Hmm... sounds like Japan learned their lesson about today's Sonic games before the U.S. and Europe have...Apparently Sonic isn't as popular over there compared to the US and Europe...

I don't think so; from what I know, Sonic's always been less popular in Japan, even at the time of the Genesis/Mega Drive games.Hmm... sounds like Japan learned their lesson about today's Sonic games before the U.S. and Europe have...

. New video, it's a tutorial for the Wii controls (in Japanese but it's also accompanied by images of the Wii mote being used and Sonic's response to commands). Also shows see more of Spgonia's nightime stage. The music in that stage reminds me of the casino music from Sonic Adventure.

I dearly hope your right phosphorus...It looks like the PS2/Wii and 360/PS3 version are almost completely different games.
I dearly hope I'm wrong...I'm betting the wii version and ps3/ xbox 360 version will be the same in most aspects...

Don't worry about the delay, here's some copypasta from the JP site (This is NOT translated, it was on the site in English):
There are also a some new trailers, if you still need convincing, the easiest way would probably be via Gametrailers, aside from the stuff that was leaked only (like the intro). They also have a full level walkthrough of Mazuri (although they spelled it Missouri when they first put it up). I'm also almost positive that the Wii version will let you use 'cube/classic controllers. To Sonic fans living outside Japan,
In our previous November 7 post to this home page, we informed you that the release date of Sonic World Adventure in Japan on PS3 and 360 will be delayed. Based on that announcement, some fans living overseas have become concerned that there will be a difference in quality between the version of the game released in Japan and the version released outside of Japan. This is not the case and we apologize for this misunderstanding.
The difference in the international release dates is based on the sales strategy and the manufacturing schedule. There will be no quality difference between the North American/European/Asia release and the Japanese version. Please be assured we are doing our best to deliver a top quality experience to people all over the globe.
We still cannot announce the release date in Japan, but we should be able to do so shortly. Our apologies to Sonic fans in Japan, who we must ask to wait a while longer."
Sonic Team is proud to present you Sonic Unleashed (Sonic World Adventure). You will be able to experience the best Sonic ever in no time!
E: It looks like I never posted this, Sega's making a short Halloween special-esqu movie (like 10-15 minutes from my understanding) called "Night of the Werehog", not sure when it's being released.

So far from all the levels shown my favorites have to be China place, Holoska and Abadat/Adabat (not sure which is the right spelling). Adabat just looks awesome, and Holoska is reminding me a little of SA Ice Cap place.
I'm not sure what to think about for Night of the Werehog, it looks good but then again it looks good so...

The word "werewolf" is a combination of "were" (meaning man) and "wolf" (meaning wolf). "Werehog" then means "man-hog". Sonic was already a "man-hog"! Linguistically speaking, "hedgewolf" or "wolfhog" would make more sense.
(I realize nobody else cares but I have to complain!)

I have the most simplistic solution. Sonic the Hedgeh-- oh wait.I have an incredibly nerdy problem with the word "werehog".

Yeah, I was hoping that the medallions would be used to unlock extra levels, not be used to progress. Don't know how accurate his review is, the press in general has a talent for missrepresenting Sonic games (such as claiming Secret Rings came the closest to the classic Genesis games). The "30 minute Werehog stages" might be a bit of an exaggeration/guesstimation. We'll see.

Also, critics are killin' this game..

I've read there are actually many differences between the PS3/X360 version and the Wii version, but the PS2 version is basically the same as the Wii one.i was able to look at the article a little and it seems good, just hope the wii verion isn't much different,or i'll just sell that version and get the ps2 version,

I'll admit that the combat system for the werehog is just slightly better than I expected... but still extremely repetitive and that's bad... especially when it takes up to half-an-hour to get out of the stage...
Then Sega adds some tidbits of worthlessness by makeing you talk to people and combat scenes that require you to press a string of buttons in order... I've had more innovation in a 2 min. flash game on newgrounds than in those "combat scenarios"...
Sonic's speed levels are fun and remind me more of Sonic and the secret rings than Sonic Rush or Rivals... which isn't that bad
Sonic's Werehog levels put me to sleep in no time... And his voiceover SUCKS!
and please PLEASE somebody shoot Chip! I thought Omochao was annoying! but Chips made the top of the list in the first few sentences he spoke... congrats...

I'm guessing you're in Adabat too? I was blazing through the game until they said I needed 26 more Sun Medals to race to the temple haha.Got the 360 version its a good game the Sonic bits are great fun but the werehog bits just dont cut it for me. Still a good game though however i'm stuck at the moment since i need 11 more sun medels to unlock a day level yet i dont want to go through the werehog bits to find them. Oh well i got this far so no point in stopping now.

In Werehog mode, he's still anthropomorphic, so it still works.
But I still just call him "Dog-boy" during night missions and in the Gaia Temple.

The Sonic stages are good, solid fun. It's not classic style Sonic, but it never pretends to be; it's unashamedly new-style Sonic (though I'm not really sure we should be calling it "new" at this point when this is how the series has been/the direction it's been moving in for the better part of a decade), and probably the best example of it yet. A lot of it's runrunrun but there's also platforming and room for exploration with the Sun/Moon coins hidden throughout the stages (and hubs) and multiple paths running through each level.
The werehog is exactly what I expected and also a lot of fun, probably as much fun as the daytime sections. "Proper" platforming, swinging from poles, it's slower than Sonic but it's not nearly as sluggish as some people are making it out to be. It's really reminded me of the Prince of Persia trilogy from last gen. The combat has a decent level of depth with numerous moves and combos available; anyone calling it a button masher just isn't trying. Save, perhaps, for Tails' "race Sonic to the finish" gameplay in Sonic Adventure, this is easily the best new playstyle in the series' history; I hope it doesn't get discarded with the werehog, give it to Knuckles next game.
Hub worlds are a lot better than Sonic Adventure's and I enjoyed them, but they probably won't win you over if you just want to play the levels and aren't interested in exploring them and talking to people. Loading times are good. Game is very pretty. Artstyle suits Sonic perfectly; the hedgehog himself looks the best he has since moving to 3D and the cartoony humans work great and don't look the least bit out of place. Story is nice and simple, with cutscenes and character interactions being fun and light-hearted. Sega have dropped the overly serious/melodramatic stuff from the two Adventure games and this works really well. Music is great.

Eh, so far the best Sonic games of late, as far as the critics are concerned anyway, are the Sonic games made by Dimps and Bioware, not Sonic Teami think the game was definitely better than the majority of stuff said on this forum, you negative people! At least sega aren't ruining sonic like crash and spyro, albeit different developers took over those two.
And though it's true that Sonic's recent games haven't been as bad as those of Crash and Spyro, there is still the fact that their developers kinda threw those franchises to the wind, and if I were a Crash fan I would be lamenting the situation. Sonic's tragedy is that his own house, Sonic Team, has been the one responsible for his greatest blunders. Though SEGA management deserves just as much of the blame, if not most of it for the way they seem to treat what should be their highest priority franchise(s).

Eh, it was handled in a much more cartoony fashion back then. The SoA redesign is know as "Ass Face Sonic" around Sonic Retro.
