It's technically a kids' series, but it's oh-so-good, and not "kiddish" at all. It takes place in a land called Foo that exists alongside ours, much like Nightopia, where all of mankind's dreams go to. The inhabitants there help manipulate the dreams so we can rest peacefully. But besides the dream world similarity, it's vastly different than NiGHTS. Average people from Earth come to live in Foo if they're in the right place at the right time - they just get sucked into the world. Unfortunately, some of them want to go back, but can't. The series revolves around a war taking place in Foo, where many of the people are trying to open a gateway back to reality... not realizing that by doing so they may destroy Foo and Earth entirely, and mankind may be devoid of hopes and dreams forever.

The books have a great cast of characters, fast-moving storyline, and paint a creative picture of a land of dreams. But what got me the most was the author's writing style... even though the story gets rather serious at some points, Obert Skye has a way of writing such witty things that you'll gigglesnort your way through it.

Highly recommended ~ the first book is here.

I'm heading to the bookstore tomorrow, so I'll definitely hunt for this! It sounds really interesting. :3 I love reading different takes on how the dream world works!

I just hope I CAN find it... sometimes we Canucks get ripped off that way. >P

Okay, it took me a bit to find and finally read through - and I'm sooo glad I did!

Definitely imaginative and full of dreams! I love sycophants and want a Clover for myself! XD I like how much faith they put in fate - I know it sounds a little ridiculous, but it fits a world of dreams to me! I'm a sucker for new creatures and names and concepts, and the avolands (sp?) were wicked cool and deadly! And it is a bit like NiGHTS, with Sabine wanting to control both dreams AND reality - the cool difference is that he doesn't realize just how impossible it is..

Foo sounds like such a neat place... I'm not entirely sure I'd want to be whisked away from everyone I love, but the whole concept sounds really neat anyway. X3

I finished the first book at past 2am - I really was exhausted, so finishing it then felt absolutely WONDERFUL~~~~. XD Thanks for recommending it! On to book 2!
