Espio may be cool, but as far as I remember there's been no word on him yet :/
new preview by NGamer. Cheer for Chao! Lol. Also, apparently E-123 Omega and Shade are playable too.

*Running around like an idiot, screaming* YES! YES! YES!Further hands-on play reveals more treats. Each area - explored with stylus movement - now hides a number of Chaos eggs. Crack them open and the blue cherubs can be equipped as stat modifiers or placed in the Tamagotchi-like Chao garden.
Wi-Fi link with a mate and they can be swapped, seeing more hopeless explorers plead with thorough chums for swapsies.
Must have. Brimming over with pure happy.

Jeez, SEGA, way to ruin the fun.

Figured I should update this topic a bit. (copypastes from DA journal)
21/6/2008- couple of new pieces over at Sonic stadium and at N-Europe.-> http://www.sonicstad...-first-chapters http://www.n-europe....ew.php?prid=272
24/6/2008- New website with a pseudo-DS style interface. ie- a glimpse of how the 'town' areas will play, complete with some music -> http://www.sega.com/...es/us/index.php
15/7/2008- A few new screens. The inventory style reminds me of some of the RPGs I've played before, so at least I won't be too confused XD -> http://palgn.com.au/...62b9858bb71fcbc
16/7/2008- Okay, here's some Chronicles gameplay demo-> http://uk.gamespot.c...stage-show-demo
I spent most of the time laughing at the fact that the guy demoing it sucked, but it looks pretty cool 25 hours for a Sonic game? Not bad at all.
19/7/2008- The game that'll be available to play at SoS will be Sonic Chronicles apparently.
Limited gameplay per person since there'll only be one pod to play it on, but it's a nice treat.

Okay, I got this game the Saturday just gone (the day after release over here) and I figured I might as well say one thing:
Dear god, Sega, it must be embarassing to see an outside company do a new Sonic game better than you do :/
Now, you all know me, I love Sonic games regardless, since I'm a hopeless fangirl. But I shall try my best to give an honest opinion without resorting to squeeing.
First off, the sound. At first the music was just too tinny for my liking, and the battle sounds were cheesy as hell. But shortly they grew on me a little. One tune in particular was a nostalgia trigger, and I was so happy it was in there
Graphics. As most people have said, the backgrounds are rather pretty things, however sometimes the enemies passed in front of bits of scenery that they SHOULDN'T. The character models are a little... odd, but I got used to them after a while. Except Rouge. Her wings seem to detatch O_o The attacks are pretty typical effects. I do laugh at
Storyline. Well, can't say much without giving away major spoilers. There's plenty of little plotbits though, and some really amusing lines that I just had to laugh at XD
And finally, the controls. Well, it's controlled entirely by stylus. And works for the most part It adds a nice touch of interactivity to the battles too, and means you can't take your eye off the screen or you might end up screwed. Must admit, the patterns can get a little tiresome, and once you get the hang of them they're pretty easy. As for on-map controls, it works okay, but occassionally I end up swapping characters instead of having Sonic run to the top of the screen etc.
All in all, there are a few tiny niggles, like you can sometimes take forever killing an enemy that only yields 10XP, or the occasional graphical or touchcontrol glitch, and the fact that there is no WiFi compatibility whatsoever, but most of these are easilly ignorable. I like the way the characters react to one-another, and the story is funny. It's a charming game overall in my opinion. If I were a reviewer, I'd give it 8 or 9 out of 10.
Has anyone else here played it? I'd like to know what you guys think too.

It's a shame that the game ended where it did, since it seemed to only have just started going :/ Anyone played Tomb Raider Legend only to discover that it ended pretty much just as the interesting bit of the story started? Well, there you go. BUT, Bioware are apparently working on a sequel. Which I will be buying, if only to see where they're going with this...And finally, the controls. The Chao aren't as in depth as people are hoping. Pretty much they're just collectables that you can use to power up your characters. There's no actual raising involved. And if there is, I can't find it :/ Sorry about that guys.

I bought this game the day it was released. I haven't completed it yet (just started chapter 10) but I can give my opinion on it.
The 2D backgrounds are beautiful and well-designed; I like how you have to use the characters' abilities to progress and how you have to figure out how to reach some places. Stylus controls are fine.
The battles are interesting, POW moves are rather fun, but it can be frustrating when you miss them. However, the 3D (character models and battle backgrounds) is ugly.
The music is rather bad. Sometimes it sounds like 8-bit music or something, I know the DS can do better. There are a lot of remixes from older games (mostly Sonic 3D), but the original version is always better.
The story is nice overall, but a bit awkward sometimes; and some of the dialogues are funny. And I love the pictures of the chapter titles, they're beautiful.
Overall it's a fun game and I really like it. Though it's a bit too easy.

I find the game to be kinda hard. I end up messing up the tapping commands a lot since my hands slip easily and my body just refuses to try harder with the darn thing. Game would sure be easy IF you got your attacks to work everytime. *sigh*
The game is nice so far but it has its short comings. It is not perfect. Miss x 20. UGH!
I was upset about the way the Chao garden worked. I was even more upset to hear that the only way to level them up is through training. BS! Like I am going to find someone else on my college campus that plays this god damn game! #$(*&%$U (*YU $%*!
It is not awful though. I still keep wanting to play. The storyline is very interesting. Also, what happend to the alien race name? I thought it was going to be Zoah or something?

Oh ok. I was not sure. I have not gotten that far yet. The game is pretty hard for me but it is very fun. I just wish there was more to the chao garden. (or someone I could freaking trade with!) I also wish Amy was better.....

I also wish Amy was better.....
Well,at least amy isn't chasing sonic through out the whole thing like she does in every game
as for the chao garden, its too bad there isn't too much to it, but at least they brought it back.
I'll have to get the game sometime soon,it sounds fun,now if unleashed is this fun, it might be a comeback.

Just today, I started a second file below my first one on Sonic Chronicles to backtrack and pick up some info, but when I saved the second file, it erased over my first! A month of dedicated playing, gone. And I was almost done with the game, too! Has anybody else had this particular glitch? Or in that case, any other glitches with this game?

MORE ECHIDNAS PLEASE.
Yes, I'm a Julie-Su fan. So what? The Dark Brotherhood, the Dark Legion... pret-ty much the same. And come on, who can't love Shade? Kickass but with a moral core that will set her angsting at random moments. Shadow was just Kickass, he only angsts if you mention Maria, but Shade feels real guilt!
Shade Shade Shade Shade! More Echidnas!
On another note, what are the echidna dreads anyway? It's been implied in many continuities that they are more then just fur... Octohead egg-laying mammals!

Echidnas have spines, so I assume their "dreads" are kind of like the stylized spines they put on their hedgehog design.
.... I don't ever want to imagine Sonic comic characters in a game, actually.

Ask and ye shall recive, feniiku:
Andersams review.
I picked up Sonic chronicles a few days after release due to my lost then found DS, but I picked it up filled with antipation but carefull doubt in case it sucked, but it was hardly needed.
Story:One reason I picked up this game is story. I'm a real sucker for good game storys, and I was pleasently surprised. the charecters interactions are very engaging, and the opition to pick what you say is cool,
Battle: Was actually rather smooth. when I first heard of this game, I thought "A sonic RPG?! No way that'll work!!" but I was wrong. however I did notice that battles seemed to fight against you too much later into the game, leaving me no choice but to avoid battles as much as possible.
Music: I actually liked the music a lot. espeally the one (can't remember which) in which I found myself humming 'funkytown' in beat with it, and the battle music mixes up each battle, so your not listening to the same annoying beats each battle
One thing I did hate though was the fact that
And the credits were actually enjoyable!

I got it when it came out but ended up not having time to play it for some weeks and have been playing it in VERY SMALL DOESES. So I haven't beaten it yet.

This game was great. However, I feel that something is wrong. You don't think that the only reason Sonic Chronicles is talking about the loose ends of Sonic's games, is so that they can end?

I was given this game for Christmas and being the skeptic that I am, I was having some doubts about whether or not the game would be enjoyable. However, I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. As a sucker for RPG games, I liked the story and the battle system (although it became kind of irritating with certain attacks). I especially liked the fact that you could choose what you wanted to say to the other characters (heh, heh smart-mouthing the GUN commander and Eggman). Unfortunately, I wound up beating the whole game within a week.

I beat it the other day and even though i dont like RPG's i enjoyed it, I liked the story and some of the art was pretty good but the music was a bit crap but it still had a nice retro feel to it.
