As for NiGHTS ...i'm personaly on my last ounce of hope for him now. Everybody keeps saying "oh, NiGHTS is expected, i dont know why you're worrying" but it just aint as easy as that. There is no evidence to prove NiGHTS is in yet there's evidence to prove he isn't. And it's becoming a real battle trying to remain excited for this game knowing my favourite character could honestly not be in it.

So that could be a logical explanation as to why we haven't seen NiGHTS yet. Because NiGHTS IS the vehicle.

Would NiGHTS's allstar attack be the ol' grab and toss or would it be paraloops. I can't imagine paraloops because that'd be like sending the competition to another dimension or something. Then again drill dashing might be the best way to go.

Of course NiGHTS would probably end up being the vehicle, seeing as how he can morph. Sumo are creative with the source so NiGHTS, if he was in this, has a very high chance of actually being the vehicle.

Still though, NiGHTS being the vehicle or not is no reason to not show the character ...muuuur this is f*!*ing torturous!

The way I see it, there's still plenty of time (a couple months at least) for Sega to reveal characters. I don't know if they realize how much frustration they're giving NiGHTS fans by holding off on [hopefully] revealing him, but I can't say I'm surprised by the situation. It's just stupid though, because at this point it's not gonna be so much a surprise when they show him (though they could throw us a curve depending on how he's in the game, like whether NiGHTS is the vehicle or not) but a relief, as we're just waiting to exhale about the subject. It's like, 'can't they just get it over with'?

I dunno, maybe Thanksgiving time, or all the way to Christmas they'll finally reveal a new trailer. Or some other puzzle that'll drag on too long.

Maybe they'll reveal NiGHTS at Christmas in the same way they revealed the zombies at Halloween. NiGHTS is the only Christmas-y character that I can think of...

Maybe his all-star move would be the drill dash, like Mario Kart's Bullet Bill.

He'd have to be hella faster than tails plodding along in his Bi-Plane thats fer sure. Jets for the wiiin. The only other type of plane i could imagine him being is one of those Red Arrow stunt planes that fire the colored smoke out the back.


You know just speaking in general about this game, i'm so tired of coming across people who haven't played it across the net putting it down as being a Mario Kart clone and thinking its rubbish. I've been going around telling everyone it's really decent. It honestly is. That's one of the main reasons we WANT NiGHTS in this game so bad. Its so fun. People need to give it a chance before making solid opinions on it before they've even touched it y'know :/ Sumo are VERY VERY good at racing games! Just because it has some furries in people auto think it = kiddy and handles bady, but its backbone is a proper little racer.

Still can't wait for it to come out and I'm not even big on racers.

lol, it's mainly old school interceptors and fighter planes, those are the ones they painted those cool 'shark' faces on. Lear and Jump are different types, I think..

I'm not big on racers either, the main thing otherwise is since MarioKart did it first, this game can potentially be as good technically, but either way gamers may cry foul simply due to the fact that the overall concept (company IP's racing each other) has been done. I seriously think that Sega's bungling of Sonic's franchise has made people jaded towards them as a company. And I agree on some level, I think we're all still quite pissed at how they handled JoD.

What'd seal the deal for me is if certain characters that haven't been seen in ages come out to play.

I didn't think i would because i kinda wanted to see NiGHTS as NiGHTS and the only reason i wanted NiGHTS to drive a land based vehicle is because an air based vehicle would look silly in a road race ...but after seeing this idea in a visual form i think it works really well.

Thank ye, thank ye. On the subject, I doubt they'd ever do something this complicated but potentially NiGHTS could assume multiple vehicle types, and in my mind I can still see him in a cart style vehicle.. but I'm guessing they'll go with one iteration and leave it at that. Naturally, he should be one of the quicker characters anyway..

Augh I wanna make a finished version of my jet idear. Gotta get crackin'..

If it's a flying vehicle, as long as the landing gear remains up at all times and we dont see the wheels then it's fine. Other wise it would look silly, which is something that puts me off about Tails' vehicle.

Also, for the allStar move Viper, it might be better if all three of them drill dashed perhaps? That would be better than just NiGHTS doing the work and them trailing behind. OR, he morphs out of being a plane, dualizes with the pair of them thus making two NiGHTS' and the two NiGHTS' drill dash together.

Why didn't we bomb Sumo with this idea from the start? Aaargh ;_;

I was thinking about that, having them all dash would be good, covers more ground. And would distinguish it more from like, Ristar's supposed All Star move which would be almost the same thing. I also like the Selph idea. And yes, the jet, as far as I'm concerned has no landing gear whatsoever.. it's pretty much just NiGHTS flying around in jet form. *continues to tweak design*

Oh god, i love this idea so much now. I was totally against having NiGHTS as a plane but this idea really has sold it. NiGHTS looks awesome and Elliot and Claris as pilots just fit perfectly. I'm totally mad for this design.

Damn... I should have printscreened those posts on the Official SEGA Forums that had emails from S0L... although... the users who posted them responded with childish remarks... aww well.

Anyway, enough of my inner-monologuing: Vectorman is not going to be in the game due to lack of "Vectorman" knowledge in Japan and Europe. He's technically an American IP. And speaking of IP, SEGA isn't 100% sure if they own him either. It sounds like ToeJam & Earl all over again.

*squints* ....oh, you mean that tiny little piece of embroidery on the jet engine at the back there? I think that's the only thing making it a JoD plane. Everything else seems to be the same colours used for both NiD and JoD NiGHTS. And i don't mind, personaly.

Anyways, this whole 'Vectorman' scenario is some little sh!t on the official SEGA forums blabbing after hearing something from S0L that he didn't want to hear. S0L came in and said some more cryptic stuff that's now got everybody going "wha...?" ...and further more, a rumour has popped up that talks in regards to ToeJam & Earl now might be DLC maybe.

So, in the last 24 hours we've had more drama regarding this game than we've had in the entire time it's been in production.

As to if the information in that email is true or not - is for me to know and you to find out when the game gets released

I suspected it would show up on the forums though so planned accordingly - and whilst it wasn't pleasant for me to be proved right, it shows everyone quite why you don't usually get any dialogue going with developers.

Lets just say for a moment that I put something in there that was truly controversial. Something that Sega really didn't want to be discussed or announced.

Best case would be that I got a serious telling off, slightly worse I could actually lose my job over it. There's been cases in the past where a developer never ever worked with a publisher again due to leaks. There has to be trust there for us to be allowed to go into the forums, and that trust is hard to earn, and extremely easy to lose.

This is why it's difficult for me to discuss anything that isn't public knowledge about the game - as we are under NDA.

So it has reminded me very much of the dangers. It also means I'll have to pull back what I do in support of the fans, which is a shame really. I've had some very pleasant conversations in private with a number of folk, most of whom actually show some respect in keeping those conversations between us - in the spirit in which they were sent.

For example, I've had a mail from a guy whose desire was to have someone at Sega hear his song. I made that happen. We've also done some game tweaks based on feedback, got some cameo's in. We've gone and got some music that wouldn't have been in.

We pride ourselves on being open when we can, and trying to support you the fans as much as we can. In return all we ask is you don't go stirring up trouble for us!

Bear this in mind whenever you see leaked info. Especially as when it comes to us, we're very, very careful about what is said. I've seen a number of rumoured leaks that are really completely false in the last few days too - but of course, I'm not putting anyone straight now

Thanks, actually yeah, I did base the jet on NiGHTS's JoD outfit (more details to work with), but I think we all know who the preferred set of dreamers are..

And on another note, I've been really impressed with how interactive Sumo, particularly Steve Lycett has been with the fans. I'd be curious to know what sorts of changes or cameos we have influenced. For sure, we've made lots of noise about various characters. I'd rather not bother them with another e-mail, though it is really tempting to show them this jet idea.. Because it's never too late for DLC ;P

My thoughts exactly. If NiGHTS is not in the main game we scream as loud as we can for DLC.

Greg Johnson, creator of ToeJam & Earl, recently went in the SEGA forums and said he's been in talks with SEGA about making ToeJam & Earl DLC for AllStars Racing. With the fact that DLC is being considered by SEGA at this point, we should keep our eyes open to see what happens with NiGHTS and if all else fails then make noise for DLC.

I believe this fanbase has the power to change things.

Eyes open. If there's no NiGHTS we make our move.

I like the NiGHTS plane with Claris and Elliot. Something about their colours just seem to compliment NiGHTS more. Perhaps it's because pink and blue make purple, and blonde and blond...don't.

Well the PSP has DLC, but I've never seen any for DS, save for Animal Crossing:Wild World, but there it was only small items, I think an all new character would take up too much space. But something I don't really get about this game, is that they chose to include Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue. Wasn't there some notion in the beginning, that they were only going to include cartoon-y characters? He seems pretty realistic to me. XD It's really a shame that they don't add more than 2characters per franchise, I'd really loved to see NiGHTS, alongside the most important characters from NiD, namely Elliot, Claris, Puffy, Gillwing(okaaaay, kind of reasonable that he won't be there, I just can't see him handling any kind of vehicle...maybe he could ride a kite? ugh xD), Clawz, Gulpo(same as Gillwing, but at least he has handlike fins to actually control something!), Jackle and Reala. Wizeman would be a bit to big, but I'd like to see a Pian Racer!(maybe driving a bobby-car? awww that would be adorable<3)
