Thus people are able to make fake tickets to New Moon Island (or wherever you're catching the Event guys) and then create infinite Master Balls and infinite Shaymin, so when you check the details of where it was caught it looks completely authentic.
By giving the Pokemon out directly, they'll be in special Pokeballs and have unique Original Trainers, which proves their authenticity. (Admittedly, you can still fake those details, but it's much harder.
I don't particularly mind the Religion aspect of Pokémon now, it's no real difference from having magic in a game really. And I'd never thought of what the next legendaries would be, but your recommendations sound bang on, Bannipper! It is pretty entertaining how the Legendaries have gotten so much more powerful over the years... It used be a genetically modified Pokémon... now it's the Grim Reaper XD

I am not likening a lot of the knew Legendaries. Some of these just...bother me. They are trying to hard and they don't seem like Pokemon anymore. Especially that Giratina. What the hell is that thing?!
As for Darkrai, he may be powerful but will have some trouble against my Murkrow. Actually.....doesn't safeguard protect against sleeping and that kind of stuff? If that is the case then Darkrai just lost a lot of power. The only thing I hear good about him is that he puts everything to sleep easily.

Ah. I stand corrected. I got Darkrai from a small Toys R Us event. It was kinda disappointing because we didn't get the ticket to Newmoon Island. I prefer doing the fun in-game events and catching the pokemon myself.
Bannipper: Hm...Life, Death, and Afterlife. A couple years ago, I'd say it would be too touchy a subject for them to mess with, but now they've gone and given the games their own religious mythology, complete with a creation story, a god, escort to the afterlife, and everything. So you're probably right. I personally preferred it when they left it alone religious-wise.
I even named one: Riipier: The Abyss Poke'mon. Depending on if you were good or evil when you died, you will either be devoured and be sent to Hell or his eyes will open Heaven's door for you to travel to. Of course, you can go there yourself, but he's usually the one who clinches it. His types are Dark/Ghost. Whenever the sun turns crimson, then he is present. And sometimes, he ignores some souls and leave them on earth to become Spiritombs. And he is known for being feared. And thanks. I needed that. Also, I'll be thinking of the other two Poke'mon later.

Basically my question is how did it go from basic primary colors to precious metals and stones?
Nintendo on drugs, that's how.....

I have to ask, though. How did it go from Red, to Blue, to Yellow, to SILVER, to Gold, to Crystal, back to Fire Red, and Leaf Green, to Diamond, to Pearl, to Platinum?

Really though, I image they were referring to Gold/Silver as colours originally, then when they needed a third game, decided to use them as precious metals. They couldn't simply use other regular colours for the sequels because Green had already been used in Japan, and Pokémon Orange/Purple sound awful... XD
The evolution to Ruby Sapphire is simple, it's because they wanted to restart the series at those two games, so they reused the original colours, but made them more impressive.
Diamond/Pearl was just an extension of that idea.
What I find interesting is that Gold/Silver's (both metals) third game was Crystal (a stone), while Diamond/Pearl's (both stones) third game is going to be Platinum (a metal).
It is for me! XD Nearest a Pokemon event will come to my house is probably Northern Ireland, which is an 8 hour trip each way for me... but I guarantee you that I'll be on a bus up there as soon as one is announced! XD Pokemon is serious business. It would take two hours for me to drive to a city with a Toys R Us. So no....not worth it.
Who said anything about using them? I just want him in ma dex~ XD And while I also disapprove of Legendaries on my main team, Legend VS Legend battles can be pretty fun. And it always feels great to take down a team of Legends on Battle Revolution using my regular guys... XDYou should not use a lot of Legendaries in your team. Its kinda noobish.

OK. 2 hours may not seem much to you but its not my car. Its my boyfriend and he would drive. Not only would he not want to, he would get us so lost that we would end up in another state. Whenever I have to go to the airport, I have to take a special airport car shuttle because I cannot trust him. He still gets lost in the town he lived in all of his life! I refuse to get on a bus to and there would not be one going that far. I live to far from mainstream cities.
Oh well...if you are eger to complete your Pokedex then I understand. I don't want to. After it went above 150 I said forget it! There is no way in hell I will ever complete a Pokedex again. Not worth it to me....I just like to get what I like.

The pokemon designs themselves are lacking, too. They're too humanoid now. They look like Digimon. When I first saw Blaziken, that was what immediately popped into my head: "That looks like a Digimon." I'm not dissing Digimon. I like it, actually. But Digimon and Pokemon are two different things that should stay unique. I don't play Pokemon in order to play Digimon. I think what's lacking is a bit more of a natural feel. Magmortar may be strong (from what I've heard), but cannons built into its hands aren't natural. That's weird, like, sci-fi robotic/genetic engineering experiments gone wrong weird.

And I'm also not a big fan of Digimon Pokemon either, and Blaziken still annoys me too, as does Lucario... But on the note of Magmortar, remember Blastoise?

I also meant "giant pokemon giveaway" to include the special pokemon you can get in the new games fairly easily without cheats. In Pokemon Ranch, you can get a perfectly legit Mew, with Synthesis in its moveset, just by depositing enough pokemon to get 999 in the ranch (including the pokemon of the CPU). Then all you have to trade to get it is an egg. Battle Revolution's Electivire and Magmortar with the odd movesets are common, too. Manaphy, obtained only by beating Pokemon Ranger and doing an extra mission, has to be the most common event legendary ever (if it really counts as one). That Synthesis Mew might challenge it for the position, though. Everyone has a Pikachu with Surf and Volt Tackle from Battle Revolution. Of course, that was probably put in to make up for all the Surfing Pikachu from the 3rd gen that can't be transferred to Diamond/Pearl without losing their special move.
Oh, yeah, Blastoise had cannons. I always thought that a little strange, too. Maybe that's why I liked the other two starters better. Still, cannons on the shoulders, compared to cannons in the hands...For some reason, the ones in the hands bother me more. Don't ask why. I don't know, myself.
Back to Platinum, though, you think it'll have good music in the Torn World? I guess the soundtrack of the rest of the areas won't be revised, since they never have in the past, but I'm hoping this added area will sound better. Sinister and urgent, probably. I imagine you'll go into the Torn World with an important mission you have to finish quickly before all chaos ensues. The usual stuff. If it reuses the music from the Old Gateau and Turnback Cave, I'll be disappointed. The music of Diamond and Pearl isn't bad, per se, it just doesn't seem as impressive as the tunes from Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. A lot of it reminds me of...elevator music... Oh, and did I mention Pokemon Ranch's music? That's the most boring videogame music I've heard in my entire life. The 4th gen seems to be cursed, music-wise.
...I talk way too much.

Yeah, with the number going to almost 500 by now, it's getting to require too much time to complete the national dex. They should cut back on their legendaries a little. It's ridiculous. They've got 13 new ones in the current generation alone. They're not special anymore. Neither are ghosts and dragons, for that matter. 18 ghosts total, when there were originally only 3, and those were in a single evolutionary chain. In the same vein, dragon pokemon consisted of only Dragonite and it's chain at first, but are now up to 19. It's not as much as other types, but still...Everyone has tons of ghosts and dragons now. The whole 4th generation feels like a big pokemon giveaway. With the Wifi stuff, it's easier to get event pokemon. In a way, this is good. Almost every little five-year-old who wants Darkrai or whatever can get what he/she wants to feel special. In another way, this is bad. They are too easy to get. They don't give you bragging rights anymore. People are trading these things (and any legendary, really) for BURMY and MUNCHLAX on the GTS. Now I have a Mew. And my brother currently has two. Whenever he wants, he can get more. He's actually traded one before for some other "rare" pokemon. MEW! That used to be the most valuable one. It makes me want to cry.
The pokemon designs themselves are lacking, too. They're too humanoid now. They look like Digimon. When I first saw Blaziken, that was what immediately popped into my head: "That looks like a Digimon." I'm not dissing Digimon. I like it, actually. I know what you mean though. However I am happy that Mew is easier to get. I have always wanted a Mew ever since the beginning of Pokemon and now I have it! I don't know if its fake or not though. I don't care anymore. As long as the stats were not messed with then I am fine. (Darn thing started at level 20 when I found it if that says anything.....) Also I wanted it so that I could actually use it. Not some collectible thing. Its the only Legendary I use as well. Though I did kinda want to use Uixie. I love my Mew though......

And I don't see whats the real problem with generating Pokemon, they take forever to for one with good IVs and breeding for Hidden Power is next to impossible.
I'm not even going to bother with the dex, in game is way to boring, battling is way more fun.
Oh, and if you hack the item to sail to new moon island, or oaks letter to get Shaymin, the item itself does nothing without the event active, so they have to hack the event to your wounder card, then you can pick up the letter at a mart and then you can go catch it.
Most people clone and give out TRU events and the such on Gamefaqs, Serebii, Smogon, and the such, and even then, they are still considered valuable, mostly more for the ones that have good natures and IVs so that they can be EV'd for competitive battling.

Ranch's music is awful. Not to say that Ranch is the most exciting thing in world by any stretch(ZOMG! If I get 40 Rapidash, they form a carousel!), but they could have done something with the music.Oh, and did I mention Pokemon Ranch's music? That's the most boring videogame music I've heard in my entire life. The 4th gen seems to be cursed, music-wise.
Thinking back on it, I don't think I ever really listened to R/S/E's music! XD I always played them when I'm walking around, and thus didn't want to bug people, so the sound was always off. I am however a huge fan of D/P's stuff, there's some really catchy tunes in there, namely Sunnyshore and Route 215.
I also hope they have new music for Torn World... though I doubt it.
On a related note, is there any word on if you're able to get Dialga and Palkia in Platinum, or are either of them present?
Personally, I'm glad we're seeing the end of the Event only days. I'm disappointed that now we have to buy so many games to complete the Pokedex, but Events really wasn't a fair system. Just because you're fortunate enough to live in the right place is a bullshit way to award rare Pokemon. Think of all those poor Canadians who've never had an event! Or us Irish who've only had one or two! (in Northern Ireland).I also meant "giant pokemon giveaway" to include the special pokemon you can get in the new games fairly easily without cheats.
What I want to see if the Wi-Fi connection being used to give out rares... that's basically what they told us they were going to do.
Also, the downloadable event Pokemon has been around since Ruby/Sapphire. I got my Jirachi from Pokemon Channel, and in Japanese Colleseum bonus disks you can get Celebi.
I may take you up on that eventually... but I sort of had to butcher my team to make capturing everything easier, so I'm going to have to retrain my team first XDMy FC is still on the other page, if anyone wants a battle.

Today, Serebii.net got some stuff on new gym looks/layouts/mechanics. I think I'm going to enjoy this 3rd game after all. There's so many changes from Diamond/Pearl that it seems like it would be enough to deem it a separate game. I'm impressed with the work they're putting into it.

Yeah, that's the place where you fight Dialga or Palkia in Diamond/Pearl, the top of Mt. Coronet. Except it would seem that this time, Giratina is going to pop up there. Kinda like how Rayquaza showed up in the clash between Kyogre and Groudon in Emerald. Maybe Giratina will be a peacemaker, too.
No...Just no...He is obviously going to be an antagonist. Just like Mewtwo, the most evil Poke'mon of them all. And besides, he's called the Renegade Poke'mon for a reason, you know.

I thought he was just the pokemon version of the grim reaper. Renegade...I never knew the official definition until I looked it up three seconds ago. My vocabulary's getting bad. What exactly would it have deserted or betrayed? Arceus? There was a screenshot I saw of Cyrus, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina all on Mt. Coronet. Giratina is obviously appearing there after the others were already there, and it looks like it's blocking Cyrus, so I automatically assumed it was trying to stop him and help sort things out. But it's now occurred to me that it could have come for almost anything. Perhaps in Platinum Cyrus takes control of Dialga and Palkia with the intention of making Giratina appear? If he's looking to end the world, sending death incarnate after everyone would be a good way to do it.
I think that Giratina appeared unintentionally on Cyrus' part. Maybe Giratina has a plan of its own...hehehehehe...

Music!
1st generation was always great. Though the sounds we had to deal with were bad, I think the tunes in this generation were the best.
2nd generation was not bad but not too special. Tons of remixes too.
3rd generation music was AWFUL! I'm sorry but I could not stand it....
I like the 4th generation music quite a bit. Second best to me. Some took my by surprise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmkcfxFP7bs

There's a decently big update on Serebii.net now about Platinum (I just occured to me how annoying a name that is... we had R/B/G/Y, then G/S/C, the R/S/E, now D/P/P... How will we know what game we're talking about?! XD), namely the possibility of 2 on 2 Elite Four Battles, some new multiplayer minigames, the Battle Factory's return from Emerald and confirmation that the mysterious 5 Pokémon sillouettes are real.
For those who haven't seen em, these five guys are supposed to premier in Platinum, but weather they're new Pokemon or just new forms, no one knows.
They all seem to have a vague similarity to each other, and the spike and general geometric shape each of them has reminds me of Rotom...?

(Ranch is only worth getting if you really want a Mew to be honest. It's just a giant box, and there's more than enough space in D/P's boxes already)

And while yes, it IS impossible for them to have kept Diamond/Pearl compatible Pokemon hidden due to how thuroughly dissected the code has been over the years, there's still the possibility that Nintendo are trying to come up with another way to encourage people to buy Platinum. I for one have never bought a third version of the games, but sadly, I probably will if there are new critters.
Unless there's some way to add code to D/P games to include these new guys, they're going to stay firmly on Platinum and the next edition of Battle Revolution for a long time yet.
They did a similar thing in Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness for the 'Cube back in the day, where some new guys like Bonsly were in that long before any Generation IV games were released. However, that was a spin off game.

I think those are alt forms of Rotom. The little guy is supposed to be a bit of a big deal so they may have decided to add a few things to him. Also, the Castform idea seems likely too. Either way, it HAS to be new forms. They can't go adding a bunch of new Pokemon and this series has a lot to do with new forms for Pokemon.
Maybe we should revive the normal Pokemon thread so we can keep talking about these other things not relating to this thread.....Apparently not. But can we get back to the main topic here?

I also have a little site that has leaked photos of Pokemon Platinum, if no one's posted it up yet:

It's the one after Bleach: The 3rd Phantom overview.
I know someone on devART who drew Shaymin's sky forme, I thought it wouldn't become real, but I guess it did, in the Pokemon world!

Yeah, but the Bonsly wasn't really yours. It was a rental. There weren't any trading issues because it couldn't even go outside the Battle Bingo game. They did a similar thing in Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness for the 'Cube back in the day, where some new guys like Bonsly were in that long before any Generation IV games were released. However, that was a spin off game.
That's a good idea, YamiLover. It would make more sense now why Rotom has the legendary music and everything if they were planning to give it all these special forms.

He has a nice speed stat, giving him the ability to out run non scarfed base 90 speed Pokemon, most notable are Porygon-Z and Lucario, if Rotom has max speed.
Even with SPA as his best stat, it still is pretty mediocre for sweeping.
Then even though he has poor defenses, he is most valuable for use of supporting a team, mostly by setting up a screen, either or both of Reflect and Light Screen. Or he can run a double status set with Thunder Wave and Will-o-Wisp, any sweeper thats not E-Vire will not like a Thunder Wave, halving it's speed, making it almost useless, then Will-o-Wisp will annoy any wall that doesn't have Natural Cure, sapping away it's leftover recovery. And a burn on a physical sweeper, will half it's attack, making it very weak, and very easy to deal with.
Then another set Rotom likes to run is a Trick Specs set, stick on Choice Specs on it, and attack. But it's not going to do a lot of damage to special walls, like Blissey. But if you switch in on almost anything except thunder wave, you can trick the choice specs onto her, making her almost useless, losing her recovery, and losing to ability to toxic or thunder wave.
But Rotom can actually be really useful as a lead, double status lead can give some teams some trouble with Will o wisp and Thunder Wave.
And thats pretty much all Rotom does.
But everything Rotom does, Gengar and Mismagius do better, because they are faster and have better SPA. But neither of them can use trick. Even Banette gives Rotom competition in UU, because of his ability to boost his SPA with Calm Mind, and use Trick, which gives him a free Calm Mind if he tricks a choice item on the right Pokemon, Banette can also support his team, and Bannette also has a nice ATK stat, he can hurt something with a choice band, and if he's in trouble, he can trick it onto something.

And Bibarel = One of the best BP receivers. Ninjask passing attack and speed to Bibarel can sweep a unprepared team, and it can run mixed sets with enough EVs pumped into SPA, but base stats are really low, but it can out speed non scarfed Heracross, which can be useful sometimes.
