As for Midnight, I think it's okay and definitely well written, but it seemed kind of silly to me 'cause really there wasn't much to be afraid of. The people freaked out 'cause that chick was mimicking them and it just seemed really silly. The only legitimate thing to be scared of in that episode is the Doctor being thrown out the hatch.
There's a lot to fear than just fearing for one's life. There's fear of the unknown. This is what Midnight really focuses on; humans' fear of the unknown AND human instinct in general. The Doctor stands as the voice of reason among several humans who can't understand what's going on--people who are reverting back into primitive thinking because they're not sure what to make of the situation.
No Doctor Who episodes are truely scary unless you put yourself in that situation. Think of it. Something is banging around outside and you don't know what it is. It already has killed two people nearby. It manages to get inside, and you still can't see it. It's posessed someone. Now it's posessing another. Who's to tell what's going to happen next? Are the posessed ones lost forever, or are they just in their subconcious? It sends shivers down MY spine, but then again, I'm so empathic that I lose touch with reality when watching DW.
Rose's puny gun
Puny gun? PUNY GUN?! That thing was bigger than she was! Also, Torchwood technology (remember, she works on Other Worldly Torchwood London). It was designed to pwn Daleks.
I did, however, like the part with the second Doctor and Rose at the end. 'Cause now there's no more reason to bring Rose back into the series!!
I like Rose. She responds to situations as I would. =<
