In what ways are you most afraid of getting hurt: Losing my balance when walking up stairs, heights...
What region do you live im (USA, Japan, Europe): USA
What colors do you like: Blue, Light Blue, Black...
Do you have any environments you like (Forests, Caves, Oceans): I like Forests..

I don't want my maren scary looking... I want him/her to look more like NiGHTS

In the spirit of Kinsmanship, I will of course contribute. (I mean come on, I've done this for at least 8 people now. XD I enjoy doing maren designs!)

I've come up with some basic theories about Maren and identified the common elements. Though it's unusual that so many 'Nightmaren' would be so positively aligned. Considering how Nightmares are supposed to be scary dreams.

Not totally NiGHTS-ish I guess, but appropriate. I'm working towards a Maren version of this guy. Thought I might draw a very basic body for him first, and see what inspires.

Actually, I do have a little contest going here on the boards to give people a chance to draw him as a Maren for prizes. I was probably going to be doing a few freebies there too if anyone is intrested.

JJ Abrams has made a Giant Monster for America. Sort of like how Japan has Godzilla. I don't know the name of the monster yet, but I've spent many hours researching it. Apparantly the Tagruato company has been tampering with deep sea bacteria and using its properties to saturate a drink called 'Slusho' with it. Incidentally this also is connected to some kind of whale creature that a deep-sea drilling rig has discovered and antagonized. I'm guessing that an eco-terrorist group called TIDO is somehow going to be responsible for the company losing control over the creature, and its going to pop up in New York and be very unhappy.

WOOT! About 2 more weeks until 1-18-08, when the infamously advertised Cloverfield movie comes out! Sounds like it's going to be awesome! And I'm excited that America's getting its own Kaiju. One that's not cute and cuddly like King Kong. :blink:

As per our discussion in PMs, this is an example of what I feel would be a good fanmaren for you. It embodies the identifiable attributes. I've been thinking that Phantom Ursaking is a good name. Anyway, do what you will with it.

I wouldn't mind doing this, but my view on maren is intrinsically different from the standard point of view, and sureley would conflict with your original idea. If you're able to get an image reference, I might give it a try, but for now I can't help without bastardizing your vision.

Alright, I have a challenge for you artisty types out there.

OBJECTIVE: Design 'Rai' as a maren or other such NiGHTS creature.

RULES:
1. Entries must be of Rai.
2. Entries must be at least vaguely Journey of Dreams style. (This means more details.)
3. Entries must be your own artwork.

PRIZES: I'll hand out a full commission to the winner.
- Also of note, depending on participation, I might hand out modest freebies. (Assuming I haven't already done one for you.)
Prize Example (What I mean as far as quality.)
Freebie Example (These aren't guaranteed. But we'll see.)

NOTES & DESCRIPTION:
Rai is a tough guy. He's probably taught Chuck Norris everything he know. Or at least of that equivalent. Where Rai comes from a lot of people are afraid of him, due to his immense physical strength and ridiculous amount of firepower. He was originally concieved as a Mega Man type character, but like many OCs I like he's begun to filter over to other things. Now I want a NiGHTS version.

TIPS:
- He doesn't have to be a humaren.
- His favorite color is blue.
- Rai has muscles. I'd reccomend at least an attempt at including them.
- His favorite element is electricity.
- Rai is a very serious person. He does NOT 'clown' around. If you get my very unsubtle subtext.
- Rai's favorite animal is the Penguin.
- His favorite letter is M.
- His hair is brown and his eyes are green. Hair is optional on Maren. Eyes, if he has them in your design, should be neon green.
- In regards to the above tips, that's not an invitation to make a blue, muscular, electricity covered, non-clown penguin with a big letter 'M' on his face. Seriously. That would look awful.

Go for it.
And go ahead and post a reference image of your own Nightmaren when you sign up. Just in case.

Actually, if you look really closely, you can see that the background is warped slightly where Chamelon is when he's running away from you. You can just follow him until he stops and paraloop to reveal him. Even if you're off by a bit, you should at least find some cards that will lead you to him.
