Persona 3 FES

01 March 2008 - 10:01 PM

Not sure if you guys play the Shin Megami Tensei games, but the best one I've played so far is Persona 3. I've never played an rpg that's also a horror anime and a dating sim. It's got some of the best voice actors (english) that I've run across. Now, for those who have played and didn't know.. they're releasing a second game (sort of an add on) that contains the original game (albeit with revamped costumes and extras) with a sequel also called Episode Aegis. I just found out the news on Atlus so.. curious, does anyone like Persona 3, or is looking forward to the sequel?

Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart Wii went on the reserve list at work today. Apparently it's coming out in April--wanna bet that's BS up the wall? Anyway, it comes packaged with a wheel basically for free (the game's 50 bucks.) I didn't expect them to announce anything about it until Smash came out, but since they pushed that back.. <.<

Anyone got scoops on this game? So far, I've seen some neat stuff. Motorcycles, and apparently it's not double dash this time. I hope they have options to play on the gamecube control instead of being forced to use the wheel. It might be fun but--I like the traditional plays. The graphics look okay but nothing stunning. Like a gamecube game for the most part.

Of course I'm gonna get it though. I mean, it's Mario Kart. Anyone else got input?

Sega: Sonic's Fate

All Right. I just played Mario and Sonic Olympic games a few days ago. After playing an hour, crying inside, then returning it, I started having deep philosophical thoughts on how and why Sonic games can stop being--well, very bad, and start improving. I haven't seen a good one since Sonic Adventure 1, though I have admittedly enjoyed a few of the bad ones. I just expect moar from something that was once as awesome as Mario. Instead of getting sparkly eyed when I put a new game with Sonic in it-- whether anyone else is in there with him--instead I question why I ever liked it. Which is sad. There's an RPG on the way which--I'm sure could be handled well. One can only hope. Ditto to the appearance of Sonic in Smash. Now I'm just curious what you all think a good Sonic Game needs. As for me, I think:

Screw the 3D. If it works, fine, but I want a return to tradition. I don't need an incredibly complex plotline with human princesses, alternate universes, or Shadow with a Gun. Just a good run through some awesome worlds, bopping things and some bossfights after a couple levels. Next-genizing it can be bad actually. The Wii at least needs a game like that. Take the basic idea from the DS ones and improve, perhaps.

Keep the decent new characters. Sonic Advance was a good old romp through the past, but kept some charas I've liked. It doesn't have to be just Sonic and Tails. But don't add any more. Anyone created after Adventure is probably best forgotten about.

Decent levels. DECENT. LEVELS. You don't fall off randomly or run into awful glitches. Aka.. spend enough time putting the final polish on.

Good storylines don't have to be weird. This is from a person who loves off the wall and can't stand normalcy. Yet, there was something compelling in the simple games, versus wacky AU genie stuff that made no sense and wasn't much fun. Or alternate time/future stuff to further complicate something that didn't work in the first place.

Chao are good. Keep those. The gardens and such are a great idea.

Ok, anyone else got ideas here?

Just wacky

So you're having a dramatic and realistic dream.. then the Repairman pops up from 'this is all that' and goes "repairmanmanman" and then the other characters start repeating it like zombies...

wtf? (by the way, having watched that show tells you just how old I am.....)

Or, you're having a tear-wrenching dream about prison camps and suddenly it cuts to a gorgeous musical scene of hitler doing tap-dance through the forest in the springtime, with backup dancers too.

Not sure if anyone put up a topic like this but.. I'd like to hear other people's weirdest dream things, whether it's a dream entire or just odd pieces that don't seem to fit. Scary thing is, in the dreams themselves.. I never realize how hilarious those mindburps are until I wake.
