Just wanted to comment on Reala's coloration. The outfit will have much better color saturation and contrast than is shown. IGN's video was either recorded or encoded with too much brightness and not enough contrast, resulting in a muted, washed out look uncharacteristic of the original material.

We should probably withhold final final judgement until we have better source material.

Besides, all of the discussion so far ignores the far more important question: how effective is Reala as a character? That in itself is another good reason to withhold judgement.

I absolutly love Reala's oufit! The feathers, the mask, the armor, Love it!!!! NiGHTS got new threads so it only fair that Reala gets a new costume to! Besides he looks sexy in it! ^_^

But the Owl thing makes me very curious. ~_~;

I like the new design a lot, but it's pretty different... I miss all the stripes and diamonds. But then, we've only really seen him from the waist up... it's not too late!! :0

And I would be VERY surprised if that owl was Reala in disguise... it's too friendly-looking, and I doubt the big R would want to help out little kids for any length of time, even if it meant he'd be able to deceive them. It's not really his style. I think the owl is just an owl.

Plus if you look at the owl, you will see a crystal he is wearing resembling Reala's.

The others are saying that the crystal gem crest that the owl is wearing resembles the one Reala has on his mask and chest. ^_^

People are just afraid of change.

I like him, he has become more defined and and more of an indepth character rather than a copy of NiGHTS with a different pattern/colour scheme.

The one thing I would take away is his silly mask, he doesn't need it.

Apart from that tiny little thing he's perfect just like the Reala we all know and love ^^

i honestly depsise Reala's new getup. His hat thingies arnt long enough, their curvature is too much like NiGHTS'. That mask is just horrible, his triple diamonds on his chest and his yellow claws were his trademark. And he's not as buff as he was. AND he looks way more like NiGHTS than he used to. Just an opinion.

Same here lol. I like the samurai look LOTS, it's just the frilly pink collar that throws me off. Egh. Where'd that come from? He could have done without the bat tights <3, but they're cute nonetheless. Miss the claws, the triple diamond pattern, and his crookedy smile D:.

And I really wanna rip that mask off his face and feed it to my grandma's toothless poodle.

...anyone else notice that his eyes change color? I've only noticed it watching Will's cutscenes, but his eyes start out a really pretty shade of blue. In the scene before you fight him in Delight City his eyes are a not-quite-as-pretty shade of green. He's like Riku XD!

I feel I should amend my earlier statement. I like his new design in the high res art, but in game he's really freaking ugly. Those feathers aren't even three dimensional. The in game graphics just can't seem to handle his design since it's so damn busy.

Well yep... I do really like his new costume but the bats should have been left to Morgan (from darkstalkers) and I liked his Gold claw like hands better... But becides that he is wonderful looking.

Although I do miss the claws. Those should come back. And...his collar is pink? I thought it was red...Curse my poor eyesight. :<
The mask is so-so for me. I like it sometimes, sometimes not.

Change can be a difficult thing to get right, I think Reala has too much of a good thing going on if you know what I mean, he has really cool features, there just so overdone and caked on him. I liked NiGHTS new design better because the changes are more subtle. But I can (sort of) understand Izuka's approach to the new game after so many years because they wanted us and many new fans from this new generation of fans to be able to relive the magic once again, I'm sure we were all afraid of a change (even though we probably wanted a few things cleared up) because of Sega's epic fail in the past few years but they needed it to be fresh with a whole slew of things to "look forward to" and to keep there older fans going. But like I said, this is a theoretic version of what I would like to think thats what they were thinking as well, I still unfortunately have not played the game (got it second day it came out, still no Wii) but I think I know enough about the game to say this about Journey of Dreams development and the changes.
