That's what I love about NiGHTS - s/he means so much to just about anyone who plays the game or visits the site! I heard it said once: "You're either a NiGHTS fan, or you've never heard of it before." XD I really hope everyone gets a chance to play the original as well as the sequel! (I don't often worry about the grades - I'm having too much fun flying!)

The appeal of dreams is almost infectious, no matter your age, race, gender or background. Even when I talk to co-workers about certain dreams I've had or heard about, they listen! Which I consider pretty cool for a banking staff! LOL

I really tried my best to score better but I really do think the analog was probably necessary to get great scores. It was just too awkward with D pad for me. I tried to go around again with time left, but sometimes Id run out of time and get caught by the clock. Id REALLY love to play it again with an analog. How difficult would it be for nintendo and Sega to put the original on VC? If space is the issue Id gladly buy SD cards for it.

That is so true. I used to think that my boyfriend was the exception though. But recently he told me that he really does like NiGHTS. The only reason he hated him before was due to is mild association with Sonic. (If you can call it that.) Really naive reason, but he hates Sonic with a passion. He is a big Mario fan and always has been. (Yet he doesn't really own any Mario games because he buys the game, plays a while, then sells it for a new game.)

But he admits that NiGHTS was truly a unique game and worthy of praise. (He plays a ton of different video games so thats a fairly good accomplishment in my book.) He just kept this a secret from me so that he could annoy me all the time by saying NiGHTS and Sonic are gay. (He still thinks Sonic is gay though. >.< )

As for the VC...I hate all you people! Downloading your games to the Wii with your broadband connections. I am going to miss out on this and all the holiday features they will put in the new NiGHTS game. I live in a dorm! I get no option for broadband, and, belive it or not, It is not available everywhere. (Seriously though I do not hate any of you. I am just upset that the video game world thinks everyone has broadband and that in order for me to play most things in games now I need a broadband connection. Soon it will be a requirment. NOOOO!

There seem to be quite a bit of people on here who haven't finished the game. O.O And people on the site say it was user-friendly. BAH! I only beat it in 2 days of hours and hours of gameplay due to luck and the fact that playing video games is the only thing I am decent at. (I got mad blisters though. I don't have the 3D controller. ;_; I try bying it but its way too much money for something I really don't need. I am willing to go up to $10 but because of bids it was going up to $20 and I just said "Screw it".

Speaking of which, I bought a pair of analog controllers from gameexpress.com for $8.99 a pop a week ago... new too!

Sai's first exposure to NiGHTS was back when his brother bought SEGA Saturn Magazine, which featured a massive preview of the new Sonic killer. Obviously I was intrigued, but never had the funds in my nine year old pockets to afford a Saturn... and so the years passed and I slowly forgot about NiGHTS, until Sonic Adventure 1's famous pinball table poured a couple of litres of kerosene onto that low burning flame. Completing said table and not getting to play as NiGHTS as I assumed would happen left me craving a taste of gameplay.
So constant was my nagging of NiGHTS brillance that a friend bought himself a Saturn with a copy of NiGHTS, which I prompltly borrowed and completed... finally as of a month ago I'm the proud owner of NiGHTS, a Saturn, an analog controller and Christmas NiGHTS. My life is officially complete.

It's really interesting reading these stories... I'd never imagined so many people got into NiGHTS via Miss Triplett's various sites.

In August 1997 I bought NiGHTS with my birthday money, I was 12. I could have splashed out and got the 3D pad with it. But I was hanging tight onto my birthday money, as Sonic Jam was just round the corner

I got into it because of the constant cameo's in the Sonic games. I would stop and go "oh, it's that purple thing again...I remeber it from...somewhere..." XD I sort of remebered NiGHTS, but only from commertals. I only vagly remebered it though because I was 7 or 8 at the time...I think maybe closer to 7. Anyway I was to young for video games, at least my mom said so. I didn't get to play any for a while and the first game I got was Tetris for the Gameboy Pocket. Woot. By the time I was actually old enough to be interested in this sort of thing NiGHTS was not to much more than a memory. I had a Super Nintendo, mostly played movie and TV-show related games on it (Power Rangers, Star Gate, Jungle book, Lion King, Jurrassic park ect) and then we got a N64...moslty had Pokemon games for it, and some other games I don't really remeber (my brother has them hidden upstairs somewhere) So anyways, the first time I had thought about NiGHTS in such a long time from the commerials on tv when I was 7 was in Jr. High school when we where playing Sonic Adventure 2 battle. I was excited because the Gamecube had just come out and it was just so cool. I spotted NiGHTS in there and I was imediatly remided of the Purple Nightmare. I got interested and started looking stuff up on the internet. WAsn't that into it until recently though, now I"m outta high school and I actually got a copy of the game and a sega saturn. And WOW I was totally drawn in by it. Yeah...that's basically how I got into it

Sega does show lots of love to NiGHTS with the constant cameo apperances. However, does anyone know if NiGHTS made any cameo apperances in the next gen games? I don't own either of them so I would really like to know.

i got into NiGHTS the christmas after it came out along with the sega saturn itself and christmas night which was given away free with decembers Offical Saturn mag.Myself not being able to wait for christmas, i waited for my parents to go out,then unpack it and have a quick go on NiGHTS before they got back,its one of my fav memories of gaming.Of course as soon as i could play it properly from christmas day onwards i was hooked.Simple gameplay and above all else fun, thats how games should be

I first heard of NiGHTS from the game Sonic Pinball Party. I didn't even want the game because it had non-Sonic charaters I knew nothing about on the cover (I was young and foolish)! My SISTER (who has never made it to the final level of any game!) bought it with her own money and I ended up playing it. I always played the NiGHTS stage because the ball saver lasted longer on it. I really like the music and I decided to find it on the internet. I came to NiGHTS into Dreams website and was struck by the full force of the NiGHTS fever. I tryed to get my dad to buy me the game, the console, and the controller on ebay, but my parents just don't trust the internet enough to spend money on the internet. My fever died down for a bit until I dicovered Deviant Art and looked at some NiGHTS fanart. And here I am now!

When christmas NiGHTS came around my mom said, "Look! A surprize came in the mail today. More NiGHTS!" I made a mad dive for and put it in my Satern. I only played the sampler during those days but I loved it anyway! It was that good.

We were seven (me and my cousin), and I went over his house and saw the SEGA Saturn. I was like "You have a SEGA Saturn!", and he was like "Yeah. Wanna play?", then I said "Yeah.".

He put NiGHTS in and let me play.

My first Saturn game was NiGHTS. Then 10 years later...I got a Staurn for christmas (last Christmas). And to my joy N: JoD was finally officialy announced by SEGA!!!

I first heard of NiD I think a year before it first came out in a game magazine. I've been a Sonic fantard since he first hit the water, and when I heard that NiD was by the guy that came up with Sonic, I was already in. The year it came out, my mom got me the game and the special controller for my birthday, and I was instantly hooked. I got into such an NiD flurry, NiGHTS actually overshadowed Sonic for me for a while. After a couple years, I was no less interested in the game, but far less vocal about it, because I couldn't find anyone that had heard of it or seemed interested in hearing about it.

From that point, NiD largely just became something in the back of my head that I was still into, but that I couldn't find an outlet for. It didn't really resurface for me until I met Dark Burraki, who then introduced me to TRiPPY and the NiD community here. I've been lurking around in the background and stealing socks ever since.

Yeah my boyfriend was lucky to find NiGHTS for a more decent price but then again, it was the game without the controller so he probably got gipped anyway. He said he would go to any length to get me something I loved so much, I luff him! :3 Lol

But yeah, I never got any NiGHTS samplers, my cousin just used to give me the ones he got and I would play them all the time. Its how I got to know Virtual On! and one of my all time favorite puzzle games, Baku Baku Animal lol.

Well I wouldn't say it came with it outside of the fact that they were shipped in the same box. I had to buy the pillowcase as much as I had to buy anything else in that order. At the time of all this, I hung around Sega's website all the time, seeing as back then it wasn't a big bowl of turds. Eventually I wandered into the store, and showed my mom three items: the Christmas NiGHTS sampler (which I'd seen reviewed in magazines), the NiD pillowcase (which I'd never seen but immediately wanted), and a Tails plushie (which I'd been hunting for for years). My mom had promised me that she'd get me a Tails doll if I ever found one again, since a couple years before she made a mistake that cost me a doll. So, since we were going to be shopping at Sega anyway, I asked if we could get the other two things as well, and she agreed since she knew we wouldn't find them anywhere else. And apparently it's a good thing we snagged them, lol. XD God my mom is awesome.

Yeah she really is nice. My mom would probably had done it too...if we even had the internet. I missed out on so many things because I was poor back then. This is how I got into NiGHTS:

I've been a fan of NiD since the day it first came out here in the U.S. Me and my cousin plagued my older brother (who had the Sega Saturn in his room) constantly because we always wanted to play the game. He was a good sport about us two young girls invading his room and space. lol I remember how excited we both were as we tore open the package, inserted the disc into the system and hit the power button. It was magic pure and simple. We fell in love with the purple harlequin and the magic he brought with him. We spent many happy days and hours in front of the t.v entranced as we played the game exploring every nook and cranny. Gradually my cousin lost interest in the game but my love stayed and to this day has never left me. If anything I'm more in love with the game! lol I'm dieing to get my hands on the new one. *___*

I first heard of NiGHTS when it came out and always thought it looked like a game I should buy when I got a Sega Saturn. Then 9 years later when I came across a Saturn for $5 (bargin! ) the first game I thought about buying was NiD.

Bought it when it was first released in the UK - '96 right? I suppose I first learnt about in SSM (great mag). And its kept me going all that time, on and off. The level design and scoring system is just unlike anything ever made before or after imo. Hears hoping JoD does it justice!

I was a hardcore Sega fan back in the day and had been pestering my folks about a Saturn for Christmas 1996. I'd seen NiGHTS about in magazines and even got to watch it in action at a local computer shop. Finally Christmas rolled around and not only had my 'rents got me a Saturn with NiGHS and the '3D Controller' they got Christmas NiGHTS too, which I became a little obsessed with trying to unlock Reala and Sonic.

Basically I kept dusting off my Saturn to give the game a blast through and saw Trippy's Deviant Art through a message board. I think I was after some NiGHTS images at the time and a few months later the NID website was up and running! The rest is history.

I was a major Nintendo fanboy in the days of the NES/SNES/N64, but when it came Gamecube launch time, there wasn't really any one game that stuck out that both my brother and I felt we NEEDED to get with it. We ended up deciding on Sonic Adventure 2: Battle because, despite anti-Sega feelings, we'd both been fans of the Blue Blur; we used to watch Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and I'd enjoyed what little I'd played of the Sonic games at friends and cousins places.

After that, my fanboyish tendencies slowly started to melt away, and I eventually decided that I was gonna collect Sega's old consoles, so I could enjoy all the games I'd missed out on in the past. The first to join my collection was a Saturn (two of them, actually) in 2004, a machine I had barely any knowledge of. I think a friend of mine may have mentioned playing one once back in the late ninties/early 2000, but other than that, I had absolutely no knowledge of the machine's existance. From what I knew, Sega went Master System, Mega Drive, a big break, then Dreamcast, after which... well... we all know what happened.

One of the games that came with my Saturn(s) was NiGHTS, a game that I'd never heard of, one that really only stood out to me because of it's Sonic Team logo. I decided that it was to be the game I'd test the system with, and I didn't really get it at first. The kids moved about fine, but the as soon as I got NiGHTS, I didn't quite get what was going on. It was a 3d game, right? Why's my guy only moving in two dimensions, then? Some cursory research led me to the NiGHTS board on GameFAQS, where I saw plenty of talk about the 3d controller being necessary so I figured, given that I didn't have one, THAT must be my problem. The game was then set to the side while my brother and I enjoyed some Road Rash and Die Hard Arcade.

Eventually, I did some further research and experimentation with NiGHTS. Everyone was talking about how good it was, and Sonic Team hadn't defecated all over their reputation yet, so I was keen to play one of their masterpieces, so I kept on trying to figure it out. I eventually learnt that NiGHTS is MEANT to move in 2d only, and that claims of the 3d pad being 'necessary' were far exaggerated (while I'm sure it makes things a lot smoother, I've been doing fine with my digital pad for the last few years), and I really got into the game after that. I've been a fan since.

This post ended up quite a bit longer than I expected. I don't know why, but I tend to get very wordy while telling these kinds of stories.

A few years back, when I got Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. There's some NiGHTS posters in one of the levels. I got curious and looked it up. I couldn't find NiD.com at first. The source I had made it sound like Claris' name was Reala and she transformed into NiGHTS using the Ideya. That's wrong of course. I finally found NiD.com and was in shock at how cool the game sounded. It took 5 months and 60 bucks before I got my Saturn, and my perfectly-mint-with-controller-of-awesome copy of NiGHTS. When I played, I couldn't stop. As little of a storyline as there was, I came up with my own, and borrowed some of the fan-community's ideas. I did that until I had my own little NiGHTS storyline for the game. I decided to join the forums and...Well, lets say that when they closed, I felt like someone very close to me died. I stopped playing, stopped going to NiD.com. Until, one night when my friend, Emi-chan was over...At 1:30 in the morning, I checked the site on a whim. And lo and behold, there it was, it huge letters: NiGHTS 2.
