Recently I've been listening to quite a bit of jazz. I've always liked jazz but I seriously think it's because my most favorite genre of music. It's got the blend of soft and hard down to a tee which makes listening all the more interesting. I know this might conjure up a few giggles but I really like listening to Scatman John. Turns out he didn't only do electronic based tracks like I initially thought. I've been listening to a whole lot of Esperanza Spalding after finding out about her. I picked up her latest album "Chamber Music Society" and it's been repeating in my CD player and iPod over and over and over. It's weird because at first I was a bit iffy about buying a jazz CD but her music is unbelievably addictive.

So how about you guys? You got any jazz pieces or artist you'd like to talk about? I'd be happy to read what you post and maybe we can help each other find more musicians to listen to.

One more thing. This is my favorite track from "Chamber Music Society." -

One of my favourite instruments is the saxophone and i utterly love smooth jazz with a slight R&B feel to it. The reason i like so much rap from the 90's is because it used to sample a lot of saxophone and jazz elements in to the genre. Shame they don't anymore.

But yeah, Jazz itself. It's great music to listen to when you're working on stuff. I find that music with lyrics tends to distract me from what i'm working on, i lose concerntration if a song is too complicated. But jazz seems to just get a nice ballance so it's something i can vibe to without having to focus on it.

A particular jazz musician i like is a man named Brian Culbertson.

I have a more romantic view on jazz... If I actually had romance...
