An androgynous dream being who has, one way or another, brought together many wonderful people and has changed many lives in the process.

Gender-wise, it varies from person to person. I prefer the default "he" although I'll use "she" now and then.

I know that NiGHTS has no set gender, but for the sake out beeing polite, I use masculine pronouns. NiGHTS seems like just a flamboyant guy to me.

I think of Nights as a guy. He is in the role play games I do with my friends on aim.

'It' is used to indicate something that is inanimate, usually, and when used in the context of a person (although babies are sometimes an exception, it is often generally accepted to say 'what is it?' when asking a baby's gender) it is insulting and insinuates that the target is sub-human. Unfortunately, modern English lacks a good gender-neutral pro-noun, although in middle-English the word 'they' could be used to refer to individuals (not necessarily multiple people) and that usage is coming back in recent decades. In general, 'he' is generally deferred to for gender-neutral subjects like anthropomorphized objects (ex. teddy bears) but it varies. 'Hir' and 's/he' have cropped up a bit in recent years, but while 'hir' sounds okay, 's/he' is unpronounceable and therefor stupid. A back-slash is not a letter.

I've heard people refer to him as 'asexual,' and that is very much a misuse of the word. 'Asexual' means something that reproduces independently, they can pop out babies all on their own. For what we've observed in the games of throwing nightopians at one and other or nightmaren, they are not asexual because it takes two of them colliding to breed. 'Asexual' is also often used to mean someone who has no sexual interest, which is also incorrect, that's called 'non-sexual' if you don't want to be laughed or glared at at the pride-parade.

With NiGHTS, I think, for me, the question comes up as to whether he (for lack of a better pro-noun) would be considered androgynous (both male and female) or ambiguous (neither male nor female.) I lean towards ambiguity because I see him as having more of a pre-puberty, and therefor sexless for all practical purposes, quality. NiGHTS has a lot of the Peter Pan archetype in him.

I think that NiGHTS is androgynous. He can take on whatever the dreamer wants, thus making him both male and female until he can dualize and then become fully one gender. If he was neither, then he couldn't become anything, which is an unusual theory that goes against the Archie model. That tends to be accepted as the only canonical part of the comics, though it is, of course, open to interpreation.

(The idea of an asexual NiGHTS undergoing mitosis is pretty funny. )

What if Will and Helen met in their Dreams, And one of them Dualized with NiGHTS? Would NiGHTS be the gender of the Dualized dreamer? Would it be the gender of the Non Dualized dreamer? Or does the gender just matter by Who's Perspective your Following?

I was gonna do a New Years resolution for myself for this year, based on NiGHTS.

See, NiGHTS is whatever gender you see and i've always kinda seen NiGHTS more as a girl. Only in the last 4 years or so have i been refering to NiGHTS as a he for the sake of this fanbase and for the sake of keeping 'conversation' less complicated. But i do see NiGHTS as more female than male, though i still see both aspects in NiGHTS. I see male aspects but i see more female characteristics.

So, for a year i was going to try and go back to refering to NiGHTS as a 'she'. But then i changed my mind as it'll just make things confusing so i'll just stick to refering to NiGHTS as a 'he'.

In short, in my eyes, NiGHTS is still whatever gender you choose, and i see slight male apsects but i see more female qualities in the character.

-You know, NiGHTS' voice actor In Journey Of Dreams almost kill'd the mystery for me. It was overly feminine and it didn't sound not good, but still. NiGHTS should not speak any dialogue, it's alot cooler as a character that just makes grunts or says nothing at all.-

I thought the voice actor sounded good for the Androgynous purple jester we all know.
It sorta sounded like a mix of a British female Teenager , While it also sounded like a young little boy With a heavy accent

To me, if it dresses like a girl(pink... and purple), have a lean and slender body like a girl, big eyelashes like some girls, and a girl's voice... Then it's a girl.

I cannot look at NiGHTS(from NiD or JoD) and see a boy.
