Music and dreams

This can also help with lucid dreaming. While I was cleaning out my computer I came across an old lucid mix mp3 which has a spacey ambient beat to it that I haven't listen to yet. Well I wasn't able to lucid dream from it but it was very influential by allowing me to get into a certain state of mind. Every time it spoke of "recalling" my recall target will instantly appear in my mind sight as if automatic. I will have to keep listening to it for a few more NiGHTS. If anyone is intrested I can upload the mp3. It's free anyways.
So has anyone had any odd/nifty/horrible experiences with music and dreams?

Aside from that, I've had two other dreams affected by music I've listened to earlier. The first was a music box playing the tune to "Once upon a December" and me singing the "first verse" (the lyrics were not the same as the original one). The second was a Zelda-like dream - I found a flute in a cave and played the NiD six-note signature on it to make something happen. This was the day after the JoD site opened

Nice......Yeah. I was listening to Chrono Symphonic from OCRemix, and I had been walking through a never-ending field the whole time, as well as seeing a number of events from the games.

Hmmm...perhaps the music I listen to at night DO have an effect on my dreams.

It's kinda funny that I have dreams like that, seeing as how I hate to sing in the waking life XD

What usually happens is that when I listen to music while I sleep, I don't dream at all. But, instead of instantly waking up, I slide out of sleep, and while this happens, I am still listening to my music, which for some reason sounds a whole lot better during this wake-up period then when I'm awake.
This same exact thing happens to me. I fell asleep to some of my favorite piano music one time and I slide out of sleeping into this half awake state, and it was like the music somehow fused with my consciousness and senses. Like the music was a part of me, like my thoughts and vision. It was absolutely incredible.
Sadly, I have a very hard time actually falling asleep when listening to music. I'm not sure why. Perhaps its because music stimulates my mind, and my mind is already going so fast that its hard to fall asleep.

However, I have yet to try that myself.

There all a collab of Newage, Ambient, Downtempo,Trance,Tranquil/meditation, space music. Some of them buffer in the middle of the night though and it kinda ruins the effect lol.
I rarely achieve lucid dreams from them, and sometimes they cause me to try to hard, concentrating on the music more than letting my self drift off. But sometimes it will relax me to the point where I can't feel my body and I will feel like I'm floating.
One time I kind of got scared because it felt like my bed was tilted on a 90 degree angle and i felt like I was about to fall off at anytime, I ended up getting freaked to actually believe it and open my eyes so I could see my surroundings lol.

I listen to music everynight. I have several bookmarked radio stations on Winamp specifically for falling asleep.

Ha~ I do the exact same thing. XD I even have the same kind of music bookmarked on my Winamp. (SomaFM?) Your situation with lucid dreaming is the same too. :x
The falling/spinning aka hypnic jerk feeling is what happen when your transcending from your wake to your sleep state. Stress or exhaustion can cause that. If you get that more then once then your chances of sleep paralysis is higher. Really creepy but it's one way of reaching to a Lucid state.

Or I dream life is a musical. Sometimes odd, but it's funny.
I always sleep with my headphones on, so.. Sometimes I wake up and the same song is playing. I can't really remember and specific dreams at the moment though. [That were music related.]

The latest one had really funny lyrics, "Porno Hill" being the name of the song I'm pretty sure.....but it had nothing to do with it aside from those words in that part of the chorus >_> I don't even care for porn. In fact, there were cars driving around, in time to the song, slamming into trees that were growing in the middle of the pathway, which wasn't a road but was a path in a park, and they were generally running around like a badly driven R.C. car....
But this isn't about my stupid dreams! Well....technically it is, but whatever.
When I listen to music while going to sleep, I generally don't remember any dreams. I honestly don't think I fall deep enough asleep to have one, I'm just uber relaxed listening to music. I generally wake up within an hour or so and turn it off. Now, if music gets played while I was already asleep, it becomes integrated into the dream. Whether the "story" becomes affected or it just becomes background noise, seems entirely random.
Whenever it does affect the "story" though, the "story" is generally completely unrelated, and it's just the mood that's changed.

Another time I had one after listening to Green Day's cover of "I Fought the Law" about me sitting in jail with a bunch of people who, well, fought the law.
One with Taylor Swift's "The Best Day", where my mom died... (the song's about how great her mother is.)
Another Green Day one, this time with "?Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl)" where I was basically running away from people because of treason, and them calling me a liar ... (just listen to the song. That was basically my dream.)

The Closest I've ever come to Having a Song in a dream, was when I had a Sonic Based one. Amy started Singing "Never gonna give you up" to Sonic, Then I wanted to Record this and Put it on youtube with a title saying "Amy Roll'd", But I woke up.

With music being such a prominent part of my life, one would think that I'd have some sort of background music playing or something, but not necessarily the case. I've only had two dreams that I clearly remember that have anything to do with music.
The first involved saving some baby elephant right smack dab in the middle of a tropical storm or a hurricane of some sorts. I suddenly got an idea as to how to stop the storm. What resulted? Final Fantasy X's "Song of Prayer," lyrics and everything intact, pure a capella. And the storm calmed down as I sang the second verse/chorus/section (I honestly have no idea what to call "hasatekanae kutamae" other than something along those lines). I have this big grin on my face, a bunch of sentient animals are praising me for a job well done, and I wake up with a smile and a higher level of self-esteem than my usual "don't necessarily care bout anything"/laid-back attitude.
The second? More gaming. I'm talking with an older and slightly altered version of Xion from Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days when I start hearing the flute solo for "Dearly Beloved," closely followed by the rest of the main melody. I had been asking her if she was going to "come back" or not (I forget the events before that part), and I don't remember Xion's answer...unless the song was the answer; I dunno... I got teary eyed when I woke up, too, partially sad about not being able to talk with Xion more, partially happy I remembered hearing the song. Heck, I even used to keep my GBA on all night with Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories in it and kept at the main menu just to have something nice and pleasant to wake up to the next morning.

Music isn't really in my dreams and I haven't experimented to see how it affects my sleeping. Period. Probably because music keeps me awake. >>;

I'm the opposite in this situation. It's not so pleasant for me because when I wake up while hearing music I start freaking out. Not all genres do this though. It's mostly rock music since I'm hearing a person screaming I start thinking something is wrong. I remember when I used RATM's song Wake Up as a ringtone. I woke up one morning and bolted out of bed and asked my mom what was wrong. It was kind of funny. What usually happens is that when I listen to music while I sleep, I don't dream at all. But, instead of instantly waking up, I slide out of sleep, and while this happens, I am still listening to my music, which for some reason sounds a whole lot better during this wake-up period then when I'm awake.

I think I recall some nights I fall asleep while listening to my mp3.. however when I wake up my head hurted and one earphone stopped working

And my brain doesn't listen too much anyway, because I still dreamt of having tea with the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland (yes, Burton's version, which, I might add, I have never seen XD) and the Mad Hatter. To which the queen said/sung something and I objected. Then rose my chair singing "I object! I object in the name of the Ho~~~oly~~~ Gho~~~~ost!" ... And apparently the Holy Ghost looks like Burton!Hatter. XD And no, the singing wasn't even remotely close to the tune of what I was listening to when I fell asleep.

I can't really sleep while listening to music, by a number of reasons, first my earphones start hurting while I start to sleep, secondly the cables start breaking in record time and they last about a week, and I'm not sure about using speakers!

Speakers are not that bad even though they don't have the same impact if the sounds is going right into your ears (it probably matters because of the sound waves in music syncing with your brain and such) But it still works in a sence if you are listening to some meditation or new age type music. Instead the room feels like its full of this magical air and you are immersed into it, you kind of create the mood in the room but its influenced by the music.

Speakers would be best just because I don't want someone to find me strangled by an iPod.Speakers are not that bad even though they don't have the same impact if the sounds is going right into your ears (it probably matters because of the sound waves in music syncing with your brain and such) But it still works in a sence if you are listening to some meditation or new age type music. ROFL right? I have woken up with the wire around my neck, not too tight though. But the headphones hurt my head if I turn to my side which is very tempting, but normally if I'm trying to dream I sleep on my back because thats just the best position for concentration.Speakers would be best just because I don't want someone to find me strangled by an iPod.

I hear music quite commonly in my dreams, usually toward the end. They're songs I've heard recently or that I listen to a lot. If you try listening to a song all the time, eventually it will make its way in there. XDNot too long ago I had a dream where some electronic music was playing and it was a fast paced type dream. I know I was not listening to that type of music because I remember putting on a different station before bed but it was cool. I don't think I normally dream with music IN the dream so it was cool. When I'm lucid I want to try and be at some rave or club and party all night long!
Enya and Loreena McKennit are the artists I usually listen to when I try napping. And if I'm not trying to nap, but all I'm doing is listening to this music, I often find myself nodding off anyways.I tried listening to music, but I paid too much attention to it and coudn't fall asleep. Is there anything I could find that's not to fast paced and instrumental?
