The next time I download some VC games, I feel like downloading Shinobi III. I remember watching my older cousin playing it on the Sega Genesis almost about 11 years ago, it looks challenging and pretty badass. I played a demo of Ninja Gaiden Sigma on my older cousin's PS3, I later found out that the series started on the NES. The original NES Ninja Gaiden is also available to download on the Wii Virtual Console. What makes both of these games similar is that the hero you play as in each game are both ninjas and both appear to be side-scrolling action platformers.
In your folks own opinion, which game is the better ninja game? Ninja Gaiden on the NES or Shinobi III on the Sega Genesis?

Get Shinobi III. NOW! It's the pennicle of the series and is challenging and hard to boot!
Ninja Gaiden is also good though. But it's one of THE hardest NES games in existence!

They're both really good, so you can't really go wrong. I personally like Ninja Gaiden a wee bit more than Shinobi but that's likely due to nostalgia. Now that I think more about it you should get Shinobi. Try to get both eventually.

Ninja gaiden on the NES!!!! vs shinobi 3!!! for the genesis no competition at all!, get shinobi dude trust me it'll be well worth your money in the end!, not saying ninja gaiden is bad or anything but that vs shinobi and shinobi 3 at that!, but ninja gaiden was an okay game for the nes to say the least.

Shinobi III for sure. Not only is it just more fun, it doesn't have enemies that appear while you're jumping over a cliff that kill you 95% of the time. Both have awesome music though.

After giving both a quick demo within the last few weeks, I can safely say Shinobi III is your best bet.

Shinobi definitely, I played Revenge of Shinobiand the original Ninja gaiden and preferred Shinobi. Both are pretty difficult, but Shinobi is more fun to play.
