Playable NiGHTS at TGS

Just saw this article at Kotaku. Looks like they're confirming everything we're hoping for: It plays just like the original. The article is a brief but good read so check it out.
One thing I noted in particular was they said the game doesn't seem to make use of motion controls at all. I don't know if controls had been confirmed before this, but it's news to me.

The Wii version's controlled via the Nunchuk's analog stick, and the Wii remote's only being used for its buttons - no waggle. I hear that the game will have many control schemes, including Classic Controller support as well as one that uses the Wii Remote's pointing function, but at TGS it was Nunchuk/Remote exclusively.
There you have it. A variety of control schemes may -- and probably will -- be available in the final version. For my money, I seem to remember that JoD was brought underway precisely because of the Wii-mote's many awesome possibilities. I can't imagine that Sega would build such a high-profile game around the Wii-mote, make the game Wii-exclusive and not invoke motion control in some way.
That tired debate aside, I like what I'm hearing and seeing about JoD from the floor over at TGS.

September 20th's play, and
September 21st's playthrough
I linked these because of what I read in the second one...more details about the Chameleon boss we have heard about!!! It's on the second page, but for those of you who want to read it here...
So, the end boss that we had to tackle was quite the annoyance, and he proved too strong for our weaksauce fingers. The boss was a chameleon that hid in an opposite dimension that could only be opened by making loops with NiGHTS to reveal its location. In the opposite dimension, rows of playing cards indicated whether to go up or down to find the boss, all the while evil Jacks and Kings attack you in your dimension.
By finding and following the Ace cards, you could find the chameleon, although defeating it was a different story. Once you have revealed its location, the next task was to grab a hold of it and send it flying, but that proved to be difficult as he was way too fast. Hey, it was ten in the morning, our readers can cut us a little slack, right?
So, what do you think? I think it sounds like a definite nod the the original Jackle fight...

It seems every day I come on here and there's something new about JoD (well, I DID join up just a few days before TGS, go figure)...so much news that I'm having trouble keeping up!
Sega's making a comeback...and NiGHTS is most definitely the first sign.

One can only hope...!

Let's see 'em make a few GOOD Sonic games...then maybe then there'll be hope...but they're definitely going in the right direction with NiGHTS...I'd bet money on it.
