Well hello there, darlings! <3
My name is Jewel Lightraye, but online I tend to go by spinningcannon. You may recognize me from deviantART, my LiveJournal or even the old NiD boards last year.
I'm a very optimistic, imaginative, loving and non-judgmental person who tries to see the good in everything. However, I have one crippling black spot on my heart and that is self-loathing. Yes, spinny tends to get awfully depressed sometimes...awfully depressed. And why? Because I have unrealistically high standards for myself.
I don't know why this is. I try to change them, but can't seem to do so. When I try to give myself a little slack I feel like a total good-for-nothing and sink right back into sorrow again.
You'd never notice it, though. I always hide my sorrow behind a smile. No matter what I'm feeling on the inside, I try not to let it hurt anyone else. Instead, I'll do everything in my power to relieve those I meet of the same sadness. It's just my nature..
That's enough about my problems, though! I'd rather talk about the good things.
Interest-wise, you can take a look at my profile (anywhere on the net you can find one!). I don't want to go on a page-long rant about the many things I love. However, I am extremely interested in any and everything concerning dreams, unearthly beings, and alternate worlds. I am also a devoted Christain and am proud of my faith.
Concerning NiGHTS, though...how I love those crazy Maren! Contrary to popular belief, I actually first met NiGHTS back when the game hit the shelves. I vividly remember looking into one of those glass cases and seeing his purple eyes and secret smile. Regrettably, my family dodn't allow videogames in the house until the millennium... so I was a little too early, I guess. Sorry, NiGHTS...
...However. I came right on time when Sonic Pinball came out. My little brother got it before I did, but I took one look at that cartridge and realized, "hey! I know that guy!!"
And it was history from then on. I went on a huge NiGHTS-centered research craze, which led to my discovery of both TRiPPY and deviantART. Eventually it also led to my discovery of Selph, who became my constant companion and best friend from the moment I met him. And I'm still researching to this day...
Overall, NiGHTS changed my life. Sure, he wasn't the biggest influence-- I'd had some life-shattering experiences in my life before I met him-- but he was big enough. I honestly can't imagine what my life would have turned out like today if I didn't have NiGHTS and Selph in my waking world... let alone in my dreams.
That's it for me, then! I'm so glad to be back, and can't wait to meet all of you again... or for the first time!
