Plus, I would need the help of many artists, so as to draw sprites and backgrounds..... wait.....hmmm......
Never mind, I'm sure you guys would help out.

I'm thinking of maybe making a NiGHTS RPG, but I don't know where to get free RPG software or how to hack games, so until I learn how, I'm stuck.
Google RPG Maker. You shall be pleased.

I've worked with that program before, but I wasn't too fond of it. I'd much rather hack an existing game, like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI, which both have a good base for making a NiGHTS RPG.Google RPG Maker. You shall be pleased.
If anyone can point me in the direction of something that might help me to do something like this, please PM me. It would be much appreciated, even though I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to go through with it.

Some links from Sonicology might not work though.
Sonik Sprite works good, and so does the Esreal Sonic Editor II.

Oh, uhh... hmm... I don't know TOO MUCH about hacking those games.
However, RPG Maker 2000 is really good. It's real easy to get into... barely takes 5 mins to create a quick battle with the default objects. Real easy to use too 8D!

Hmm... well... if you are willing to learn its language, RPG Maker XP lets you script whatever you want with it.
RPG Maker 2000 in itself is very powerful if you understand the language. One of my friends created a whole Hamlet RPG including cutscenes and a Moogle with the PS1 version... which is even less complex.

In all honesty, I havn't done anythign to it since the last update. I've been too busy doing other things. And in order to fully complete this the way I want it to be, I need to get a good grasp on how to edit tiles and suchlike, which takes alot of time.
So the answer is , there isn't one. It'll be a surprise for you guys when it arrives.

As archaic as this thread is...Will this be used through an emulator or be a standalone game? (It sounds so neet.)
It's likely that this will be released as a genesis ROM image, which means it'll be emulator-exclusive unless you have a Genesis flash cart or the ability to overwrite an old one.

And to answer everyones question, seeing as it was a ROM hack, it'd need to be played on an emulator.
