As a Christian I am downright offended and appalled. I'm sick of people using my religion to make money. This is blasphemous.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23448.html

But you gotta admit it is pretty hilarious at such a poor attempt they are making.

It appears to be a double thing here...
To not only make money but to catch kids interest in bible studying, ect.
But the feeling makes it feel like a parent trying to "look" "act" cool but only end up embarrassing you.

I feel that they could have done a lot better.
I mean such a thing, could they be giving the money to worthy causes?

Oh god, the in-game graphics are horrible! It could've been accepted in, say, 1999, but it's 2007 now. Just look at how everyone moves, it looks awkward. The control doesn't seem any better either. As for the characters... I don't know about you, but I just found them laughable, both in design and names. In fact, I'm reminded of that old Batman and Robin show:

Biblegirl: Jolly train tracks, Bibleman, Wacky Protester have trapped people in a labyrinth!
Bibleman: Never fear, Biblegirl, for we have the power of FAITH!
Christians: *stares in shock* ...we'll be ignoring this now kthxbai.

I'm a kinda hardcore Christian irl as well. When I first saw that in the NiD iRC, I couldn't stop laughing XD.

Anyway, that game actually was a TV Show intended to get kids into reading the Bible and get atheists, pagans, and other people who didn't worship God, to ultimately worship God. I don't think either was very successful.

Anyway, the game didn't work out too well, it looks like, and it looks extremely chesey both with story and graphics. I wouldn't get it if it was free :|.

There's lots of crazy things the Evangelical movement has spewed out, imo. But, I'm not hear to argue about religion (If I were, I'd be in Gaia). There's a lot of Christian Video Games out there... they rarely catch on though XD; . I think there was one with a modded 'Castlewolfstein 3D' that was about Noah's ark, and I know there was one called 'The Bible Game' that doesn't even have a wikipedia article last time I checked.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're based off of Diablo's, or are Diablo's engine with new levels and graphics (That's usually the case with lots of Christian Games, I notice -_-).

If someone wants to make a Biblical game, don't base the graphics off of something named DIABLO. ;)

Ahahaha I totally agree. It totally contradicts the developers' theme of the game. But I think that this is just a myth; I dunno, it just seems like the announcer speaks in a comical tone.

Well.....

I don't mean to bust on anybody who is christian here (I myself am), but the church should butt out of video games. Really.

Since when has anyone ever seen a game EVER that was religious as well as entertaining? I mean, good effort and all, but SERIOUSLY!

Sheesh, A LOT of things and Religion should not mix. Like, oh, say.. politics? That's the vibe I got from watching that, a sleazy political undertone.

BUT that could just be me.

Now I'm a Christian myself, and over the years I've seen people try to get people's attention through media, and it just doesn't work. If anything, they should stick to movies. Leave out the Christian rock (<--WTF with that anyway), and stay the hell away from video games.

Especially if that's all the effort they're going to put into it. That just sucked.

Oh yeah, about those Nintendo Bible games and the Noah's Ark bit...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkNvQYiM6bw

This will tell you all you need to know. BTW, be warned, this guy swears a lot, but this shows an even earlier attempt at bible based games.

To be fair though, one PC bible game I played when I was a kid that was actually fun was called Bible Builder. Here's the best source I could find for it: http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=2457. Just an example. ^^

The game magazine I'm subscribed to had an article about Christian games, and about a dozen mini-reviews. Basically, they described the game as wothless, no matter if you looked at the control, graphics or execution.

I agree, but you would also be surprise how many games have a 'religious' overtone to them...it just depends on how well you 'mix it up' I mean, even in Halo, you are fighting against zealots of the 'Holy Covenant' and trying to stop them from activating the 'sacred icons' upon the Holy Halo structures. Not to mention alot of Biblical references Bungie was not shy of putting in the game (Master Chief being Spartan-II: John-117, which can be linked to several passages in the New Testament, etc.).

Granted that is one example...but like I said, it depends on how well you mix it up...it could make for a very good game.

Basically, religion can mix with video games as long as the mix is subtle and the game isn't blaring religion to the gamer. Yeah, I could go for that.

Thank you, game makers, for putting your own layer of dust on the tarnished name of decent Christians everywhere. :angry:;

Granted, I wouldn't mind a religious game, but come ON. You can do better than that! Why not go through Bible history and reenact famous battles and journeys? Sheesh.

I'd possibly buy a game like that 83.

Like, an RTS or strategy game about battles in the Bible and etc. Would sell well, I tell ya'.

We actually had this game at our GameStop the other day! Ooh I was lol-ing.

That aside, I hate religious games. A lot of Christians hate them, too. Answer: stop making them! Makes everyone happy <.< besides, I bet God would be appalled at how bad those games are. Top man gives it a 2 outta ten, you're going to hell.. (heh heh heh, no one take that seriously pls ^_^ )

Seriously though, I remember when they made a game of 'Left Behind,' and how many people complained about the violence, etc.

Now, if they made a REALISTIC game based on maybe, the Crusades, it'd rival Gears of War with the bloodshed and rampant battles and such.. might sell well in fact. I can think of a few movies they could model this on. In fact, I thought Assasin's Creed is going to have somewhat of that setting *looks it up*

'The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history.'

Mmhmm, now that actually might work. I'd play it!

....Argh. Just... ARGH.

Seriously, that video made me wanna crawl under a table and die. There went what little hope for humanity I had left. Religion and video games do not mix well. Wow.

I remember seeing a Christian type game at Gamestop a couple weeks ago, it was probably the same one. Looked like a Genesis cartridge, if I remember right.

On a side note, if they'd create one of those that focused on a particular point in Christian history, they'd have a possible chance. My money would be on them screwing it up royally like they did this one though.
