that exactly what i was trying to say, diogo.

something i forgot to mention... I babysit quite a bit, so I'm planning on printing out the pageswith the english text on good paper and make the book so I can share it with those kids, and they can see NiGHTS in there dreams. one time, I tried telling the story to a little girl and her (5th grade age) sister and the only thing we got outta it was i call the older girl Elliot all the time now and her little sister Reala. and, of course, they both call me NiGHTS now. :)

The book being re-printed with the PS2 Re-make, is indeed the same book that was released 11 years ago.

I have an original >: |

Sorry if I did not notice that you asked the question already Andersam and I am sure the book will make a great story. :)

I will definetly buy the PS2 version because of this book now as I really want to see it. :)

Wow. Looks like I'm a tish late finding this thread. But I'm always late around here; I find the forums oddly confusing, despite them being so straight-forward.

I'll admit I didn't read too much of this thread yet, especially since it's very late and I have to be getting to bed soon, but I guess I was compelled to comment because this brought back such a rush of memories from when we bought the book in the first place. I've got a lot of flashback images in my head right now of writing up fundraiser speeches, bidding on the auction, repeatedly crunching the numbers as donations came in, taking pictures of pretty packaging... Well, actually that's all secondary to when the book arrived in the mail at my house. I was like... afraid to touch it for a while, lol. I do remember that I spent a really long time just.. taking it all in. I think I very delicately went through it like 5 times before I finally snapped out of it and took photos for the forum to see. Think I also cracked a joke at one point about how everyone who donated got to "own a page".

If nothing else, I'm glad to see that this book is being so appreciated by the community as a whole, rather than just by TRiPPY alone. (Not that TRiPPY's happiness isn't just as important, but more love is always preferable.) It was a bit of a trick to orchestrate everything, but, this thread really makes me feel that it paid off. I'll definitely have to go back through here and read everyone's comments when I have more time and waking stamina.

I'm so happy everyone's enjoying the book. I want to say that I'm glad I could contribute to the site, but, it wasn't strictly MY contribution, as it could never have been afforded without the donations from the other people in the community. I suppose I'm really just glad I decided to take the chance and try, rather than doubt I could make the difference as usual. <:3 This thread's existance makes me glee. It's rewarding to see hard work paying off.

The book, IT'S BEUTIFUULLLL!!! Q~Q I so want to buy this! Must sell old stuff for money! XD

Wow! If they ever made the JoD storyline into a book, I think that would be very great! The cutscenes drawn into pages. Maybe it could also extend on the story more also with more plots and details. And also make it possible to buy in English in any book store! XD Or ANTHING possible to make this into a book, even if they sell it in japanese, I'll buy it for the pictures! @____@;;;

Lookie what I just bought :3

I'm TERRIBLE when it comes to money, but I don't care one bit, if there was a better offer at least I know I would spend that and possibly more if I had it, on the book. Although it would be nice to have it cheaper because as I typed this my bf got his new job and needs to buy clothes for it in which I would have to cause he has been jobless for some time now XD! Go figure but hooray, I'm sooo happy, I think I got one of the hardest things to get on my Nights collection list lol.

EDiT: Just noticed Jof's post about the reprint being the same, and it very well may be, but I noticed one diffrence, in all the pictures advertising the Dreampack, theres not one I have witnessed that has the original sleeve for the storybook (1 quarter the cover being gray and all that jazz)

and not to sound extreamley picky but I'm sure the publishing dates in the copyrights are different as well, I'm just hoping I was not scammed and if I was, take my advice and check on those two things lol.

Well done and I admit to being a bit gutted when I came back and checked ebay today and found it was bought.

I hope it provides you with many special memories. :o

Well it depends on what your looking for. The re-print that comes bundled with the PS2 game is pretty easy to find, and for a reasonable price.

Yeah and even if it leaves me with 50 bucks untill wednesday when I actually have sh!t to buy, I feel good about it, things have been so shitty recently and I consider it a form of good karma on my end, I'm sorry its making people feel icky about it, I did feel kinda bad because I'm sure there are more deserving people out there, but I actually waited a few days before getting it I found it and had money for it since Tuesday, I was 7 and without a chance at NiGHTS merch when it came out in the beginning >_<

I also went to Anime Boston over the weekend and found a copy of the NiD jap import there and thats what made me even ebay MiGHTS merch at all almost so sure I wouldnt find anything worthhile lol.

Its kind of funny how I found the panle, Sonic Boom was playing in the Dealers room and I just followed it as if I was in the lost woods XD they had TOOOOOONS of Japanese titles for Saturn and Dreamcast, there was almost nothing else, it was indeed win. I chilled with the dude that was selling crap there too and we started singing "Open your Heart" from SA XD

I dont think it is bad at all as you had the money and went for it which takes guts as it is quite a lot to pay. :D

I suppose your right Jof since I have the new book that comes with the PS2 game but like Diene I was only 9 so completely missed out too back in the days. It's funny remembering because I lived in Portugal and it was hard enough to get normal games and I never even done any importing until recently.

It is very brave of you to get it even though you have such limited funds which trust me I know how it is too but maybe ask the seller if you can pay in a couple of days. You need to survive in order to get a chance to see that wonder book. :)

Also like your story about finding SEGA stuff as it sounds like the stuff of dreams! :o

Also..... Reala looks alot more scary in this version. =( *trembles*

Hello there.
I'm sorry to ask this, but, does anyone know if this book is still being translated? Because I couldn't help but notice that the translation hasn't been updated for a while.
The reason I'm asking this is because a while ago I tried to translate the book myself and I've almost finished, but I'm not sure whether I should post my translation here or not.

Alright, I have completed the translation. I'll just post here the pages which are not translated on the website.
I'm aware that some sentences don't seem to make much sense, and there are some parts I'm not so sure about.
I did my best, but some parts were just too difficult to translate. Also, my english isn't perfect either.

Anyway. From the page showing Wizeman in front of NiGHTS and Elliot:

"... It's been a long time, NiGHTS"
"Uh?"
gogogogogo... Earthquake. Thunder roars.
And the light is swallowed by darkness, and black black darkness covers the surroundings.
Amidst that, only this single dark voice resounds lowly.
"... Having created you may have been a mistake, NiGHTS.
Nightmare is supposed to be your homeland. Why don't you follow my orders...?"
"Annoying annoying annoying! I follow no one's orders.
What I do is following my own way! I don't allow anyone to bother me!!"
"... Even if it is the Creator Wizeman?"
That voice, Wizeman the governor of the darkness? Elliot's throat made a gulping sound.
He strenuously keeps back his foot which seems to run away.
But, it's not just me. NiGHTS's foot is also shaking.
"Hey, Wizeman! Show yourself!"
"You're the same as ever, NiGHTS"
A low laughing voice seems to be heard from the bottom of the deep darkness.
Strong wind. The rain hit both people like bullets.
Don't be afraid, believe in yourself. Believe in me. We're invincible!
"Just as you wish, I'll show myself. Here I am!"

The page showing NiGHTS and Wizeman's hands:

Deep deep darkness wraps both people.
The darkness Reala produced is no match for this, these are overwhelming nightmares.
Black air, black odors, black worries, black feelings.
Fear tries to bud in both of their hearts.
"Uh...!"
"Don't close your eyes, Elliot! What is beyond the darkness, we'll ascertain it with our eyes!"
Both people believed. In each other's power. And, in their own courage.
"NiGHTS!"
"Elliot!"
It appeared!
Beyond the deep deep darkness, exists just a little light.
Darkness is not born where there is no light. Inside every big darkness, light necessarily exists.
"Dive into that light"
"Understood!"
The moment the hands of both people came into contact, their bodies were enveloped by a red light.
So, like when they dualized for the first time. And that red light shines dazzlingly even bigger!
"Whaat!?"

The page showing NiGHTS and Elliot in Nightopia:

"Yes!"
The other side of the broken darkness.
They knew. That if there is courage, there's nothing scary.
So, that red light. That was the courage of both people.
"... Well done, NiGHTS"
"Uh?"
That's Wizeman's voice! That guy still lives. Both people harden their bodies.
"... This time I have been defeated...
But if a weakness is born once again in your hearts, darkness will certainly be born again.
Any number of times, any number of times. Don't forget..."
Wizeman's voice echoes. NiGHTS looked up at the sky. An unnoticed ray of light.
Ah, NiGHTS thought. We have came back to Nightopia.
"Nightopia... ... was in peace"
"Yes"
The bright sunlight made them both remember the warmth they forgot.
Odor of the flowers, odor of the sun. Odor of the wind blowing from the south.
"So, didn't I tell you? I'm invincible"
"We are, don't you mean?"
They both laugh a little.
At that moment Elliot noticed that his body starts to disappear little by little.
The awakening is close.

The page with NiGHTS and Elliot about to shake hands.
(this page caused me a lot of trouble. There are some parts that I had to leave out because I just couldn't understand)

"Soon I will wake up. It was a long dream.
Thanks to you NiGHTS, I could find out important things"
"Idiot, you can't summon what you didn't already have.
You just didn't notice. The power of your courage, is wonderful"
NiGHTS's deadly serious face is amusing, and Elliot laughs as a medicine.
Thanks, NiGHTS.
The palm of his hand which is disappearing is lonely, but he can't talk about such things, and Elliot shakes his fist tightly.
"NiGHTS, can we meet again?"
"Well"
"What should I do?"
NiGHTS smiles.
"Think about such a thing by yourself"
Elliot also smiles slowly. NiGHTS extends his hand. Elliot extends his hand.
At that moment when both hands tried to come into contact, suddenly Elliot's body disappeared.

The line "Think about such a thing by yourself", is a reference to what NiGHTS said when he asked Elliot to get him out of the Ideya Palace (he said the same thing then).

The page showing NiGHTS and the Nightopians:

"Ah..."
Elliot has returned to the real world -- to the world where he should really live.
He had a strange dream, he may talk about these events to his friends while laughing.
Or, he may have completely forgot the contents of such a long dream the moment he woke up.
Nightopia's crisis, as well as NiGHTS.
NiGHTS, left behind alone, grasps softly his hand whose destination has disappeared.
You may completely forget, but you certainly touched this hand. Together, we flew in the sky.
"We're invincible"
A bright light illuminates Nightopia. As if there had been nothing at all.
The wind rustles, and the gentle melody sung by the Nightopians is heard.
"We"
NiGHTS looked up at the sky just once, and put his transparent flute to his mouth.
The sound of the flute resounded a little.
This sound is soft and beautiful, and rises higher and higher in the sky.
Just like Elliot and NiGHTS, when they flew together in the sky for the first time.

The page with Elliot in his bed:

Even without wings, you can fly in the sky. The answer is always sleeping.

The last page:

Inside someone's dream.

Kentilan, you are a f*!*ing saviour. Finally, after 11 years, the book has been translated fully : P.

Kudos to you my man. I love how Wizeman said practically the same lines when he was defeated in JoD as he does in this.
