UV NiGHTS is TRiPPY's own version of what she believes NiGHTS may have been like before the time that the game took place. Kind of like a teenage stage.

What Purg said 8D!
Yeah. He's TRiPPY's idea of what UV NiGHTS was before he started helping dreamers.
Most of the stories about him are based of TRiP's dreams, too :3.

1: Who Is UV NiGHTS? I've tried several search engines to try and find his/her origin, bio, or anything and turned up a big nothing. Is he/she NiGHTS before he turned against Wizeman, or...?
2: This one I have no clue on. In the least. What is "Selph"?
May seem like strange questions, but you gotta know this one thing: I only first learned about NiGHTS from Sonic Riders, and I haven't played the original game. (Or own the Saturn that I need to play it. XD I only hope NiD is brought to the Virtual Console. Then all I have to do is buy a Wii at Christmas.)
Thanks for your help.

UV NiGHTS is TRiPPY's version of NiGHTS before he started to love/help dreamers, when he still helped Wizeman, yes. He's TRiPPY's version, not from SEGA.

Selph is either A.) A boss removed from the game during production, or B.) The

As for Selph. Selph was a removed boss from the original NiGHTS into Dreams game. All that remains of him is his theme song and some weird looking pole/stick item that was hacked out of the game a long time ago. His appearance is still not known but there is a lot of fan idea's out there of what he might have looked like. He was set to appear before the Wizeman fight and was considered to be a very important character because of this position. Maybe even more important than Reala.
Hope that helps you out. ^^

Now that UV is pretty much off the site, we have the whole host of new fans all wondering what UV is. So, i think, in order to keep things simple we should make a page on the actual website explaining who is. We just didn't want people whining again that 'UV is not official' but if it's just an information page on who he is then that should be enough.
And besides, for a fan character, i have to admit UV has done pretty well for himself if even Sega ended up noticing him. That, in itself deserves it's own page. So, yeah, i guess an information page on the main website won't do any harm. TRiPPY will get on that whenever she has time.

Whaaaa? Why have I /not/ heard of this? o_O Learn somethin' new everyday. . .Are there any images of the pole[maybe a staff?]?
Also, I'd greatly like to know how to hack the character/item models out of NiGHTS. owo'

As i said, hacking NiD was a tough job so not much was able to be discovered. The whole Selph investigation amounted to not alot in the end.
Since then, another person has hacked NiD. Suri, who contacted us almost 5 months ago telling us he had just managed to hack open the entire Sping Valley level. It took him a long time too. Last we heard, he had began to rebuild the game from scratch and has a beta of Soft Museum on youtube. But we have not heard from him in a while now. We should get in contact with him to see if he had continued his work.
As for images of Selph's pole. TRiPPY is still working on making the 'hacking page' of the website. I honestly don't know where in our folders the image of Selphs pole is so we'll have to wait until TRiPPY opens the new page of the website to see it.
Hmm. I think i'll actually contact Suri later tonight to find out how he's getting on with the hacking. I wonder if he's found anything new since we last spoke to him.

I'm no good at big, difficult hacking. The most I've hacked is Catz4, Trespasser[old JP game for PC] and GTA: SA. XD Not very impressive, I guess. I can't wait until the Hacking page is put up, I looooove reading about hacks and secret stuffs. =P
I know I'm being a tad bit annoying, but what did it look like? o.o I have a design of Selph that I came up with, so I'm wondering if I could implement this pole thinger into his design somehow. XD Colors would really be nice. >.>
*goes to look up that Soft Museum thing*
Thanks, DiGi. XD

That explains why it was so difficult to find anything! XD
I read about that UV NiGHTS persona mask thing on the news page. Maybe there could be two categories of Mask: Upgrade (Dragon/Rocket/Dolphin) and Skin Change: (Play as Old-Style NiGHTS/UV NiGHTS/Old-Style Reala, etc) That would be awesome. Unlikely, but awesome.
And Selph being a boss? Hmm...
Maybe Wizeman's advisor/personal guard? Who knows.
I don't know anything about hacking, so I can't help you there.

Wait, wasn't Selph the AI that controls the other NiGHTS in the Wizeman battle? That's what I always thought... Maybe I'm wrong...
There's two theories flying around. That's what I personally think... and 'Know Thyself' was going to be used in one of the battles or so but that got scrapped. Or something. But, the mainstream idea is that it's a lost boss.

I'm too lazy to actually find the translation, but Ye Olde Japanese NiGHTS Website says that 'Know Thyself!' is "a music of a boss that has not appeared yet"[only in terrible Engrish because BabelFish hates me]. Apparently, that theme actually had a boss to go to, but the boss /and/ the music track were scrapped.

(Which is why I believe it to be that "AI that controls the other NiGHTS")
Now I have to say that its interesting to hear about this "pole/stick" thing.
It doesn't prove anything yet (Other than linking to the Selph file) but I'm have some doubts about it.
(In the sense that I doubt it is the "boss")
However it might be something stuck in the game for coding on a particular thing.
As in, and mind you this is only an example on the theory that I took up and not necessarily true, it could be coding to control the other NiGHTS.
(Only an example, It still can relate to a boss as in coding but I still have my doubts on whether Sega would leave their game this uncleaned up.)
Its not actually unusual for people to use other objects in the game, whether they appear to the visible eye or not, to code particular events in the game. I use a similar idea on the RPG maker but if they are using their own engine, and I'm sure they probably did back then, the concept would probably be also quite similar.
Either way all this information can help me learn a bit more. XD

Just to let you all know, the old Japanese Sonic Team website (which still up, surprisingly) says 'SELPH' is a removed boss.
Thank you DiGi.
I understand the viability of the whole "doppleganger" Selph theory, and as a result can understand why so many fans hold true to it despite the official SEGA declaration, however old.
I'm still hoping for the truth to appear one day. <3
By the way, DiGi... any ideas as to when dear TRiPPY will have the "hacking" section up? I know she's been insanely busy lately, and I'm not rushing anyone, but I'm still curious. Let me know if you have any ideas, hon.

Well, we actually planned on doing it this week once we got back from our trip to Sega....but, due to what happaned at Sega we may have to put making new pages for our website on hold for now. Since our visit to Sega, a few things have come up thus requiring a bit of TRiPPY's time right now. But i also want the page up soon too so don't worry, it will be as soon as we have time to do it.
