I figured since i have my music folder on my PC all seperated into 'mood' folders I'd ask for some more HAPPY JOLLY FUN FUN music. DiGi pointed out i have like craptasic amounts of emo pants that i no longer really listen to when drawing anymore. So reccomend me bouncy music that is fun to draw to and makes you feel good (NOT SUICIDAL OR ANGRY) lol.

Go on, i crave more HeYa's and Mi'la heeeeee's

I'll edit this later if anything else comes to mind, but I can say that Breath of Fire 3's soundtrack is jazzy and upbeat.

Get stuff by the Go! Team, which is insanely upbeat happy stuff that is awesome (Louis can attest to this)
Let's see... I think Genki Rockets would be right up your alley as well. (they only have two songs out though)
LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire and Battles are other bands well worth checking out as well (not OMGSUPERHAPPY) but inspiring nonetheless)

Really upbeat tune, good to bob around to : )

Vincent Vincent and the Villains - Pretty Girl
Just released this month, good and happy tune, catchy too.

Simple Minds - Don't you forget about me
Breakfast Club is the greatest movie ever, nice Hey's in this one : P.

Jet Set Radio soundtrack - Bout the City

Belle & Sebastian - I'm a Cuckoo

Gotta love some B & S

Ash - We don't Care
A wee B-Side, kinda anthemy.

Josse is almost right about Ultimate HAPPY ™... there's one other song that will get you in happy-bouncy-springtime-eeeeh~ mood, no matter how much you resist...

"Mr Blue Sky" - The Delgados. The original by Electric Light Orchestra is pretty good too, but I personally prefer this version. I used to listen to this every morning before school last spring. :0

I have the same problem as you, TRiP. XD But I'm sure I can think of a few upbeat tunes!

"Heaven" (VHS or Beta)
This one always puts me in a good mood.

"Television" (Hard-Fi)
Terribly catchy and fun to sing along to. XD

"Can You Feel The Sunshine" (Sonic R)
Very upbeat and optimistic.

"Let Me Be With You" (Chobits)
I'm not sure of the artist, but I heard this once and it is insanely sugar-happy. XD I kid you not.

"Catch You Catch Me" (Cardcaptor Sakura)
Ditto the above point.

That's all I can think of for now... sorry!

THANK YOU. I heard this somewhere and had no idea who the artist was~ it's fab~ X3

If I'm feeling upbeat I go for anything by The Fratellis, The Hoosiers and Sufjan Stevens~

Once and Never Again by The Long Blondes makes me happy.

Your Disco Needs You by Kylie Minogue... took a few listens before it really grew on me but it's excellent! Any of Kylies songs make me happy actually.

I love Arcade Fire but I certainly wouldn't call them super super happy... very much worth listening to though~ No Cars Go and Wake Up really make me smile as does their cover of Brazil. :3

All right, TRiPPY my dear, I went through my entire crazy CD collection and found you some good ones. XD Hope you like 'em!

"You Owe Me An IOU" (Hot Hot Heat) Terribly catchy and very upbeat.

"I'm Shakin' " (Rooney) Maybe not the most optimistic lyrics, but what an amazing melody!

"MOON MARGEURITE" (The Pillows) Quite a lovely song-- it always gets me smiling.

"Another Morning" (The Pillows) Yet another fantastic song by these guys.

"Disconnected" (Ima Robot) Can't get any more crazy-awesome than this!

"Nerd Alert" (The Aquabats) Genius. Cracks me up every time!

"Red Sweater" (The Aquabats) Terribly cute in a hilarious way.

"Shot Of Laughter" (Sugar Ray) A fantastically optimistic little song.

"Pacific Coast Party" (Smash Mouth) My ULTIMATE feel-good track!

"Last Train To London" (Electric Light Orchestra) Once again, a lovely feel-good tune. Almost as good as Mr. Blue Sky!

"SONIC DRIVE" (Sonix X OST) Awesome guilty pleasure. It's a fun song.

"On A Crowded Street" (Barbara Pennington) I don't know; this one just makes me feel good.

"Get Down On It" (Kool And The Gang) Yet another catchy disco tune.

"Take Off" (Bob & Doug Mackenzie) Not only is it horribly addictive, but it's hilarious.

"Stuck In The Middle" (MIKA) One of the most upbeat, happy little songs I've ever heard.

"Song Of The Viking" (Todd Rundgren) What a concept! The tune is catchy though.

"Emperor Of The Highway" (Todd Rundgren) The king of all nonsense tunes. The voice alone is genius.

"Os Quindins de Yaya" (Stanley Black/ Baz Luhrman) This just started playing on my WMA now, and it's quite amusing.

Well, I sure hope you find a winner among these, honey. I wanted to make sure I gave you the most optimistic list of music I could from my collection, and I really hope you enjoy the ones you listen to!

Happy listening, dear! <3

Happy music, eh? Heres a few personal favorites of mine!

The Edge of Soul- Soul Edge/Blade, Khan Super Session

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lIvZSpe8gE

Absolutely AMAZING Song, this one. Im sorry, but SCREW The openings of the Soul Calibur games- Soul Edge is where it's at, Baby!
Seriously, though, this is a really Heroic-Yet-Happy tune, And an awesome combo between Traditional Japanese styled music and Light-Key Rock... It reminds me a lot of something you might hear as an Anime opening, in a way. It's also very inspiring- It's helped me with a lot of doodling recently myself! The longer version, unfortunetly, i've not been able to find on youtube, so the In-Game version will have to do. Eh, at least it has Mr. Awesome himeslf, Captain Cervantes at the end!

We're Back!, Bobby Brown
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhXhy_pcg8I

80's FTW!!! A Little-Known track that plays in the credits of Ghostbusters 2, and i personaly feel is exceptionaly awesome, just because it's an Almost-Comedic Song! Note down the fact it's also excedingly very catchy.

A Mediterranean Call, Khan Super Session
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmOGWGNoIQs

The ultimate in all Calm-But-Happy Music, if you ask me. If anything, i think this track would fit NiGHTS Very well. Always have. This is one of those songs you could lull youtself to sleep with, yet at the same time it's just as Inspiring as The Edge of Soul. Or at least, i think so.

Thats all i got for now, im afraid.

Let us see how "in synch" our musical tastes can be...

Logan Whitehurst and the Junior Science Club is probably one of the "happiest" musical acts I can think of. You can download an entire album, "Earth is Big" (best 'starter' album of his IMO) here and more from juniorscienceclub.com. His absolute best work is on the album Goodbye My Four-Track and I HIGHLY recommend buying it if you can. Sadly he died a while back so there will be no new material.

Lederhosen Lucil is probably the happiest music I can think of off the top of my mind. She is a Canadian woman who dresses in lederhosen and pretends to be a cooking-obsessed German? Her ridiculously high pitched voice could be considered annoying but I love it.

YUKI is a J-pop artist I am a huge fan of that somehow manages to combine intense happiness with intense sadness to make fairly profound music, in my opinion. See if this video is to your liking (YUKI herself does not appear until the halfway point).

The Aquabats are pretty great if you are into ska at all. They are kind of like a G-rated version of GWAR and they are superheroes who sing songs about Midget Pirates and Fashion Zombies. Not everyone's bag but they can be pretty dang cheerful.

They Might Be Giants have already been said but they are a longtime favorite.
I also love all of Hideki Naganuma's work for the Jet Set Radio games and Sonic Rush... but I shall assume you are at least somewhat familiar with this already!

Happy Music eh?

*thinks*

Well let's see what's in my music folders.... Apologies if other people have suggested these ^_^;

I'm Gay by Bowling for Soup never fails to make me laugh XD
High School Never Ends, also by Bowling for Soup, does the same :P

Get the Party Started by Shirley Bassey (or Pink, whatever musical style you prefer. Shirley Bassey's Jzzy style is more my thing) is a good one because you can bounce around to it, and it's party stuff :D

Locoroco's theme song always makes me smile, it's brilliant :D The one with the kids singing is my favourite, but there are several different versions... hang on... *digdig* file 05 on this page is my fave XD

Hmmm... A lot of my stuff is more chilled than happy joy or emo rar XD

Most of what I listen to is rock that gets me pumped. Although when I've gotta have some happy music, I'll listen to stuff like Nana Kitade. A lot of the happier stuff is kind of girly, but I don't care. Like I've been saying, I listen to almost all kinds of music.

  • Interests:I love anime and games! I collect manga more than I do anime 'cause it's cheaper, though, and cosplay from time to time. Hopefully I'll have a decent Jackle costume done in time for Nan Desu Kan this year XD. I also like yaoi, DDR, um...pandas...and yaoi. I don't like mainstream anime much though; most of it isn't very good anyway....
Oo! Ooo! I know!

If you like Jrock at all, Gackt has some good upbeat stuff (as well as some gothy stuff and general WTF). My favorite upbeat songs by him are Vanilla and Marmalade.

In general, anime opening songs are happy-pappy. The openings (and some endings) to Inuyasha, FullMetal Alchemist, and Yu Yu Hakusho are very upbeat.

Anything by Bad Luck. I dunno if they're a real life band, but they're in the anime Gravitation (great yaoi anime btw). Very techno. I esp. recommend:

The Rage Beat
Spicy Marmalade
Rockin' Station

There's also another band in that anime called Nittle Grasper, who I think are even better than Bad Luck XD. 98% of their songs are hyper techno SPAZ. Recommend:

Angel Dust
Shining Collection
Sleepless Beauty

Lastly, most anything that's been featured on Dance Dance Revolution is techno and happyful. My favorite artists on the games are Naoki, DJ Taka, and Captain Jack. Very good stuff for when you need to be cheered up (or need to channel a caffeine high into something not involving super glue and bouncing lol).

If you want a song so happy and lighthearted it's sickening, give Caramelldansen a shot (J-POP WARNING). Xenon introduced me to it and it's been like a virus; every time I listen to that song I can't help but just smile (and occasionally start the dance...........which I won't post here for sanity purposes. >_>)

If you like this I think you'd enjoy "Boten Anna" and anything labeled "Smurfhits".
Marcoolio also has some songs that resembles this (with amazing lyrics. How does "It's summer and sun and we got short skirts" sound? Pure poetry XD) and I'd also like to recommend the Danish/Norwegian group Aqua if you haven't heard them yet..

Ah, the Caramelldansen... 99.9% chance of sending you into a music-induced sugar high. :)

Well, I would suggest just about anything from the band Ok-Go. All but a few of their songs are upbeat and happy-sounding.

A few others, off the top of my head:

Loser - Disposable Sunshine
Hoku - Perfect Day
Cherie - Ready
Madonna - Ray of Light
Pink - God is a DJ
Slumber Party Girls - My Life

And for laughs:
Treble Charger - American Psycho
Pink - Feel Good Time
Reliant K - The Pirates That Don't Do Anything

And then two from Japanese anime:
Motteke - Sailor Fuku, from Lucky Star -- (But the lyrics are a little strange when translated...) :D
Hare-Hare-Yukai, from the Melancholy of Suzumiya.

I like a little bit of everything, so my MP3 player is always packed. And for some reason, I group mine into 'happy' and 'moody' too...

As for Gackt, Tai, I prefer -BLACK STONE- when looking for upbeat music. :D

I have a few more, and, thankfully, They're all Non-Soul-Blade related. I PROMISE XD

NIGHT IN CHICAGO by N.G.O
I find this really rather Relaxing, as well as Happy, in a way. It's definetly Calming, that's for sure. Far more calming then the Original song's it's based off of, thats for sure! XD

Born Slippy by Underworld~
Well... The Start count's, right? RIGHT?! XD I wasn't sure weather or not to reccomend this one, but this is probebly one of the most imprtant song's to me, because it pretty much Sealed my love for music of this Style back when i was about... Ooooh, 6, i reckon, witch is when i first heard this. Shocking, i know, but i get the love of music like this from my Dad XD It never fails to make me smile, but i guess it depends on your Tastes, so take this one as a So-So.

Two Can Play at That Game by Bobby Brown~ http://www.youtube.c...feature=related
I really am unable to stop myself from Refering Bobby Brown, aren't i? What can i say, he might have become a Douchebag and Married the woman whom provided the most Annoying song in the world (The Bodyguard, but Whitney Hueston. Talented as she is, i can't stand that particuler Song XP) but Bobby Brown was a Damn Good musician, and this track is no exception.

Im not sure why, but this always sounded a tad like something you might hear in an Up-To-Date Sonic game. As a -Shock Horror- Ice Level BMG. Eh, probebly just me. Whatever the case, i blame some of my own Drawing Sessions on this very Track, and you'd be suprised how really Inspiring it can acctualy Be.

Sweet Child of Mine by The Lazy Boyz~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py71ADRNOwg
A Remix of a Guns and Roses, i belive, but i personaly prefere it, because of my taste in Music. This acctualy sounds a little bit like JTrace or JRave then what we're used to over here, and is practicly Sugar-Happy.

That's all i got for now! =P
