This is a continuation of a discussion in an earlier topic, and I have no clue if this has been made before.

What is under his clothes, asuming they are clothes? I mean, it's obvious that the pink parts of his legs are boots, as I can tell by the coverart. I think, here's my honest theory, he has no body at all. Hence the no wrists or neck. He just has a more developed face than Jackle. Also, the purple head is a hat, and he has short horns. The rest of the hat is filled with hair. (It wraps around the horns and goes beyond.)

I state things as truth when I type my theory, but of course this must be open for discussion.

I believe that NiGHTS' head is just a sphere. If he took off his hat, it'd just be...blah. A sphere with eyes and a mouth. If he DOES have a body, it's just flat, skin-colored stuff. His crystal looks more like it's part of his chest, though...

NiGHTS has body, but this body lacks a navel and genitalia.

Umm. He can transform, remember? I think he is the suit, with his head being some sort of control center.

Considering the transformation ability NiGHTS has, I have to agree with Tangocat777. Trying to transform with any sort of bones could have dire results. That, and a definitive body structure would probably limit NiGHTS' movement while flying.

I think the only parts of her body that are visible are her hands, chest gem, and her head. The rest is a suit covering an invisible, boneless body. One with slightly definite structure, but changeable. Then she has two horns and long hair.

I think both are possible.
And thats why peoples can't make serious loveyness drawings without changing the characters' appearance in some ways >_>

I agree with you. Pretty sure he has no visible body. He'd probably look like Jackle minus the shoes if he took off his clothes or something. Dunno about Reala though...

I'm in the camp that says that IS his body. Basically, all Maren are pretty much 'nude', as it were.

I don't often picture NiGHTS without his suit (skin? XD), but when I do, I always get a Rayman-like character.

I always pictured NiGHTS as having a body, of some sort, but after reading this thread I'm not too sure anymore. NiGHTS's (somewhat) human-like qualities and features make it difficult for me to think there isn't a body. However, I can see both views. I wonder if the lack of visible limbs was intentional, or a limitation of 3D modeling back in the day (that possibly carried over to JoD).

If it was intentional (which I'd bet a lot it was), then this discussion comes as no surprise, as characters in dreams can take on many forms with human-like attributes and our minds take care of the rest. Given the nature of what we're dealing with...

To look into the 3D modeling aspect, I just finished replaying the new JoD trailer using frame-by-frame stepping (which, on a side note, makes you notice just how gracefully SEGA made NiGHTS move in that video), looking for any point where there was a visible gap or slightly exposed limb, but at no point is the lighting bright enough or the hands/head exposed enough to really draw a conclusion. Same thing with Reala.

I don't know...I'll probably always picture NiGHTS with an actual body.

I like drawing NiGHTS with horns and hair like Trippy cause i first started really getting into NiGHTS because of her artwork but really, i think it might be short hair and just a hat cause it's so fluid and moves like cloth with nothing inside sometimes. I think NiGHTS might have a body or it's just nothingness in there. either way, i sure do love those eyes... <D

I agree..I used to think NiGHTS had like a starry void kinda like space under his clothes but now i'm just thinking he's like...rayman? i guess i mean like design wise with no connected limbs

Okay, this is the funniest thing I've seen off this site ^^ As to my own opinion, I think NiGHTS has a body and can shapeshift or change different attributes. However, nude, 'he' probably has no genitalia in a natural state. Why would he need them? Of course, I'm sure he can change it up if he wanted to get dirty (for the fic fans, why not) As for the rest, I think his clothing determines the shape of the body you see--slim and androgynous, chest, which for some reason I assume is rather pointed in comparison with human anatomy (not breasts)

I always thought of NiGHTS as a essence of dreams. meaning that he can be anything that can be dreamed. possibly invisible with makeup on his face...

I agree with this theory. If nothing else, it's pretty fun to have a character that runs around naked and nobody cares XD How many humanoid characters can claim that?
