Agree completely.
Sagat is great again? How completely unexpected.

Hopefully things will be tweaked a bit on the console release for the sake of balance.

Oh great. I'd have to go to either New York or Penn. in order to play this game. Damn you Maryland and you're lack of arcades!! Anyway, how was the game? Was it awesome? Did it feel like the Street Fighter?SF4 Arcade Locator: <a href="http://www.eventhubs.com/articles/2008/aug...achine-tracker/" target="_blank">http://www.eventhubs.com/articles/2008/aug...achine-tracker/</a>
Well... seeing how I just recently got into fighter games (thanks to soul caliber 4) I haven't payed this game much mind... BUT now I'm intrigued... I haven't seen Street Fighter since I saw a few kids playing 1 and spamming that guys long range attack which name now and forever will elude me whenever I have the need to bring it up (Ryo was his name? I think?). Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to this one now so I'm gonna look up all the info I can... any tips you'd tell a newbi?
Going to stick this out there,Now now Snugs, if this is going to be Saifer's first Street Fighter, the last thing we should be doing is discouraging him from playing certain characters based on their (currently) highly debatable placement on a tier list. From the sound of it, he's not really Evo material at the moment so tiers shouldn't be an issue. Besides, tier whoring is tragic. I can't tell you how sick I am of fighting noob Cervantes players online in Soul Calibur IV.
You either mean he has long recovery time or most ppl who play as him simply don't wanna attempt a combo out of fear of being combo'edVega generally isn't a combo character
I always played as a custom Talim character (thats the kinda speed I like... giving the opponent no time to rest)... buuut I never actually had a chance to use Cerantes so...I can't tell you how sick I am of fighting noob Cervantes players online in Soul Calibur IV.

and if the prior is the case I will probably choose another character (speed doesn't mean much to me if I have to wait for another opening after every attack I execute it's safe but not fun)
I kinda figured as much... I know evasion will have a much smaller use in street fighter 4, but I want a character that, put simply, can throw a punch at the exact same moment as the opponent and still hit first... can pull his/her arm back after that punch and start with another before the other person can... can string together a series of quick blows and combos without letting the opponent so get so much the chance to inhale a breath...Because of this different emphasis, you don't get long strings of attacks that flow into one another and as such, you get a different criteria for what defines a fast character, namely movement speed. That's why people consider Vega fast, he moves like nuts. I can only name two characters in all Street Fighters off the top of my head who get around the screen as quick as he does.

I'm not speaking literal terms here but I think you get the basic gist of it...
Ahhhh, I see... I'm sorry I didn't see what you meant earlier but I get the picture now... Seems the best way for me to go is to find a character that controls the "spaces" that I want to prioritize and that I am most comfortable in controlling... I don't think I can truly "locate" my character of choice any other way than playing the game, unlike in some games... sorry for being a headache, and thank you very much for finding these vids... they helped alot in more ways than one.*sigh* I'm trying to tell you that specific kind of character doesn't exist in Street Fighter, metaphorically or otherwise. Everybody attacks at almost the exact...same...speed and everyone can string together a series of quick blows and combos. The thing that really sets apart characters is their ability to control space. Watch these following videos. Maybe they can better illustrate what I mean.
