I'm surprised noone has done this poll yet, but which boss did you find to be a complete pain to beat? Myself, I vote Jackle because he keeps chickening off as well as throwing those cards that I find hard to dodge. And its irritating with Jackle laughing at you when he gets you with one of his cards.

I still remember screaming with joy after beating Jackle because it took me about 15 TRIES to finally pwn Jackle!!! hehehe

Jackle as a character is awesome, but I didn't like fighting him very much for similar reasons to yours. However, I almost voted for Gilwing, as at times I can beat him VERY quickly and other times it feels like its taken me 20 attacks to bring him down! XD Yeah.. I suck when I don't pick up the controller in a long while. I'm also quite air-headed with some things and I don't see why it takes different amounts of attacks to kill him. *In place of a brain there are bunnies humping in his head*

I kind of got used to dodging Jackle's cards, but sometimes it gets annoying- like if you get dodge all but the last one and you're inches from him. Next thing you know he's fled, with the help of one card. Overall.. yeah.. I choose Jackle because his fight can get to feeling more like a chore than fun.

AND... before anyone flies off the handle with "OMG NO JACKLE HATE DE-MOD HIM!", yes, I see the environment, music, and Jackle's "personality" make the level enjoyable. But the fight ITSELF is what I'm talking about.

Right now Gillwing, because I'm practicing the instant kill, and I'm finding it difficult to avoid getting hit.

Jackle strategy for anyone who may benefit, in case one is not aware- His cards alternate, so as soon as you dodge one just move slightly in the opposite direction and keep dodging.. get close, whack him, and simply track him and make sure you beat him up before he gets back to his cape. It's the same every time.. so you can get fairly comfortable with beating him up after a while. The rogue hit puts a damper on things, o'course..

I've found Gilwing dead easy myself (even easier than Puffy), but when I first played NiGHTS, I used to beat him by attacking the head several times before I knew the quick kill paraloop trick (I can only get 1.9 though). And btw, I didn't mean hate anyone as a character, I only meant hate as in "frustrating and hard to beat". Clawz was a pain in the arse but the music was pretty catchy!!!

Yeah I know how to do it nowadays, but sometimes, when I go ages without playing, man do I stink at NiGHTS. But don't let me play for a long while, then I'm ace. XD Not as good as a lot of other people around here are. (I'd never compete in score attack!)

ha ha! Anyhow, I know that there's a trick to just about everyone.. I've done the card dodge with moves as simple as "Go up! Go down! Go back up! DAAASH!!" But once in a while, he still gives me a pretty hard time.

Purgatory said just about everything I feel about battling Jackle (err, ah, excluding that bit about humping bunnies.. replace that with Dogs barking Jingle Bells). The first time I ever faced him, I had no idea what the heck I was supposed to do and everytime I flew toward him, THOSE DARN CARDS! I've done plenty of screaming at my TV.

Clawz comes in at a close second (WOW, USE THE DRILL DASH! WHAT A CONCEPT THAT IS!). Stupid mouse rockets.

Honorable mention to Puffy, since the first time was weird and confusing.

The one that's most frustrating for me though has to be Clawz. OH DEAR LORD THOSE MICE. I simply cannot dodge them. It's physically impossible. And the real kicker is that because I've never beaten Clawz, I've NEVER EVEN BEEN TO REALA'S LEVEL, much less FOUGHT him. And he's supposed to be my favorite character? ARRRGH!

Heh, I still remember when I beat Jackle, I yelled out at the top of my lungs "YOU LITTLE BEAUTY!!!!" because he was so frustrating, it wasn't so much the cards (those bloody mouse rockets from Clawz were worse, and you can't even dodge them at ALL when they go off), it was moreso the fact he was too chicken to fight (i.e. kept running away). I didn't have much problems with Reala but when I first encountered him, I thought, being NiGHTS evil twin, he would be an absolute arse. I was wrong, but he was not as easy as Gillwing. Did you have the same feeling when you first came across Reala?

And yes I did cheer when I whupped Wizeman, but not as much as Jackle.

As for Clawz's damn mouse rockets, kill them with fire.

See, I've tried that. I always end up running into the ground/ceiling and stopping in my tracks. ... I suspect I'm just really REALLY bad at boosting. ^^; Thank you though.

Yeah, Clawz was like that for me too. I got the general gist by watching vids (dash dash break lit mouse dash dash break lit mouse rinse repeat)
but I could never really execute it...till tonight I had like only 20 seconds left (got hit 4 times) so I didn't get a bonus....but I GOT THAT BLASTED CAT. If I, the crappy gamer I am, can do it, you can too! Just keep going and practice practice practice! You too can get to Reala (and beat him!) Just like me for ALL YOUR IDEYA! That's right, gimme ALL YOUR IDEYA and I'll even throw in a pen!
Bad infomercial aside, it took me....*counts on fingers* I dunno how many tries before I finally got Clawz, so just keep trying!

Before I got to Clawz tho, my least fave boss was Gullwing. I was TERRIBLE (and still am) at looping his tail once you bash him and kept running out of time as a result. Blasted winged tadpole. Least his music is awesome.

As for Jackle, I haven't gotten to him yet. I've unlocked suburban museum, but I haven't played it cuz the sound for that level on emulator is atrocious. It made my ears bleed. >.> I'll get back to you guys once I brave the horrible noise.

I picked Gulpo because no matter how hard I try, I just CANNOT get a 2.0 on that zotty bit of sushi... ><() The battle is too tedious for my liking.

Jackle on the other hand provided a great challenge for me. >=) I loved that boss fight and I still do to this day. In fact, I love battling Jackle a hell of a lot more than battling Reala. ^^

I cant really answer this never played the original but im getting a saturn soon, but i hate puffy it just seems like a boring battle to me (played it on a emulator) and jakle seems to be the hardest just from wathcin vids

Well tonight, I've finally got a 2.0 with Wizeman and also getting an A rank on Twin Seeds. w00t! I had a few probs with Wizeman, but not as many as both Clawz and Jackle put together. Cards and mouse rockets don't mix very well. I think the best I got with Clawz was 1.5 and Jackle, 1.6 even though I've found Jackle harder. I guess why I was slower was because of getting rid of those GOD FORSAKEN RODENT MISSILES!!!!

i used to hate jackle, i could never defeat him but now he's definitely one of my favourites. once you get the hang of it, he's really easy to defeat and it feels really satisfying dodging all those flying cards! and i love his laugh when he throws them. i don't like gillwing because i think he's, well, a bit crap. i think he has the least personality out of all the bosses and takes AGES (and i can't do that thing where you kill him in one go)

I said Gillwing simply because I don't think I've ever pulled off a 2.0 against him. I don't know why, but I can never time my paraloops just right. Heck even in the levels they kill 'pians and I have to shut off the game. I don't want to harm the little guys, they just keep wandering into my loops!! T-T

Okay, I DESPISE Jackle because it makes me so angry the way he tosses those stupid cards at NiGHTS and then rejoices in his pain whenever he gets hit! Eventually, I get so angry about the thought of NiGHTS getting hurt over and over again that i find myself kicking Jackle to pluto and back. (i.e. Beating him in 115 seconds.)

I love Jackle as a character but he drove me nuts when I first started playing!!! It took me so many tries to beat him and I haven't gone back to him since. I should give him a go again...I just wish there was a boss attack mode or practice mode...that would save so much time...it's so hard to practice the bosses when you have to beat the level every time...but I guess that's what makes it a challenge.

Gillwing is hardest for me. I can't do that special trick for the better time. Jackle isn't so hard once you get a technique... but I love them all regardless of how hard they are.

I just can't understand why its so hard....... Sometimes I even get her to go two rooms back! >.< Can I not just shove a pin in her and call it a day?!

LOL, funny how most of you are picking Jackle. He is the only one I can even get a 2.0 on. He can be the easiest...or the hardest boss. There are some days where I play and something just goes terribly wrong and I lose. So you never really know with him. But for the most part, once you figure it out he then becomes pretty easy.

Its usually the second to last wall that gets me. I just can't seem to aim it right. I can't aim at all for that matter I guess. I don't know why either. You would think she would really be the easiest, but for me she is not. Why I can do good on most of the other bosses (except Clawz. That takes a little bit of time there.) and not Puffy, I will never know!

I don't know Puffy can be a little tricky... Reala is the easiest though. Jackle comes second... lol But Gillwing. UHG!

Jackle is the toughest, in my opinion. That being said, he's also one of my fave characters, lol.

Jackle is able to fly faster than NiGHTS and Reala and only really slows down when he attacks, so keeping up with him is near impossible until he starts throwing the cards. Plus, he tends to take more hits than Reala does before being beaten too. He's a tough Maren. I think, for those reasons alone, people tend to initially think that Jackle is also a 1st level Maren too...but he isn't.

Gillwing, easiest of the bunch. Fly underneath his ass, paraloop and BOOM! his whole tail explodes! Walk in the park.

Designwise, I hate Gulpo... he's just so normal...
As an actual boss fight though, I frickin' hate Clawz... I still sometimes forget how the Hell I'm supposed to kill him... >_< I love how he looks though XD

Gulpo. Because evil fish terrify me. And I could never tell where Gulpo was, or what I was doing. He blended in too well with his background. Maybe I've just got the Alzheimers. Puffy second because my aim was terrible. I never had a problem with Jackle, Reala, or Gillwing.
