Does anyone out there watch either Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo? If you do, then which one do you like best, who are your favorite characters, and all of that other good stuff.

I'll go first...

While Champloo has recently gained my interest (yeah I'm slow), the Bebop will always be first on my list.

Favorite characters

Bebop:
1st Spike
2nd Edward
3rd Jet
4th Faye

Champloo:
1 Jin and Mugen
2 Fuu and Sara

Okay, anyone else?

Seen both, like both. I like Bebop more though. I first saw it when my fascination with anime had peaked so it has the nostalgia factor. I also love good Sci-Fi, but most importantly:

Jazz > Hip-Hop

Don't get me wrong though. Champloo is good too. I just don't care quite so much for it because by the time I saw it, it had sort of a been there done that feel. Through the entire first episode I just kept thinking "Hey, it's Rurouni Bebop". Of course I later found it was more than that, but you get my point.

Oh, and Spike is my favorite in CB character.

I prefer Cowboy Bebop over Samurai Champloo, honestly. Though SC comes a VERY close second. And as for my favorite characters in CB? Those three old guys you'd always see somewhere in certain episodes. You all know who I'm talking about, right?

Seen 'em.. I can't help but prefer Bebop. And I'll never be able to decide who I like more between Mugen and Jin. Spike Spiegel is one of my all time faves.

Only seen Bebop (other than the odd clip of Champloo here and there). I'm not really an anime fan but this series just blew me away and led me to getting the whole series, film and some of the manga. It's just so slick, has great music ('Tank' :P ) and a good storyline that actually goes somewhere and can be followed (once you get past the first couple of standalone type episodes anway).

Spike is my favourite character for obvious reasons - couldn't believe how they ended it; I think I might have shouted at the TV, lol.

i prefer samurai champloo(though it's been a while since i watched it) though cowboy bebop does have vicious, the coolest bad guy ever.

in champloo i like the one that wears casual clothes and has a kind of funky fighting style, can't remember names it's been so long.

I say Champloo. They are both good animes but Champloo seemed more interesting to me. I actually took the initiative to go online and look for episodes. That's how much I liked it. I still haven't seen the entire Bebop movie because the DVD is scratched sadly.

As for favorite characters:

Bebop:
Spike
Ed

Champloo:
Mugen
Jin

I love Cowboy Bebop, I even bought the entire series at Auchinawa last year. Each time I watch it, I think of Auchi.

Its just an awesome series, it reaches an inspirational side of me, when I watch it.

Favourite has to be Ed, random stuff= hilarity.

Never seen Samurai Champloo.

Well, with me. I actually prefer Samurai Champloo over Cowboy Bebop. Only real reason is because I've seen Cowboy Bebop way too many times and I'm officially sick of it.

Cowboy Bebop all the way. I've seen a few episodes of Champloo and it was okay, but it just didn't draw me in the way Bebop did.

Just wanted to come back to this topic and say thanks for making this topic as it made me go scout out this Samurai Champloo.

Its a fair bit more adult in the concepts than Cowboy Bebop, but its almost as very much inspirational.
The music is still pretty funky too.

I'll still have to stick with Cowboy Bebop though.

I was actually a little worried at the final episode of Champloo... especially since its predecessor had shown me that even the main character can be slain (yes I admit that I was in shock for days). Just so that I don't give away too much, I'll just say that at the end I was cheering because both male leads actually lived.

Jazz > Hip-Hop

See, on one side of the coin i agree with that...and on the other side of the coin i don't. Jazz and Hip-Hop are two very different moods of music. Rap explains stories and Jazz is for easy listening. To me it would be kinda like comparing ice cream to pizza. Both are eadible foods, both taste very nice but they're very different from eachother. So, in that light, i'll just say i couldn't ever possibly put one over the other.

But as for Bebop. Damn, that was some serious badassery right there. We finished watching the whole thing last night on TV-links.co.uk. That last episode, i didn't expect it to end like that. It's a shame because with endings like those they could never make another season....which i suppose is a good thing because that way it keeps it's originality and doesn't get overdone. All in all, Spike is one cool guy and he's got my respect. Faye has become my favourite character because she's the one character who goes through most change through the series. Ed is cool, too. I found her quite funny at times.
All that is left is to watch the movie, i guess. *salute to Bebop*

Samurai Champloo, on the other hand, i've seen the first episode and already love the style of it. But then again, it's something very different from Bebop so it's a little hard for me to choose between the two as they're different. Mugen has a certain quality i like about him. The fighting style, mainly.
Still, i need to watch more of Champloo to learn more about the characters.

Champloo has a lot of darker overtones in it, particularly in the portrayal of women.
Although, the ages of samurai were pretty boring times, so I guess if it were portrayed accurately in the time period, that such mood was required.
It still had a good few laughs though.

Bebop, was a lot more comedic, I think Ed alone provided more laughs than the entire Champloo series. Then again, I have seen Bebop more times than Champloo (Champloo once, on tv-links...Cowboy Bebop, 2 episodes minimum, a few up to at least 10 times from back when Toonami was CNX and the iimmortal video of Ki)
The mushrooms episode and the creature from the fridge were excellent episodes, I thought.

I'm not a fan of history, and a big sci-fi fan...so maybe that has a big role on which series catches you more.

Both I find are inspirational series', after watching either one, especially with Bebop's ending, I really feel like I need to get up and do something, y'know.

God i love that episode XD;;

Cowboy Bebop has the greatest music ever. If the music wasn't so well placed i don't think i'd like it as much. It just *MAKES* the series. It's good to see an anime with *good* music. A lot of the songs remind me of Julian Lennons stuff, my favourite being Call Me and that other MP3 i have, the walking in the rain one. And Ballad of Fallen Angels is <3 Can never stop humming that. It's such a well done sequence at the cathedral, it gives me the inspirational shivers.

When i first seen this way last year i watched it all in Japanese and i have to say now after watching the English Dub, both are pretty decent. I was suprised.

Chalk it up to Yoko Kanno being a kick-ass composer. She has versatility up the wazoo. Her music in Macross Plus and Escaflowne was great as well. I agree the great thing about Bebop's music is it always fit the mood.

Someone else likes Call Me, Call Me, too!!! I never saw Ballad of Fallen Angels, but I've heard many good things about it. In addition to the music, the characters were great asset too, their interactions can provide both comedy and drama to the series. The director did an excellent job on both.

Oh man, this is a tough choice.... I guess if I absolutely have to choose one, I'd say Bebop.

The music in Bebop was truly what made the show as TRiPPY said. (I have the whole soundtrack) Gotta say that the jazz feel Just works so perfectly! ^.^
Also, I feel like it just had a more well-planned storyline. (Last episode? 0.o)

I will admit, however that I haven't seen Samurai Champloo in a while. So I may be a little biased towards the show I watched more recently.

meh, meh, meh, meh, meh......
This is a tough one...
Cowboy Beebop is an instant classic...
But I also love the dark overtone and sense of humor in Samurai Champloo...
I'll need to mull on this...

Beebop
1. Ed (because insanity is fun)
2. Spike (gotta respect a guy who can swallow a joint that fast :P)

Champloo
1. Mugen (his style and carelessness brings comedy to just about anything)
2. Gin (His serious demeanor is almost constantly interrupted by humor)
"aren't they beautiful? You know why fireflies have light? They're communicating for a mate. Sometimes they say that a male sometimes tries to attract another male."
*Gin gets out of bath*
God, that was priceless! (good idea on Gin's part)
