This is my NiGHTS into Dreams... pocket handheld that I bought from someone on Youtube.
It's so awesome x3
I've never seen this version before, so I'm very excited!

anyways, my mom doesn't have the best camera, so when my aunt comes over I will take better quality pictures with her camera :)!

Aw cool XD I've got that one but I've never took it out its packaging. Play it for me! *lol* The 2 versions ARE identicle right? Kinda makes you wonder why they changed the casing...

What's the 'gameplay' like? From the instructions it looks like it's meant to mimic NiD closely.. Never saw a NiGHTS handheld. Bet I woulda picked one up if I saw it, knowing it'd be terrible anyway.. wonder if my Sonic wristwatch one is in the basement.

It's okay.
Not half as good as NiD, lol.
but really all you do is collect the 'blue' chips, and then fly to the Ideya capture. nothing special, but it's still really cool just to have it. [:

I can try to get some gameplay on video, I'm not sure how good it will show up, but I'll try.

Does the game end?
I know I had an old Sonic 2 handheld and after 9 levels or something it's "over" (meaning it blinks and makes noises and if you keep playing your score goes back to 0). But the only PocketArcade I had was for Sonic 3D Blast and I'm pretty sure it was just an infinite loop of collecting rings. NOT SO MUCH FUN. I THINK it never ends but I also lost interest pretty quickly after I would start playing.

well, the instructions have bosses in them, so I'm guessing you have to fight them. idk, It might have an ending.

Yes, the game has an ending, and it's identical to the first version. I was surprised to learn they had made a second version of the handheld when I saw it on eBay some years ago, because the new case was so ugly and plain. The instruction manual was actually done in purple & white (I have it scanned in here - page out of frame)... except mine has... some drawings... on it. And more that I photoshopped out. That's why it didn't get sent with the game when I sold it on eBay. <.<

Anyway, there is another NiGHTS handheld game that I'm aware of, the one for the R-Zone.

Oh, and you can see screenshots of the game from the packaging back of the handheld I had, here. That's exactly what they looked like, too, the sharp black graphics over the stationary mix of Spring Valley and Stick Canyon...? haha.

I've never played that version, but I want to say it's probably the same, because all of the products were made by Tiger. There's actually a screencap of the NiGHTS R-Zone game here (if you scroll down, it's mislabled as "Panzer Dragoon"). The background's a little different, but I bet the gameplay and graphics were all the same.

The "Panzer Dragoon" screenshot makes it look like you're supposed to shoot NiGHTS. :o The graphics are very good, though.

I used to have a bunch of these old LCD games. They were enough to keep me entertained when I was young. I found it interesting how they would use the same "sprite" over and over and add say a different leg or ad a sword on or similar to make it be something else. I even had this ultra cool one that was from the power rangers movie that used the 3D green foil stuff for the background. Ah the memories of long car trips...

I beat one of them once. It was Sonic 2 I think. He just ran around the screen for a few seconds while happy music played. I expect something similar if you beat this one.
