Examples are the following XD
Every Power Ranger season known to man XD
ReBoot
Animaniacs
Super Human Samurai Syber Squad
Samurai Pizza Cats
Freakazoid
The Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons
and a whole bunch more I can't rememebr at the moment XD LoL
I also laugh how some of these had content that was so not age appropriate X3, they just don't make them how they used to O_o

Reboot
Sonic
Animaniacs
Pinky and the Brain
My Little Ponies
Captain Planet
Super Mario Bros.
Zelda
Ducktales
and everything else under the sun.... And I know what you mean about not being age appropriate haha. And some of the stuff isn't politcally correct and would never make it on air these days haha...
I love watching this stuff 10-15 years later and catching stuff you never caught as kids. You take a totally different perspective on the shows!

Transformers (of course)
Reboot
Beast Wars (of course)
Gargoyles
*Edit* Batman: The Animated Series
I also used to watch a lot of Toonami until it started sucking.

..wish I could remember any detail of the episodes. I was a young'n.
Also,
Original Power Rangers series... after season 2, I really lost all interest with the way they kept changing things around.
Super Mario Bros. -- those live action guys were pretty funny.
Of course, mandatory Nicktoons on Saturdays and Sundays
Doug, Rugrats, Rocko, Ren & Stimpy
Real Adventures Jonny Quest -- when I got older and we got Satellite
2 Stupid Dogs -- in the mornings before I left middle school XP
Not a cartoon, but still equally legendary:
The Adventures of Pete and Pete

The anime I included were:
Tenchi Muyo
Cardcaptors
Digimon
Pokemon
I have Wolf's rain in there as an impact on me but obviously not when I was younger.
But more include all those 90's cartoons, mostly the original Toonami and the first airing of Adult Swim because anime naturally is more dramatic than that of American cartoons like Dexters Lab or Rugrats.
Fox Kids and Kids WB as well, like Monster Rancher and well...I can't think of a WB one I haven't already listed atm lol.

omg yes XD
for instance my friend and I were reminiscing on ReBoot and finding clips on yes the glory that is YouTube X3, and ... I swear Bob got so close to being raped so many times XD, and Hex's outfit is very.. BDSM o_O
There's also the fact that I found out, most of the shows I've watched as a kid had characters voiced by Tim Curry O_o... who played a tranny in a musical XD LoL
And the terminology that was used XD I'll quote one from Samurai Pizza Cats: "It's like an ORGY of destruction!!"

Rocky Horror is love. <3
Yes indeedy X3 lol! And that song of his is the best XD
Which is funny cause he kept the uh.. rather "sultry" type sounds when he sang Toxic Love as Hexxus in FernGully O_o. Watching that again I was like... this song.. sounds very sexual XD LoL
Yet I loved it then, I still do now XD

They've now made a new DBZ dub, in which Vegeta does not use this line.
This makes me a sad midgie

Batman Beyond has to be the only other batman series that's good besides the original o_O. That show was so made of win

and I agree, alot of shows feel like one long advertisement for their new toy line ~_~
And ah yes ... Vegeta and his "It's over 9000!!!!" I miss the old dub.. that was great stuff

#12

Back in my day, Vegeta said "over 9000!!!" D:

Why would they even bother? I seen the clip of it too. They cannot take the lulz away from us.

As for the Ferngully thing, I used to LOOOVE that movie when I was younger. And I had noo Idea he did the voice, but I know what you're talking about, I lol'd.

My favorites would have to be Batman: The Animated Series, followed closely by Batman Beyond. Why don't they make shows like that anymore? Shows that aren't afraid to have their own style (Dark Deco for the win), don't assume their target audience (kids) are complete idiots, have an amazing musical score, glorious voice acting, solid stories, and generally aren't some cheap 21-minute toy commercial imported from Japan. If you want some prime examples of what I'm talking about, go watch Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker. American animation at it's finest.
Oh, for the 90s again.
I agree. It's way to common today for a show aimed at younger audiences to have the lowest common denominator in mind. I feel sorry for kids sometimes. Almost everything they can watch seems to insult their intelligence.
On an unrelated note, those Batman movies were awesome. Damn, Mark Hamill is the best joker ever. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to add Batman to my list. Toodles

Cow and Chicken and 2 Stupid Dogs were my favourites.
I grew up with "What a Cartoon !", the 42 cartoon shorts that ran on Cartoon Network mid 90's, and spawned the Powerpuff girls and Dexter and Johnny Bravo. I must have seen every cartoon ten fold. I still love them to bits.
It was only recently, that I discovered one of my favourites of this series, a short featuring a Blue cat who pricks his finger and seeks help at a hospital, is titled "Jof - in Help !"

Also! ALVIN! Ahahahah remember the Chipettes? Didn't the human character end up falling in love with the Chipmunks boring human leaderish guy?
Also i loved The Ghostbusters e_e; I had a total crush on Egon Spengler as a kid. Fahaha. Nerd.

Another I remember fondly is a French cartoon known as Spartakus and The Sun Beneath The Sea (yep, full English title!). MUCH LOVE. Arcana reminded me of my mom... :3 Anyone else heard of it?
Count Duckula, The Littlest Vampire, Popples, Sonic, ReBoot, Animaniacs, there's so many I could list! I'm just eternally grateful that they're all finally coming to DVD. I can show my youngest sister how cool TV used to be!
EDIT: Nyahaha you too TRiPPY? I always had a crush on the nerds.. XD

they will be missed... an not just them, theres more.... but i cant remember them all.
it pains me so, not to remember....

dude... i do remember i did impersonations of cartoons all the time when i was little... always made noises, got in trouble for them, did some impressions that were bad but i didnt know any better... ah golden days... at least thats one part of my childhood that never left... i still do all those impersonations and noises... and people still hate it when i do it

Oooh, I got in trouble for the same thing, man. XD When I was little, I really liked the Disney movie The Three Caballeros. I always used to impersonate Jose and to do that, I would put a crayon in my mouth and say it was a cigar. My parents and siblings would tell me "Well we don't like smokers so you have to go outside!" and they'd put me on the porch. I'd cry and say "I'm Richard again, I'm Richard" and they'd let me in but then I'd say "I tricked you, I'm Jose!" XD
HAHA! lol, i swear you just reminded me of when i used to impersonate sonic... not the cartoon, the actual game... i'd imitate the exact movement of the sprite, id jump and make the sound, tap my foot and looked impatient when i stood still, run like him, i'd roll in a ball, id even try to match the screeching halt when you go in another direction... then i broke my foot one day while running like him... i hit a metal bar on a rocking horse...
oh god man... memories, i will enjoy them...

SUE SEGA KTHXHAHA! lol, i swear you just reminded me of when i used to impersonate sonic...
...
then i broke my foot one day while running like him... i hit a metal bar on a rocking horse...
*lol* just kidding. I know what you mean, man, I sometimes move and walk a certain way without thinking and I catch myself, because I used to do it when I was a kid. Walking like a certain sprite would walk or something like that. #._.# God I keep talking about embarrassing things today!! XD
Hey, did anyone else watch that anime of Grimm's Fairy Tales? One of them was of a Hedgehog and his family who tricked a fox to win this race and another was of a girl who's brother got turned into a deer.. Another was of this mean old woman and her granddaughter who used to steal cabbage and the cabbage was cursed and they turned into donkeys and were sold. They used to give it on Nickelodeon.
#36
Posted 28 August 2007 - 05:11 PM

another was a girl who befriended a wolf, and tried to to teach him not to eat animals... im not sure about that one...
and the last one was little red riding hood... i think... after the wolf ate them, the hunter came, cut open his stomache, took the granny and hood out, and replaced them with rocks...
i MAY have seen one about the little mermaid, and another about a stuck up princess insulted and laughed at everyone. she was forcibly married to a poor man who was a prince in disguise, he taught her discipline or something like that, and when things got better betwen she grew to like him, and married, then learned all about him and everything and blah.. ... i dunno... i cant remember
