Most significantly I'm chipping away at Aleister Crowley's The Equinox Volume I. It's his gigantic periodical about all things esoteric/occult aka "the encyclopedia of initiation." I'm about halfway through number 2 (there were 10 "issues" in vol. I).

A guy from the British Film Institue did a book about Night of the Living Dead and the factors that led to it's creation and success. It's amazing that it fell into kind-of obscurity until the French magazine Cahiers du Cinema and Andy Warhol's Inter/VIEW rediscovered it as an art film. There's even a lengthy discussion about how Night reflects many of the "duck and cover" films and comics. It's fascinating.

I'm reading Watchmen and omg is it awesome! I found the movie hard to get into and quite half way through but I'm ready for round 2 after I'm finished, only a few more chapters left!

Alan Moore is brilliant. My "holy trinity" of comic authors are Moore, Grant Morrison, and Warren Ellis.
I can't wait for The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic - which will be Alan Moore's "modern day grimoire."

Banana by Dan Koeppel, for one of my college classes. It's about the history of bananas, how they grow/reproduce, how they're used, where they're used, and about a blight that apparently can wipe all the bananas out. I haven't read in very far, yet, but so far it's pretty interesting. I didn't know before that banana plants reproduce without other banana plants and that the offspring are genetically identical to the parent. I also didn't know India is really big on bananas. So I think this book won't be too much of a chore.
