I'm horrible with introductions, but you can call me Mary or infractus. 'infractus' is a name that's been following me for some time, though I borrowed it from a character in a story I tried writing years ago for lack of something more creative (people give me a funky eye when they hear my other s/n "ung0dlike").

I reside in an apartment whose cleanliness fluctuates day to day, with a sink perfect for culturing sentient life. I attend Florida State University, with intentions to major in chemistry (I'll feel better about the future once I try to ace this final exam on Thursday). In my spare time, I play video games and collect consoles - the count is up to 10-12 systems, attempt to draw and do something art-like when my muse is being nicer to me, and just cruise through life looking for new opportunities to explore.
(sorry, this gets a bit long-winded from here :D )

What makes me sad is that I did not really get a decent chance to embrace the glory that was NiGHTS back in '96. I think I'd just moved to California with my parents and that was a rocky time. I recall something about being in a Blockbuster Video somewhere in '95 seeing Sonic-R which perked my interest, but was unfamiliar with the Sega Saturn.

Somehow, I'd missed many of the commercials and promos for it, but I think my parents did that somewhat intentionally.. they'd given away my Nintendo after they bought me a Genesis for Christmas. I took it as a sign that they didn't want me to have too many video game consoles... well. Years pass and I move to Florida, meet the man I now refer to as my 'lovie' and he and his family took me down to the Florida Keys for his birthday in 2002.

The trailer park that we were staying at with a good friend of the family was owned by the guy who lived next door. He was an interestingly tall guy with a strange beard, but he owned the park. He noted that most of the trailers in the section across from the place we were staying were abandoned because the people who lived there were evicted and never to return. The trailers had been unoccupied for many years.. my boyfriend and I were given permission to go 'looting.' It was interesting to walk through abandoned homes of people and the lives they left behind. It was also insanely eerie, or at least in some of the homes.. We also stumbled across a glorious discovery: a Sega Saturn. It looked to be in good condition, although we couldn't find any controllers or cables for it. I wasn't too concerned because there was a man who ran a video game store back home that carried all sorts of older consoles, games, and supplies.

When we got back, I bought the AC Adapter, a controller, and the only game he had was Tomb Raider at the time. So.. when I get home, plug everything in, I'm squeeing with delight as it boots up... but it goes to the console screen. I click on "start application" and it tells me to insert a disc. I had the disc in there! That made me sad. So - I put in one of those lens cleaning CD's, and it didn't even acknowledge it was there. So... after 2 hours of mulling over ideas and taking the console apart and cleaning it, I took the leads from my dad's voltmeter and touched them from the terminals of a 9-volt battery to the solder points on the motherboard of the system that spun the CD's rotor so I could clean the lens. After about 4 more hours of work, I put things back together.. and it booted up and ran just fine! (there's some distortion of sound when things are loading, but if you keep the same game in there for long enough, I guess it precaches and you don't get that distortion)

I happened upon NiGHTS when I moved up here, strange enough.. and that was last year. My friends came up for the weekend, and we went to the local Flea Market. There was a guy who had all sorts of video games and movies. I thumbed through a box of older games, mixed in with a few Saturn games. I saw NiGHTS and was intrigued. For whatever reason, I didn't buy it. I have no idea why.. maybe none of us had cash on us or something. Did some research online and stumbled across the wonderful and amazing TRiPPY and her NiGHTS enthusiasm and was absolutely blown away. Went back to the market a few weeks later, and the game was gone. I was sad So.. I ended up buying it from Amazon.. and didn't realize the seller did not include the booklet. oh well..

The fluidity and everything about the game has just sucked me in. And what a fantastic soundtrack! Ah, it makes me sad that I didn't find NiGHTS sooner. Things happen for a reason, I suppose..

Anyway, thanks for reading! Looking forward to getting to know the rest of you all out there!

Hi and welcome!
hey, I know you! XD

Aw, you're not alone. I didn't get into NiGHTS until . . . 98? 2000?
let's see I moved around 2000 and I discovered the music and researched the game around 99. . . got my console and game in 2001 or so. . . bah, I can't remember, I just feel like I've always been a fan!

The point is, most fans have never played and very few of us have had the privelege of being fans since the game's launch.
i actually turned my nose up at the funny looking purple clown game in the video store.
Such a fool I was!

What matters is that we're here now and we love NiGHTS into Dreams.
So welcome, and share in our love!
