Sonic Racing Crossworlds
One of the best NiGHTS cameos in years, NiGHTS and his Extreme Gear the Dream Sleeper appeared as free DLC for Sonic Racing Crossworlds! Before their truimphant inclusion though, NiGHTS already had an old-but-gold additional cameo appearance in the Radical Highway track, with the return of the NiGHTS head on top of the building; this time in a more holographic form!
Announcement
Then came the initial announcement of NiGHTS as a playable racer (shocking no-one given his appearance on the back of the game box), where AiAi and Tangle/Whisper were also revealed!
It was a fantastic reveal, showing a great deal of NiGHTS' personality in both the trailer and promotional images released alongside the announcement.
Unlocked At Last!
So come December 2025 and NiGHTS was unlocked ingame, captured here in this video!
If you play Crossworlds online you can communicate to each other through the use of emotes while waiting in the lobby for the match to start! Here's NiGHTS' emotes, featuring some excellent references to both key art and concept art!
Included as well is a video of the emotes being used, needless to say when NiGHTS unlocked there was a lot of people playing as him!
Gameplay
The above video is footage of NiGHTS using the Dream Sleeper! Forgive the performance, I am definitely out of practice haha! I tried to get each of the air trick poses shown too!
The above video is footage of NiGHTS in a car (my regular vehicle of choice that I used to represent NiGHTS before he was in the game), I've included this as the air tricks vary depending on the type of vehicle used!
NiGHTS Festival
Around the same time as a character becoming available on Crossworlds, a Festival for that character also takes place, allowing you to unlock various cosmetics etc related to them!
To unlock each item you must play in teams to earn points, with players assigned to either Team NiGHTS, Team Reala or Team Pian! This would alter the appearance of your vehicles to show which team you are assigned.
As I made my way through the ranks I made sure to screenshot each of the available items for unlock!
Once the Festival was over each players final Festival Points amount and Ranking were calculated! Alas because I actually sleep I couldn't play enough to get into the Top 1000, Top 100 or Top 10 so I never unlocked Titles for these positions so if anyone would like to share a screenshot of each then by all means!
There was a great deal of love and attention to detail put into this NiGHTS collaboration, and I can only hope that the franchise continues to be represented so fondly by Sonic Team!
Could do without the front-mouth though lol, yikes!
