Well... this was bound ta happen judging from how small the record was in London... kinda sad really
need ta figure out a way to put NiGHTS in the well-known vid. game char. category...

I still think the rules should have been 'outside of a convention setting' because it's kinda obligatory that people will bring cosplay to a convention. Our record was attempted outside of a convention thus making it harder to set in the first place.
But good job nevertheless.

I still think DiGi and TRiPPY did better.

Aww c'mon there HAS to be a NiGHTS! XD Didn't someone from these forums say they were going?

They probably said they were going but they didn't say they would be doing any cosplaying.
Ah well.

Booooooooooooooooooooooo. It's tradition now, every record attempt must include NiGHTS.

There were some really nice costumes at that one. We spotted the King and Queen of the Cosmos outside in the little park at the end of the first day, and a Heartless on Saturday. I also spotted one that looked like Chamelan from behind. Guy was wearing a green glittery cape with lines of poker cards all over it. I chased him down for a pic, but it wasn't actually a Chamelan costume. *pout* I got a pic anyway. Need to figure out how to get them off the camera so I can post a few.
I did go, but not in costume. Don't have a sewing machine at the moment, it's on my to-do list.

As well as it being on a weekday... only announced a matter of weeks beforehand... miles away from most people with no other event to tempt them down... Considering the factors London did damn well. Timed, planned and advertised better and it could have been huge. Our record was attempted outside of a convention thus making it harder to set in the first place.
I'd like to see the London Expo attempt it... but I dunno if they'd beat that as the vast majority of cosplayers there are manga/anime based, rather than games based. Expo got about 25k people through the doors this May - October is usually busier~ I dunno, it might happen. And it's not a convention setting per se either. ;D

25k?? raaa, that's a good turn out for a anime/manga convention.
Hmm. I get the feeling me and TRiPstah will be going to these in the future.

You should come - apart from an overall good atmosphere and tons of stuff to buy, a lot of indie artists attend to sell homegrown stuff - comics, crafts etc. Someone who was sharing my friend's table made a killing selling on the spot commissions (most of which were of a low brow nature it must be said XD). So you can earn back your trainfare down if you're wily enough.25k?? raaa, that's a good turn out for a anime/manga convention.

But yes, London Expo seems to be getting bigger each time I go - they keep expanding the convention hall and yet it gets more and more crowded each year~ I love it. You get a lot of tardy "free hugs" type teenagers but if you're amogst peeps you know it's an excellent place to be. 8D </talking expo advert>
And there's a lot of cosplay. Yes. Just to keep this on topic. Yes.
come to expo! >: D

We need to fund the N.E.M (NiGHTS enlightenment movement)*what? you expected something witty and clever? ptttp* make some cookies, prepare some blackmail letters, and raid these dang conventions!!!
ahem... well... I think we can bet too see alot more of these record breaking attempts for cosplay in the future...

I was at A-Kon...but I was dressed as Vincent Valentine
That's it! From now on I'll go to every convention I can in the central US dressed as NiGHTS, that way if a new record is set there will be a NiGHTS representation!!

Been looking around as a new event is happening in London next week and I've found that the A-kon attempt has not been recognised by Guinness.

That wouldn't make sense though. They were the ones that were putting it on.

LOL!!
Why doesn't this surprise me? Guinness can't organise anything. They're global offices can't even communicate with one another! XD

I'm not really sure but the only thing I'v ever found about this one was on Kotaku. Even the stuff for the new event mentions the old record of 80.

Damn, I was actually at A-kon the year this happened. I try to go atleast every year, even though I'm uber broke afterwords.
I feel bad for not getting together a game related cosplay to join this. I think I was going to skip out on cosplay, but my friends made me bring my Sanzo from Saiyuki cosplay. XD
I'm too tempted to make Reala's armor. >_o
