlooked topic of debate everywhere I go nowadays. Tails came very, very close to being independant of Sonic in SA1, in the same game Amy learned that she needed to go Sonic's speed and adventuring to get his attention, and let's not forget Gamma.

3)The graphics need to be honest with itself. No impressive CGs if the rest is going to look like the Dreamcast could've run it better. This is a major turn-off point in the games for me.

4) How bout some upgrades? Shadow's game introduced tougher enemies as the game progressed, which was good, but went entirely the wrong way with handling how to deal with them.
Instead of more powerful weapons, why not upgrade his homing attack?
Or give Shadow Chaos Spear?

5) Chao gardens need to make a comeback. It added tons of replay value and rewarded the determined.

6) Ivo needs to come up with serious yet non-serious machines like he did in the original games. Ball-and-chain anyone?

7)Manuverability. Not often though of is it? Sonic should be able to turn on a dime (or almost anyways) and shoud not be like Rocket NiGHTS. Or any kind of rocket in general.

In Sonic 06, sonic could turn on a dime... and it led me to run off a bridge in the demo. Not run off it like a thirty degree angle, I ran of the bridge perpendicularly.

BTW, to get an idea where I'm coming from, Flying Battery Zone is my favorite Sonic level out of all of them.

The big difference between how sonic controlled in 2d vs 3d isn't the third dimension, it's how fast he accelerates. In say, sonic cd, without the peelout, it took awhile for sonic to get going very fast.

But in Sonic 06, he's at his top speed right away. SA1 had the best control, IMO.

Aside from how the games control, the biggest problem is the level design. Why is it that on whatever planet Sonic's been on since SA2 there is more bottomless pits than area that can be stood upon?

Oh, and can Sonic finally learn to swim?

So many great suggestions guys! I'm sure the entire fanbase agrees on many of them, and if Sega's keeping their eyes open for fanbase opinions, we might get a word in edgewise yet!

As far as me goes? My sister and I would love another game about Little Planet. Sonic CD is, in our opinion, one of the greatest 2D games ever - time travel, exploration, kick-butt soundtracks, a totally different world - if Sega could capture these elements in a new game, that would ROCK. And there is so much potential for storyline in that game alone! Where did Little Planet come from? Can the Time Stones be used like the Chaos Emeralds?

They could do a final confrontation with Sonic VS Metal there too. One with a GOOD ending. "Because we're Sonic Heroes!"?? Way to kill the mood! XP Years of rivalry and that's all you can say? Man, if they pulled something like that in JOD with NiGHTS VS Reala, there would have been bloodshed!

Go back to their greatest classics, take the elements that made them fun, and put together a new game that expands on some history between the characters. (Time Stones, Little Planet, soooo much potential...)

Oh, and hand-drawn animated intros are WIN. ;D

1. 2D plz. If you want to stay 3D, MAKE IT WORK, unlike SOME 3D Sonic games. *coughsecretringscough*
2. Stop. With. The. Insane. Hedgehogs. Shadow and Silver I can deal with..But Mephiles? UGH. This is getting ridiculous! Can we please stop with the pointless characters?!
3. Chaochaochao.

I've read that the the Cry Engine 2 is being ported to the 360, perhaps they should make a Sonic game based on that. It would allow them to actually make stages that are both big enough for Sonic to reach top speed, AND allow for exploration. While Sonic Adventure 2 wasn't bad by any means, the levels had more in common with hot wheels tracks than Sonic levels.

If you haven't seen the intro for Sonic CD, here it is via youtube (volume is pretty high in this video)

That's what a 3D Sonic game should play like. (of course, I'm imagining the wall jumping to be in real time, like Super Mario Sunshine/Galaxy and Assassin's Creed rather than a scripted sequence, like in Sonic 06)

And get rid of the Homing attack. I can understand why they put it there in the first place, but it leads to it being used in somewhat silly ways, like the chains of enemies in Sonic Adventure 2. Something like the Floor Funnel from Portal would be much more useful. And less kill-you-randomly.

The Sonic OVA was able to create a full storyline by adding in two characters that were not in Sonic 3/CD. TWO. And the big problem with the Sonic story lines? trying to follow a three/ five act structure, like a movie.

And Metal Sonic is a much better rival than shadow.

First and foremost, guys, NO MORE DISSING SHADOW! Thank you.

As for the Sonic series in general, I think the following are the best actions to take.

1. Make a "real" return to your roots, not some half-assed idiot game like Sonic and the Secret Rings. The only good thing about that game was Darkspine Sonic.
2. Don't introduce new characters if you're going to focus the game on them. Focus on Sonic, with new characters as part of the plot.
3. Don't go back to cartoon art, such as Sonic CD's introduction. I like the 3D stuff. If you must go with cartoon art, take some advice from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
4. If you're going to do a storyline, do it right. No more corny crap. Make it epic, like something out of Final Fantasy.
5. Chao are good. I'd even call them better than the Nightopians from either NiGHTS game. You can actually raise them with a strategy in mind rather than randomly getting a Mepian or King Nightopian.
6. No more bottomless pits. Ever. It raises the question, "How did Sonic come back out of that bottomless abyss?" Falling into a bottomless pit should be an instant game over, not a loss of a life and just pick back up where you left off if you really must use them.
7. Use the Homing Attack sensibly. Destroying a chain of enemies to get to a hidden area is fine, using it as an attack is fine, but don't use it to home in on springs or other random devices. It should be JUST an attack.
8. Allow Chaos powers, like Chaos Control, if you possess a Chaos Emerald and are using a character with such an ability. Shadow the Hedgehog was a good example of this, but leave the Hero and Dark bars and such out.
9. A character's special abilities, like Silver's psychic powers, should have an easy control scheme. Let's say you have three buttons: [Jump], [Spin Dash], and [Ability]. If the Homing Attack is [Jump]+[Jump], then Silver's psychic power should be [Ability]HELD+direction, with a sort of automatic target like in Sonic and the Secret Rings.
10. No spin-offs unless done properly. Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity was NOT done properly. The Babylon Rogues are fine, it's the control, story, and the battle against ABIS-Master Core that killed the game.
11. Voice acting is good when done properly. The only example of this is Shadow.
12. If you're going to have a story, do it right. No overdramatizing things, and no "we must stop this thing or it'll cause an apocalypse" crap. Make it believable.
13. No more stupid sports games. Let Mario handle that. Sonic's all about speed.
14. Go faster.
15. Bring back Metal Sonic.

Up to Heros, they were all fun for me. I found a bit of enjoyment in Shadow, but looking back, it wasn't such a fun game.

What Sonic needs is to run back to its roots; no pun intended. Take Sonic 06, and make it what it was suppose to be, SEGA. No side-stories about playing as other characters; no complex stories with no characters; NO NO NO.

1. Take sonic, and put him in a game. You're just screwed SEGA if you can't do this T_T.
2. DON'T MAKE ANYONE ELSE PLAYABLE. He's good the way he is. Unless you can pull off something really good, just don't do it >_>, unless it's similar to Sonic's gameplay.
3. Make storyline take a backseat for once; make it make sense, but don't make it too deep. Make it based on an early concept.
4. Have stuff similar to the original; maybe even a 3D remake of the original.

I think that'd be a good game >_>. SEGA's trying to reach a new audience but wowing them, slightly succeeding, but leaving the older fans behind.

I can explain this.

He was summoned accidentally-on-purpose by Eggman in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. There's that whole story, and when he falls to Earth, he survives, albeit with amnesia. That's where Sonic Heroes comes in, and Shadow the Hedgehog after that (Shadow didn't get his memory back in Sonic Heroes). Then after THAT comes stuff like Sonic Riders. I haven't played the handheld games, but I doubt Shadow has amnesia still in any of them.

As for Shadow the Hedgehog itself, the basic idea is that Shadow goes off in search of the Chaos Emeralds, and when he has all 7, you get The Last Way as the last bit of story. The whole "choose your own adventure" thing was just the game's main gimmick, really.

But no, he's not really that generic. He's all about speed, like Sonic, but has more power from his Chaos abilities. For example, he has Chaos Burst, which is like a miniature Chaos Blast. We only saw this in Sonic X, assuming you watched the Japanese pwnage one rather than the horribad 4Crap dub. He threw Chris against the wall while on the ARK.

I though shadow's story was that he was created and raised on the ARK, alongside Maria Robotnik, to replace the first Ultimate life form, who I think is the Final boss of Sonic Adventure 2. But G.U.N. decided that they didn't want Gerald experimenting with stuff like that, so they stormed the ARK, and Maria was killed during the act. Maria made Shadow promise to save the world from some unnamed threat, then dropped him down to earth with the same kind of pod Eggman trapped Sonic in. then he was put in stasis. Eggman free him, thinking that he was stealing GUN's secret weapon, but he was actually freeing Shadow. At the end of Sonic Adventure 2, he presumably died when he fell from Orbit. Everyone, including Sonic believed him to be dead, even though Sonic had personally fallen from orbit before, and it didn't seem to do him any harm(Sonic 2). In Sonic heroes, he was once again in a stasis pod, only this time he was freed by Rouge (I hate Rouge, nothing you say will change this fact). He also said the second cheesiest line in the game, "Alright guys, We'll buy you some time so you can stop him with your super powers." Skipping ahead, to Shadow the Hedgehog, he's trying to find out who he is, with only a few of the endings being consistent with his prior storyline. If you're a good guy, he stops some... purple thing from conquering the world, so maybe that's Maria's unnamed threat. (How she could have known of this is a major plot hole, didn't it come from space?) Then came Sonic 06. Sonic 06's storyline is such a mess, that I'm not even going into it.

Holy crap, it's like a bad facfic. And his SA2 theme music makes me laugh. Perhaps you misinterpreted where I believe the quality of the Sonic series drops off. It's after Sonic's Icecap Zone, Sonic Adventure 1.

Sonic Adventure was so different Storyline wise from Classic that were Mecha Sonic to encounter, say, Shadow, I'd consider it a crossover.

Sonic Adventure 1, in my opinion was the last really good Sonic game. I did like Shadow the Hedgehog though, it was fun to play and I did not fall off of levels.

Which is my largest complaint about the new games, FALLING OFF OF LEVELS! Seriously, it worked in 2D but not nearly as well in a 3D environment. I would be much happier with walls around every level track.

I think the best thing Sega could do for the Sonic series is a total revamp things. Replace the CGI scenes (even though I do like them) with stylish anime. Sonic is a cartoony sort of character at heart and I think is easiest to imagine in 2D terms. The games should also be 2D and fast paced. Most importantly, make the gameplay FUN and INNOVATIVE. Considering how powerful modern systems are, there should be nothing technically outside the limits for 2D graphics. Maybe the Sonic world is one MASSIVE level and the "zones" are broken up into checkpoints. Maybe, even though the action is 2D, the player can turn down an alley between buildings and find an alternate route through levels. Maybe the world is constantly being changed depending on how many robots you allow to exist, sort of like the "Good/Bad Future" system of Sonic CD only closer to real time. THERE COULD BE NO LIMITS.

There were only a handful of times in the mega drive games where you could fall of the level. Indeed, Emerald Coast only had about three places you could fall to your doom. I liked emerald coast, windy valley, and Ice cap. The bosses were unfortunately, crap.

The idea of a single big world probably wouldn't work very well in 2D, to be honest. One idea I had was for there to be no loading times (Not a Sonic 06 joke), simply having the title cards pop up on screen in between zones. For example, in S&K, when you finish the flying battery zone, your character blows through a door and fall to the desert below. But instead of fading to black, then showing the title card, instead it could just show Sonic falling, and have the title name of the level overlaid onto the screen, like the act 2 title cards from the same game. Of course, this assumes a linear level structure, which I think is the way to go for Sonic.

But ya, Sonic needs a revamp. Sonic CD/3D ftw?

Do you want the horrid 90's talk back again dude? No thanks..... ;)

Compared to the stupid sh!t he comes out with these days? Yes, yes I do.

As far as I am aware, Sonic didn't talk in the 90's bar on the cartoons which I'm not even talking about.
But the booklets that came with the game promised attitude and you could tell that he was aimed at teenagers and they DID portray attitude in the way he would look at the screen if you left him standing.

Now there is no character development and the script is so lame and corny, saying stuff like "Where Sonic Heroes, YEAH!" or something to that effect... WTF is that?

I wish they would just let the characters grow up a bit. In 1991 all the way up to Sonic Adventure 1 Sonic could appeal to kids, teenagers and adults.... What does Sonic Heroes appeal too? Not even 8 year olds I know think that drivel is good.

Sonic Rush was on the right track then Sonic Team made Sonic Rush Adventure and everything they added to the formula made it worse.

Bioware is going to make a cracking Sonic game I can feel it, then Sonic Team will try and make a sequel and ruin it.
mark my words.

It's a bloody sad state of affairs.

I know that Sonic Team has been of a disapointment of late... Sega Tennis for example. There is a small faction of Sonic fans into Tennis, actually theres a tiny faction of the fanbase of all the characters who appear in that game whos into tennis and I am talking about those who actually artificially play Tennis on computer games than just actually going to there local gym and doing it.

Anyway point is arn't we jumping to conclusions and pointing fingers already?

Sonic the Hedgehog is my gaming hero, He inspired me deeper into the gaming worlds and someday I'll be a Brittish version Shigeru Miyamoto. If I make any fan games, I'll let you all know.

Anyway Just because Sonic Team has been on hard times lately doesn't mean we should blame the hero of the game. besides the best thing Sega is doing is trusting third parties to help like BioWare so Sonic RPG may actually be good!

But I know I could plan up a Sonic RPG np. :( I may actually make it someday.

I'll also be happy if the aliens Marauders come from another dimension than from outterspace.

Like maybe an ancient magical doorway that opens up by Chaos power.

hmm... Sonic's fate?
Death (and I used to be a Sonic fan but at this point I could care less)
but... how to keep him alive let's see...
first Sega should take a HUGE tranquilizer and shoot Sonic in the neck with it...
then focus on other games that are more... oh I don't know...
playable/creative/good?
then after awhile revisit the blue blur then ponder... "how can we make a GOOD game that either goes back to the basics, with maybe a little twist to keep things from getting too repetative WITHOUT screwing sonic over in the process... or make a game part way then PLAY it for 5 mins. and find out whether it was good or not (if the first 5 mins. sucked odds are the rest of the game will as well)"
Simply put Sega needs to stop being lazy when it makes it's games...

I used to go shoping for games and say "Hey, this was made by Sega! the ppl how made Skies of Arcadia and NiGHTS into Dreams!"
Now I see the Sega logo and think "hmm I'll ask if anyones played it if I can't get any info it's probably more crap"
truly sad...

1. ONLY Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Eggman and Metal Sonic
2. Side Scrolling
3. Sprites or AT LEAST Cell Shaded
4. Text, and very little voice acting (No Sonic 2006 or Shadow the Hedgehog)
5. Make the chaos emeralds very hard to unlock
6. Difficulty Levels; Easy for first timers, Normal for frequent players, And Hard for Diehard Gamers (And maybe an Expert mode)

A Genesis type Sonic game. Nothing fancy, just straight up old school Sonic!

Fix the camera controls

Fix the glitches

Fix the voice acting (get rid of 4crap actors except Dan Green)

Do something with the characters interesting (except Big, I never want to see him, his fishing game or froggy ever again)

Bring back the Chao! (Except Omachao, melt that thing down)

    Oh, and NiGHTS.
To make sonic good again

1.If they bring back the omochao,at least let us unleash our rage at him by throwing him at enemies like in sonic adventure 2 >:)

2.Bring back the chao garden, with a new garden

3.A cell shaded game,or,sprites in 3D,if thats possible

4.2D,but with 3D graphics,and 3D bosses

5.and go back to some of the games they never finished *like sonic X-treme* and try finish them for new consles.

and more, anyways,I don't want them to end sonic without at least one last good game,or sonic will go down as the worst game character in history.

This is still going on? I thought after everyone saw Sonic with a sword that everyone agreed the rodent was done for. Not even Bioware can help this character. I know I'm pessimistic but so what. There'd better be a demo for Unleashed because I'm not risking anymore money on a half finished piece of crap. Just the other day I was playing SA2B and all I could think was "Why didn't they just kill of Shadow and Rouge?" These characters are now annoying, lifeless, waste of data. They were once interesting but after the game they were created for was over that's when they should have been done with. Same goes for Silver, Blaze, and hell even Amy. I really would like to hear what Yuji Naka has to say about both Sonic and NiGHTS. I really do care about what the original Sonic Team have on their minds about the work they started.
