And...Helen is so damned frilly. I really do like her design, but I really wasn't expecting her to match NiGHTS frill for frill.

About the birds visible in the Helen screenshots, I was just thinking about how NiGHTS looks like he's riding them by grabbing their tails or legs, a la Twilight Princess. Personally, I really hope he doesn't have to use them as a mode of transportation, since he's supposed to be A) extremely powerful anyway and able to use the Rocket Persona Mask for super speed. Having to use birds, cool looking though they are, would feel very wrong in the game's overall style.
And on the Ideya Capture/Ideya Palace/whatever that thing that NiGHTS is apparently stuck in is: I rather like the new look, just because it looks like it came straight out of Myst III or Myst IV. I'm a big fan of that glass-with-gold look that they use so much, so it's nice to see it in the new game. However, I'm still quite flabberghasted as to its true function. As someone above me mentioned, there has been no direct mention of the Ideya yet, so how exactly does that fit in with the new game mechanic? Or, for that matter, the storyline?
Also, I just wanted to point something out: Helen Cartwright = younger Yurika ([link]) from Rival Schools. Having beaten the game Project Justice start-to-finish, it rather creeps me out to associate the new NiGHTS character with Yurika. *shivers* (her brother, and the reason I'm creeped out)

Yeh, i just read that. So...Night Pier, eh? You don't suppose he got the term 'Night Pier' mixed up with 'Nightopia'?
That's possible. I don't know Japanese, but I know an old Enix adventure game called "The Portopia Serial Murder Cases" that is sometimes incorrectly translated as "The Port Pier Serial Murder Cases."

Although as well done as the children were made to look, they could have been a little more creative on the designs. As others have said, they look like siblings. But all and all, I can't wait to get it.^^

*snicker* Are you sure that Will would end up looking like that...? XD But I do agree with Helen's connection to Yurika, thoughAlso, I just wanted to point something out: Helen Cartwright = younger Yurika ([link]) from Rival Schools. I actually like the way the kids look. They look believable to me. What has my interest is how young they are. Claris and Elliot were 15, but these two are 12. That's a whole new can of psychological worms, and it may affect how the story unfolds. Should be fun. ^^
I can't wait to see how this story unfolds.

Now that you mention it... My first thought was Metal Gear Solid. Which gave me some interesting mental imagesGuys. Bottom left picture of Helen's page. The one with the maren with eyes on its tail. Above the Maren's head is a yellow "!". If you play Boktai, you know what this (probably) means.

It says it contains music from JoD. If it's true, I'd have to say I look forward to JoD's music.

I'm sorta iffy about both of them being blonde, but oh well. For some reason, the pictures on the bottom of Helen's page look like some kind of boss, even though that can't be. :S

Elliot and Claris are not that detailed... yet they are unforgettable...
Helen and William are higher in details and graphics, and yet they are easily brushed off your mind...
thats only my thought about them though...

the only reasons for that are nostalgia and hair color.
Mostly hair color.

The only problem I have is that the character designs don't look very interesting. I'm not hating on them but they could have been a little more original. They look like twins and I'm kinda hoping they are seeing as how they look the same. Elliot and Claris were like anime characters to me and I liked that a lot. These kids seem like your "stereotypical" suburban kids. They seem... well... boring.
It was the whole thing about Elliot and claris being unnatural looking that soured the effect of the first game for me. I really cant say it enough. the pink and blue hair practically ruined them

Everyone had unnatural hair that they emphasized. Green crazy red coloured, some bright yellow-headed kid, I think.. It isn't unusual for unnatural hair colours to be completely natural in a game or anime. But I see what you, mean, I guess. I still say they're just taking a different approach this time around. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe more realistic things are your cup of tea. I can see a good number of people on both sides of this.
no. actually unrealistic things are more my thing, hence games like NiGHTS and Okami. But the thing with NiGHTS, is that it was a contrast between the real world, andf the dream world nigHtopia. IMO the best way to properly emphasize the difference, would be going from a realistic world with bleievable characters, as normal as possible, to the wild and wacked out world of nightopia. It is that contrast that to me would have made NiGHTS that much better if the two kids were remotely real looking. Instead they looked like they beloinged in the world of dreams because of their hair and strange looks. It wasnt ideal for what NiGHTS was trying to do. Beleive me though, other than to serve as a contrast in this game, I am not a huge fan of realism in games. But here, it would work.

I hope your right that it works. Well we all did ask for a sequel. I guess we should at least be happy we are getting one. They really didn't have to make one.

I LOVE the character designs. Not because they're great, but because they're not bad, and it's quite a relief after all this time just for that. We've waited a long time for this and to be honest I thought sega was just going to sh!t this game out.
All we need now is a trailer. I'm really excited to see how this game actually PLAYS.

Hm... I have come to the conclusion that every gamer in the entire world (with the exception of me) is a whiney bitch.

I'm sorry. People are just whiney because we don't want this to end up like the Sonic game on 360 and PS3.

If they do the cutscenes like in the original, with no voices, but very good music, I will be happy.

Excellent music enhances everything, but this is 2007. There is expectance of a story now. After SatSR, though, I don't doubt that SEGA can make a compelling story.I think that Helen and William have acceptable character designs. I just hope that they do not lavish too much emphasis on elaborate CG to express some sort of complex story. Just leave things simple and vague.
