But it's still got to have NiGHTS' typical happy-go-lucky feel.

(As my friend will not stop saying, SA2 was the begining of the end for Sonic. I fear he was right...)

As far as story is concerned, it should become more serious as the story progresses, it's a theatrical mainstay that's been around for as long as time itself. It gives you an attachment emotionally to the character. However, we shouldn't have NiGHTS turn into a depressing, self-important epic. NiGHTS definately has a good, solid story, but that could be corrupted. We definately need darkness, but not a blackout. Have drama where it's needed. It's NiGHTS, not Titanic.

I know "the Dark Night of the NiGHTS" is appealing to my inner goth. But I don't want a game aimed at tennagers who listen to too much Slipknot.

I vote for balence but with more extremes on both sides, maybe. So there could be a level that is as a vision of hell and another that is like heaven. Only hopefully not the cliche "fire & brimstone" vs. "clouds & harps" because that is a surefire way to lame it up.

I agree. BUT! Don't you think Reala should be voiced my Marilyn Manson?
KIDDING! that woud be terrifying, in a bad way

And the script writes itself!

Genius hahaIt would be funny to then carry that out to the 'logical' conclusion of NiGHTS voiced by Trent Reznor.
And the script writes itself!
Anyway I've said it once and I'll say it again. I'd love to see a NiGHTS game revolving majorly around Nightmare. They don't have to swear (God forbid) but I'd just like to see a NiGHTS game that features the unhappy side of the series's universe. Of course using NiGHTS's story of how the purple jester left Wizeman would be an easy plot to fit in with the games environment or should that be the other way around?
Right now I'm thinking a mix between Silent Hill and the film We Are The Strange(Youtube that if you don't know).

Hmm... that wouldn't be a bad idea, as long as Reala (who was a kind of fore-runner for Shadow the Hedgehog) isn't the main character, and isn't equipped with guns/various other weapons. It would be fun to see what Nightmare had in store. I think NiGHTS is due for a dark winding road of a plot line.

well, as long as it ends with those...tipical NiGHTS' heart touching endings then everything's fine (for me at least)

I have always believed that NiGHTS was once evil, obviously, created by Wizeman. I also believe that she was very close to Reala, which probably would have made her a bit of a darker creature. NiGHTS would have to learn being kind and generous on her own, because I doubt that it would have been taught to her by anybody. I have always believed that NiGHTS had an evil side that she had to fight, especially when she was angry or if Reala was around. Maybe even one day succumb back to the dark side after some seducing from Reala, who I imagine her incredibly close to. I like the idea that there is a dark side of NiGHTS that no one but the Nightmarens know about and NiGHTS won't speak of.

I would like to see that.
