We've all seen the trailer by now and i keep looking at the boss stage in the gameplay footage; i keep thinking of a giant pinball table but i kinda know that it's not. My idea to defeat this boss is that ur supposed to get it to the top of the structure and throw the clown Maren into the jaws at the top. It's weird, no?

Anyone any thoughts on the stage?

Am i in the right place?

Yar, seems that way from the trailer... The stage does look nice, but I'm kind of annoyed at how they basically redid the Puffy battle, but bigger... hell, this Puffle/Fuckle even looks like Puffy! XD
The big set of jaws at the top are frickin' sweet looking though. I mean, sweet Jesus does that looks awesome. Also, I'm diggin' that the door that Fuckle comes out of is shaped like a cloak wearing Reala... must draw badass Reala art now...

I hope that the way you defeat the maren doesn't have to do with it making contact with those awfully sharp teeth-spikes in the mouth of that... THING.

LOL That would be so funny if Phuckle popped and they played "pop goes the weasel". XD As for the level it is reminiscent of a pinball machine. It also looked like the ground will tilt around. Might be wrong about that though. They really ripped of Puffy, having Phuckle bust through the walls and such, not to mention the obvious similarities in appearance. One thing I like is the doorway with the teeth. It gives the battle a much more ominous and dramatic feel.

I really like the boss and stage. It has a very detailed theme of a common nightmare that we can all relate to. Phuckle may represent the fear of lost progress, the feeling that what you've strived for has been undone. You are supposed to force Phuckle to the top but he is continuosly lowering itself and blocking motion with obstacles. I also like the immense amount of breaking that occurs in the stage.

I dare say that Sega would get a lot of backlash if they named it Fuckle.
Nobody would dare make a strategy guide for that game. It would also be bad for merchandising. Imagine "To defeat the first boss, you must force Fuckle to the top off the stage while avoiding obstacles" The bold part would be quoted and the strategy guide maker would never live it down. Imagine if they decided to give out Fuckle dolls as a promotional item. The guy at your Gamestop would be forced to say "Preorder NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams and get a free Fuckle doll". Don't get me wrong, that would cause a lot of pre-orders for JoD, but Gamestop would become the game store equivalent of Hooters when they lost younger customers.

When I first saw the trailer I thought that HUGE thing they were showing was a really big over dramatic throne XD LoL. But then as it kept going lower and lower I thought it WAS the boss and they were pulling a "Shadow of the Colossus: on us XD. Then I see tiny ass Fuckle come thru the doorway like "What's up?! =oD" I was like o.O .... no Fuckle, that's too awesome for you XD.

As for the Puffy rip off part, you guys forgot to mention that the bounce sound effect they used was the very same XD

Just so you guys know, I generally write it as Phuckle. I wrote it as Fuckle before just for the sake of making my point. Oh and to Katkitoshi. You would go up to random mothers and say "preorder JoD and get a free Fuckle for your kid" right? Yep, I made a new and improved version just for you.

I do like Puffle to a degree as well. While it's nothing new, and dangit, we want new, a little nostalgic part of me is all warm and fuzzy! :3 Puffy was, and still is, one of my fave bosses, so it feels good to have some familiar ground.

But I'm all for new-ness too! Waaah, I'm such a wishy-washy fool. XD

As for marketing this particular boss' nickname... *gigglesnort* We'd suffer and die from the whiplash reaction of parents worldwide!

Um. Backlash, not whiplash. I only hope the JoD team aren't getting any ideas from this thread. When we hear the actual name, we'll be like "it's okay, but I like Ph(F)uckle better" because we're so used to it. If some people on this board have kids though, we may have to reconsider. I wonder what Jacko would say if he saw this.

Anyway.. I've been doing some thinking, and this is based on Claris and Elliot from the original NiD with each their own set of bosses. That boss there could be William's, and it represents the sport that he likes (being soccer/futbol').
