It was almost surreal when it happened but we had an earthquake today!

I was sitting at my desk at work and all of a sudden my chair was shaking and I looked behind me to see who was shaking it but no one was there! Then I looked around and all of the cubicles were shaking!

We all looked at each other and wondered what the heck was going on and then we realized it had to be an earthquake because people in other buildings and cities were saying that they could feel it too.

It's definitely the most I've ever felt from an earthquake. Years ago there was a very minor tremor that we felt, but the one that happened today was literally shaking us and it's pretty bizarre and scary and amazing at the same time! ^_^

I love experiences like this because it makes you realize how insignificant and small we are as a human race when we have no control over environmental disasters or acts of God. It really grounds me in my faith.

Here's a link about it from our national news site. It was a 5.0 magnitude in Ontario/Quebec Canada and I live close to Toronto Ontario which is about 500 km's away from the center of the quake. It was even felt in the northern states of USA. Thankfully there wasn't much damage or any major injuries.

Have you guys ever felt an earthquake??

I was just watching one of the History Channel's specials on earthquakes the other day.
Glad there wasn't too much damage... those things can be nasty.

Rumor has it, there were a couple of 'quakes when I was still living in Northern California... but I don't recall feeling anything significant.

When I was at work today, my manager was trying to figure out what the faint buzzing she kept hearing was from. I could hear it once she mentioned it, and we tracked it down to a roof support beam in our store. All six of them were resonating like that, and then a few moments later it stopped. This was about about 1:45.

Could it have been? Felt in Nashua, New Hampshire, USA, a straight-line distance of about 300 miles from the epicenter.

When I was younger we experienced something around a 5.7 centered maybe 200 miles from us? It felt (and sounded) like a gigantic dump truck was driving by our house for a minute. Then it stopped. Freaky stuff!

I'm jealous of everyone who felt it. I'm living in Buffalo (I'm less than 20 miles from the Canadian boarder) and I know several people who felt it, but I didn't notice it, nor did at least one of my friends. I just logged in to Facebook at one point and everyone's talking about how they felt an earthquake.

I feel like I missed out on something pretty cool. I was just sitting around, reading. :/

Apparently it could be felt all the way here in Maryland but I must have jumped in the air and stayed there for a couple of minutes because I didn't feel a thing.

I kinda wish I'd been close enough to feel it. I'm not too far from Maryland (VA), so I must have been barely out of the earthquake's range. I'm glad it didn't do much damage.

Being here in Southern CA, I didn't feel a thing. The earliest time (and only time I can recall right now; brain's kind...dead) when I felt an earthquake, was when I did an all-nighter of "The Legend of Dragoon" Disc 2 as a kid. One moment it's 2AM, the next it's about 5 when the room suddenly shakes. Stayed up till about 6 then conked out after finding out it was on the news.

Poor Quebec. First a gazillion forest fires, now an earthquake. :P

I've never felt the art move under my feet, but I have felt the sky tumblin' down, a-tumblin' down. ;)

Oh yeah! They said it could be felt as far as wisconsion. I live in the next state over, and we never have earthquakes. The faults are just too deep.
All we get around here are swirling vortexes of wind and cows they call "Tornadoes" XD

Apparently we're just outside the affected zone; I didn't feel anything in my part of Brooklyn. If I was further downtown then I may have.

Didn't feel a thing in this part of MD, will tell you that much. I knew all that poutine would come back to haunt Canada someday!

Some people around here say they felt it. I kinda doubt it was anything huge, though. I mean, Pittsburgh is a little far off.
