Back on subject, the only thing I dislike about NiGHTS' new costume is that his color is red instead of purple now. Also, you can't really see that he doesn't have a neck anymore. Ah well, I'm just splitting hairs.

I think NiGHTS jacket doesn't match too well. But I am glad to see an official pic showing that NiGHTS's hat is not shiny. Every fan art I see of NiGHTS and Reala and people make the hats so shiny I think it's made of plastic. The new pics makes it look more like cloth.

I'm one of the "yay, I like it" people. I can't remember who linked me to it first, but I just liked it from the moment I saw it. As a redesign, they managed to keep his elegant look and avoided going the "X-Treme!" route, which is a good thing ( and something I hope they don't do to Reala ). It didn't change his personality any, I feel.

The only thing that's consistently bothered me is his eyes. Both in the in-game shots and magazine art.

In the magazine images, from what I've seen, his eyes look really plasticy, and it's hard to see his slit pupil through all that reflection. Irks me no end.

The in-game ones are just all kinds of creepy with that serrated eyelash thing going on. @.@

I really don't get people's facination with those gloves... they painted his hands white! It's not a huge difference... especially considering a certain Ultra Violet's colour scheme...

I personally love it. I think it's just so pretty *_* I really love the little extra things they put in. It looks like NiGHTS- same kinda lines and such but it has more frills! XD I suppose it looks a little unbalanced but not that much- it looks fine to have the top more detailed to me, but eh. I don't like the eyelashes though, they're not really separated right =\ They should either be really detailed or simple. -shrug-

I'm not entirely wowed by it. If they were going to start with a new jacket design, they shoulda gone all out and changed his whole self. On the other hand, it's not really a jarring or upsetting look. Doesn't quite match, but I've got no real beef with it. Now, if you could unlock his regular costume in game! Why that would be nice.

I don't see why they can't just put it in there in the first place! However, it might happen since they may not have enough time to put everything they want so you may have to download stuff later.

The different outfits would be really nice. I would love to fly around as XMas NiGHTS again, or maybe a Halloween NiGHTS. (Come on now Sega you need to do that at least!) Maybe we can change the hue's of NiGHTS outfit and make the purple whatever base color we want. I don't know. But 100 outfits would probably kill develpers if they had to do that. lol

I personally am for the change. It makes him/her look a bit more grown up, and I think most people who've never heard of NiGHTS before would be more likely to pick JoD off the shelves on impulse with the new design rather than the old.

The only thing I dislike is that it makes NiGHTS seem a lot more male that the original design, not good for an androgynous character.

And I do like DiGi's idea of multiple costumes. Perhaps there could be something where you can "unlock" costume pieces, either by finding them in a stage or by achieving a certain goal, an then you can assemble the individual pieces any way you choose? Like Bomberman 64, you know...?

Well.. I really do like it and I'm actually glad that if they had to make any change at all that they did not go all out with a change. I Wouldn't like a complete revamp of NiGHTS, I think I would get depressed. BEcause then it just wouldn't be NiGHTS... Think about it, he's only got eyes and a mouth! If they changed his clothes entirely, I'd have to sob and think "WHO IS THIS RANDOM FAN 'MAREN?! This could be anyone!" And and- What if I told NiGHTS my secrets at night?? But but- It wasn't NiGHTS and this new 'maren pretending to be NiGHTS goes to all the OTHER 'Maren and tells them I still sleep with teddy bears and they all laugh at me?! Then I run away dramatically and slam my door and continue to play the game like a spoiled brat.

The only thing that I hate about the new look is his eyelashes and eyes. Other wise I don't mind that many changes on him. Then again this is new game and not the same old game or games that some of us have played for years and years now.

Well...I like the way she looks. SEGA didnt add TOO much (thus altering her entirely) and they kept it close to the original.

When I first saw his new look, I was a bit "Ehh...this isn't gonna work out for me..." because I was so use to NiGHTS's Saturn suit. Now, though, I'm starting to like it. I also think it was mostly the way the first picture of the suit was rendered that I didn't quite agree with.

I don't like it at all... The collar especially bothers me. The red just doesn't look right O_o They shoulda kept it purple. And the lacy is especially way too over detailed and looks out of place. And while they had a neat idea making the eyes two-tone since they seem to differ a lot in the promo art... Look-wise it's just meh. Maybe if they'd used a different color instead of that bright neon blue in the center... It's really jarring and looks ugly =/

Overall, I'm not very happy.

I like the costume, but his eyes are a little unnerving. I'm not sure what it is, but something about them looks...inhuman. NiGHTS always seemed to me to be a character that was human enough to allow the player to find a connection, but still different. Those eyes....they look like he's an alien or something.

Yami, I realize you don't have a Wii, and I'm not trying to start an argument or debate or anything like that, but I don't think that's going to happen. So far, the ONLY WiiConnect24 features in a game are the ability to send maps to friends in Elebits. That's it. Nintendo has apparently (According to GameInformer) blocked any and all WiiConnect24 features for Wii games until the end of 2007. Given it's current release date, and SEGA's tradition of rushing important games, it's not likely the game will be pushed back until 2008 to allow for the addition of WC24 features.

Plus, you'd probably have to pay for them. Look at SONIC THE HEDGEHOG. The downloadable content for that game is outrageously priced.

Hate to sound pessimistic, and I'm sure there's a chance, but I'm not counting on it. (Sorry for ranting about WiiConnect24 in a topic about character designs... )

That's exactly how I feel.
And I have mixed feelings about the gloves. I loved them, because gloves are seshy but then I was disappointed because NiGHTS has such pretty hands. A shame covering them up.

Really the main thing that bugs me about the screen caps is the eyelashes! But in general, I do see that the quality of NiGHTS himself is not quite what I would expect, knowing how amazing graphics can be on certain systems nowadays. The levels and everything look really really good, though. Better than NiGHTS seems to have come out. I guess he looks a little choppy to me. Don't get me wrong, I like them very much, they're really good, but I hope that they can make it look a tad better before the release of the game.

They'll fix it. Most of SEGA's recent games may have been of a lesser-quality IMO, but they were all PRETTY. (Even SONIC THE HEDGEHOG was pretty! Except for the pop-in...)

I actually quite like his new outfit. I love all the little detailed fabric bits on the arms and legs, though they look really hard to draw..(haven't attempted it yet) I love how ...Frilly the outfit looks XD I dunno. I think it's rather funky myself. I dunno, I like the fact they've just redone it all.

NiGHTS' new outfit? I was kind of iffy on it, at first. The more I thought about it, though, the more I liked it. The gloves REALLY threw me off, at first, though. XD I just kind of blinked and went "Okay, what's with the gloves?". But yeah, it is a little odd that they put a lot of detail into the waist coat and not anything else but the sides of his legs and his sleeves. Then again, though, the detailed waistcoat was around before NiGHTS. It's a very pseudo-Victorian look, I think; he doesn't look any more feminine or masculine, as the style is masculine but the colours aren't, in my opinion.

Personally? I'm just glad the purple guy's back. XD He will be a lot harder to draw, now, but still. He's back and I'm happy. :3

I for one am immensely RELIEVED over NiGHTS' redesign. Even those that don't like it have to admit that the designers showed a LOT of restraint in what they added and deleted. The changes, for the most part, are fairly subtle. When I first heard that NiGHTS got a makeover, I was immediately dreading seeing the new design. When I finally did, I was very, very pleasantly surprised. It's updated, but it still caries the spirit of his character and doesn't take his look sharply off the beaten path. It's fair. At this time, I don't prefer one design over the other.

But I will say that I'm absolutely DELIGHTED that the freakin' Mickey Mouse buttons are gone.

Ha ha. I've heard tale of some pitching of fits here and there about the new game. So far I'm happy with everything overall except those eyelashes. And I hope that the graphics are less choppy by the time if comes out.
