I can't help but feel like Katamari and NiGHTS relate to each other in some way.. what with the unique characters, innovative gameplay each provides and cheerful kind of demeanor.. there's a few Katamari songs I could imagine NiGHTS flying around to..
Who else lurves this series? Discuss..

Ah yes that be a game I haven't played yet however...
A friend of mine downloaded a demo of it on one of his systems. Note that this isn't the type of game he would play because he is mainly first person shooters and co-op games. He, in a matter of fact, had put the game down before all this like months ago when my cousin was playing a version of that. (He is apparently a fan. XD)
Anyways in the demo it was about to give out his score or something that relates to a rainbow in which I (In correct timing since I haven't played the game yet.) yell out "Gheeeey!"
This makes one of the people that was watching him play laugh hysterically and my friend to say "You... you shut up... you don't know the great power of the Great Kata... Katamari... however the hell you say it..."
Made me want to play it though. XD

I didn't get a chance to play Katamari Damacy, but I own We Love Katamari. Nothing better to cheer up a crappy day than rolling everything up, from candy to entire continents!

My best friend loves that game, and I think he was We Love Katamari, too. I think those games are a little wacky but I don't mind watching him play. Rolling up various objects, people and continents is kind of fun to watch, surprisingly. Oh, now I have that ridiculously addictive title screen background music in my head. Argh! ><

What I hate is now Beautiful Katamari is coming, and I don't have plans for an Xbox 360 at the moment. I'm hoping they're working on a Katamari Wii game..

I haven't played in a while either.. I wanna play again but I'm currently playing through Okami. That is one game you don't take a 'break' from.. when I finally finish it, I'll go for a round of We Love Katamari. I got a few games I gotta start and finish before NiGHTS comes out..

K-K-Katamariii~ T_T I LOVE KATAMARI! You're right, I do get a similar feel when I play Katamari. Everlasting Love is a song I listen to on my iPod a whole lot and it makes me pretty happy, actually. ^^; *Was just drawing a pic of Prince on Purg's head*
I want to make a paper Prince.
Anyway- I've been addicted to playing Everyone Loves Katamari (We Love Katamari) a lot lately and I really enjoy it more than the first. I like being able to seek out and play as the cousins whenever you wish and the interesting cut scenes they have with the King growing up.

Ah yes, the ever addictive game that is Katamari. I love that game so very, very much. I remember the first time I played it was at a "party" with a few friends. That game is absolutely hysterical after a few drinks.
I can still remember my buddy laying on the ground laughing for a half hour because I wouldn't stop telling him how I rolled over a cow.

Topic revived due to news: http://g4tv.com/thef...yStation-3.html
It's about time Katamari came to the successor to its original console, though it looks like it'll be a remix of sorts with new content instead of a brand new game.

Nooooo~! Again I regret not having a PS3 XD This must be like my favorite game series after NiGHTS, although I only played Beautiful Katamari and Me&My Katamari yet, of which i prefer the latter. Those tiny islands are so cute<3 I'm really thrilled to see what they pack into the remix. But I've got a question to everyon: Who's your favorite Cousin? I mean there's loads of them, but you sure all have a favorite one, right? I just love Kinoko, June, Ichigo and Paula, but Kinoko the most xD That kicking dirt-up while walking makes her so adorable, and also who doesnt like mushrooms?!

I've never played a Katamari game. I've always found it interesting but I never had the chance to play it or should I say every time I went to buy games it seemed to never be on my mind. I have to get at least one of the Katamari games before the year ends.

If you're going to get just one Katamari game, I recommend the sequel, We Love Katamari. If you have a PS2. Overall We Love is probably the strongest title so far in the series.

Note to PS3 owners: Demo is live!

hate to be a bubble-buster, but the demo went live sometime last week. The only reason I know about it is my old roomie told me (I hadn't turned on my ps3 for months before this). Also, I got extremely lucky that a current roomie works at a gamestop and told me his store had been selling the new katamari before street-date. Obviously, I ditched my music-making for the night and calmly bought it before running outside and doing a couple flips of joy.
All in all I'd rate it my 3rd favorite, right under the original. Seems like they're finally realizing a few things a) the 360 controller sucked for katamari, the psp sucks for katamari and c) the iPhone sucks for katamari. The 1080p makes the new filters look fantastic, but there's a bit of slowdown and stuttering that I can't help but find nagging at times. The remixes of music are 2/3's good, 1/3 not-so-good. Definitely not as good as the original, and not nearly as good as We <3, but it is absolutely a satisfying Katamari experience.
Time to break out the acoustic guitar and redo my rendition of Katamari on the Rock.
Na-na-nanananana-na-na-na Katamari Damacy........

Woah you got a copy already? Sweet..
Figure I'll still report it here since no one else has (hadn't checked PSN in a bit)
How's the sixaxis control? Is that used to flip now, or something..
I just want all the music from the first two games to be available at least. That's the one thing I wished We Love had was unlockable music from the first game, at least the original version of the main theme. I'm still on that rose mission..

Well, at the moment, it does NOT support custom soundtracks (that'd be the easy way to get all the original music) and it doesn't look like it is unlockable. I agree that being able to put in the songs from the other games would be either a perfect unlockable, or to just allow any songs on the PS3. That's really stupid to omit simply because it seems such an easy and LOGICAL thing to include. Maybe they'll put it in a patch update, who knows, but I think I might send something to them suggesting and requesting that, and if I do, I'll ask others to do the same. If enough people make noise, then the ones in charge start to listen.
As for sixaxis, it's so far only used for one friggin' thing: jumping. Now this is a GREAT enhancement and makes a lot of the game easier (well, not necessarily easier, just much less frustrating), and since the sixaxis motion sensing is only used for this (I believe there is a button you can use as well) it's probably the best use for actual gameplay I've seen this motion controls utilized for yet. Not even a gimmick though, because when you're rolling and your thumbs are on the analog sticks, trying to press any face or even shoulder buttons is a break in the flow. I've honestly never used the prince view or the like during gameplay, and since trying to roll on top of things really tall by "rolling up" the side is hit-or-miss, using the jump is great. Jumping over moving objects that may hit you, and jumping high to get out-of-reach things like presents hanging from birds or whatever....well, you can clearly see the advantage. It isn't even like a jump: it's like you're punting the prince and the katamari, it's fantastic!

I have to day, I played this game only once and was hooked to it. Unfortunatley, I can't seem to get my hands on a copy, but there was someting endearing about it... The bright colors... the happy music... the encredibly quirky story.... giant balls of sumo wrestlers...

K, now I got the demo, Prince Hop is cool. A jump move is a good addition. However using L2/R2 may be more reliable than using the sixaxis, I just had some trouble getting my trajectory down. I wonder how using the sixaxis would be for turning.. I always find myself instinctively turning the controller as I move, lol.
Oh and TORiAS, just letting you know the first two games are like, 10 and 15 dollars on Amazon.

TORiAS: Must get the games. They're amazing and pretty much like a digitally addictive substance The first two are still the best two as well, and even after you've demolished every score in every level for both, you still have a) replay value the infamous "rose level" for We <3 Katamari (hint: that will take you a very very very long time to finish, it's worse than grinding for an MMO), and c) the hillarious item index with explanations. So quotable!
viperxmns: they tried that with the iPhone, and pardon my using an already-overused phrase, but it was a massive fail. Just....terrible. If it were accurate, like maybe the Wii's 1-to-1 motion tracking, and were reliable, then yes, it'd be an improvement over the thumb sticks. The thumb sticks still feel right, though. Like if you're actually operating something with two wheels, like a wheel chair, the movement of that is identically analogous to how Katamari's roll.
Na na....OH I REALLY NEED TO STOP SINGING THIS SONG, IT'S STILL STUCK IN MY HEAD!
