Okies in the other topic that asked the members what gender they are someone suggested a new topic be made to see how you gender affects how you see NiGHTS gender. So here it is. lol I shall start it off I guess.~


Anyways I'm female, and have always thought of NiGHTS as male. ^^

I tend to think of alot of things as male though. lol Like for example when the cats have kittens I always refer to them as he's until I know for sure what they are.

I see NiGHTS as completely ambiguous in all regards. (S)he is genderless and ageless.

Fem/Androg. Simply cause I don't think they have actual physical bodies (they live in dreams), and since it was created by Wizeman... Well, would Wizeman go to all the trouble of deciding what, er, parts, to give NiGHTS when there was no need? XD And even if NiGHTS was actually dreamed up by Claris/Elliot or something, then... well, when you dream of things that aren't human, you don't generally dream about the gender, since it isn't human. Meh. That's just my view =) I tend to refer to NiGHTS as a he though.

Usually I refer to NiGHTS as a "he", but still see "him" as androgynous.

I voted for three.:

- I am male and NiGHTS is male.
- I am male and NiGHTS is female.
- I am male and NiGHTS is androgynous.

Why? Well, I see two explanations for NiGHTS's gender.:

He has no set gender. He is neither male nor female. He's just..... NiGHTS XD.

or

He can gender swap. He/She can switch between being male and/or female (Those who watch my dA gallery will be familiar with this theory if you know who Femmy SUSPi is XD.).

Although, the manual never clearly states whether NiGHTS is androgynous, male, female or what, so we can't right away assume he is one or the other, or all three for that matter. After all, Nightmarens can Shape Shift (NiGHTS becomes Mer-NiGHTS; NiGHTS becomes Bobsled-NiGHTS; Etc.), as far as I know, so I don't see why NiGHTS could not change his or her gender, looks, hips, waist, etc.; Whether Androgynous or what....!

Well in all honesty when I first saw NiGHTS I went "ooh she's pretty" but then something just clicked in my head and then I said "Wait... its a he" XD don't ask, this was a good couple years back when I barely knew much about NiD. But presently I see NiGHTS as a male. A very girly male XD

Well, canonly NiGHTS is androgynous, I think he can be either one, or neither, or whatever he damn well pleases. I just say 'he' when referring to him as a default, cuz calling him 'it' would be rude.

However, my human version of him is almost always depicted as a male.

I chose both "female and thinks he's male" and "female and thinks he's androgynous." I used to think that NiGHTS was male until I saw the Naka interview that states he's androgynous. ^^

Funny thing is I learned that I have a thing for bishounen long before I saw that article, so I was able to have a good laugh at myself while I read it. XD

Same here, I think all the Nightmaren can be whatever gender they want, even make new ones to REALLY mess with their dreamer's head...

Alright... here comes the speech.

I'm female (obviously), and I chose androgynous for NiGHTS. But, to me, that means he can be either male, female, or neither depending on the situation. The way he usually appears in the games, I think of him as genderless, leaning very slightly towards the male side at times (why I always refer to him as "he").

Oddly, anytime I try to imagine what NiGHTS would look like as a human, I've recently started to think more towards the female side. And not just a girl... a REALLY girly girl. But only as a human!

So I probably could have said I see NiGHTS as female, or even male, but I think androgynous covers it for the actual NiGHTS, and not any kind of version my own imagination comes up with.

I'm female, and I voted for the androgynous option. Though like most others here, I can sort of bounce between "he" and "she" because saying "it" and "NiGHTS" all the time gets a tad annoying.

Really though, the way I see NiGHTS changes practically every day. Sometimes male, sometimes female, sometimes neither or both.

I'm male and I see NiGHTS as androgynous though, it really depends on the situation and appearance (like, when I see NiGHTS with hair I think "okay, NiGHTS is a girl now").

I am male, I see NiGHTS as androgynous, But I refer to NiGHTS as HE, because I think he has more of a male figure about him, The fact that he wears purple and pink is what would usually sway people towards female, but dark purple is my favorite colour and I'm usually always wearing a purple shirt over a t-shirt and don't think of it as female at all.

I'm a female~ and I see NiGHTS as both, but it often gets confusing talking to people about it so I generally call NiGHTS a when I'm talking. Though I use to think NiGHTS was mostly female when I was little. I remeber calling NiGHTS "The Pretty purple lady!" (hey, I was 7! )

I voted the "I'm female and I view NiGHTS as male" and "I'm female and I view NiGHTS as androgynous". Two reasons:

• I am aware that NiGHTS, technically, is genderless, and he can change gender at any time, BUT...
• He's always seemed more like a guy to me.

This is mainly because of the fact that he looks more like a guy in my opinion (a somewhat feminine guy, but still), and so I normally refer to NiGHTS as "he". Because "it" would be just plain rude, as others have said before. And my imagination tends to make him sound and act more like a guy, anyway (...did I already say that?).

Male and androgynous. As far as I'm concerned, NiGHTS is an arbitrary-gendered being. For instance, he's gone female on me totally at random, behaved entirely that way for no reason at all, etc. But I normally see him as more or less male because, I suppose, I'm a bit more comfortable with the idea.

I'm a guy, and I see NiGHTS as niether male nor female. But I call him a...um...him...due to force of habit. When showing people not versed in the ways of the NiD, I usually call him a she so NiGHTS won't get ridiculed. It's also much better than saying "it". "It" seems disrespectful, and makes it seem as though NiGHTS is an object. And I love me some purple maren.

At first I thought he was a very fruity male, but that was before I even played the game, CENTURIES ago.

I'm male and while I know NiGHTS is supposed to be androgynous, I always viewed him as male. There are two reasons why.

A. Lack of body traits that are specifically female.

B. Attire that I think looks more masculine than femenine.

The latter is especially true after seeing the JoD redesign. A waistcoat with a cravat seems like male clothing to me, esspecially since I wear that combination on a fairly regular basis. I also see Purple as a masculine color.

NiGHTS has characteristics of girls and boys. To my mind, NiGHTS' male characteristics outweigh the female.

NiGHTS is an androgynous character who can easily walk between the male and female lines. Also, he doesn't really seem to behave in a strictly feminine or masculine way. But from my mind's eye, NiGHTS is a male.

at first i thought NiGHTS was a female but when i was playing sonic riders the announcer keeps on saying he. Yeah thats how i found out NiGHTS was male but i would also say androgynous too. I m just dont want to be way to confuse so yeah keep it as dat.

Actually, in my game, the announcer switches between masculine and feminine references to NiGHTS. Of course, they've also said "Sonic must have grown wings, because she's flying!" My announcer must be blind and have lived under a rock for the last 15 years. :|

Yeah I wouldn't trust that announcer, because all they really did was put a NiGHTS skin in it, they didn't even give him a voice. So it could say just about anything, since NiGHTS isn't really one or the other.

But I still call NiGHTS a he (that s/he thing drove me nuts in FF9) and mostly think of him as male. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because most of the game heroes at the time were male, maybe because there's nothing that strikes me as female (like huge boobs, thank you Lara Croft). Plus I always thought his little butt was cute and I'm not a lesbian. XD
