After reading the new news on the N:JoD Page of the site, I think it's time to start letting our Theories on Claris and Elliot out....:

Are they in the new game?

What do you think?

I think..... yes. They might be NPCs in the new game, or guides in a tutorial mode. Or, maybe they play a small part in helping NiGHTS. Or all three.

I doubt they will be playable characters (Unless they are unlockable.).

My most bizarre theory is that they have fallen for Reala and the darkside, and it's up to the two kids to bring them back to good.....

So, what do you tink x3?!

I haven't a clue how far this game is set after the original but its possible that they may be related in some way to the new kids, i have an image of elliot and clairs' spawn and they aren't all blond haired and cutesy.....>.>
But still, theorizing is all well and good but it could simply be that they aren't in it, end of dream/story.

Both Play and Edge say they're back, but I really think that its some kind of mistake.. If they are back, I will still think the magazines just coincidentally are right. Because the way they said it sounds like they jumped the gun and made them the main kids in the game, with no mention of Helen and William.

The dopey child stars of Into Dreams are set to return, but no word yet whether they'll still be in their teens, or if we'll be encountering Elliot and Claris as adults meeting at a rehab after their pro-ball and acting dreams were respectively shattered.

(I really should just scan this damned article.) See? Grossly misinformed. Claris in acting? SINGING! (Bump the quote's sarcasm, I don't mean the the sarcasm.) But yeah, if you read the whole blurb at a whopping four paragraphs, there is absolutely no mention of them, and this issue came out long after we at the forums already knew that they would take their places.

I think that if there is a multiplayer mode, it'll be more extensive than the one in NiD, perhaps with the ability to control children, and if so, Claris and Elliot could be selectable, kind of like Sonic and the Secret Rings having Shadow, Cream, Rouge, etc.

I don't know, that's just my idea.

That's basically what the other side of me is thinking.... they jumped the gun, or assumed Claris and Elliot got extreme makeovers and became blonde....

I have a feeling we're going to be let down on the aspect of Claris and Elliot.

Hopefully they'll be unlockable.

The closer it gets to the release date of the game the more I think that Claris and Elliot really aren't returning. I would think by now that more than 2 magazines would have mentioned the kids return. I would like to see them as a cameo shot or something though. Guess we just have to do more of the waiting game.

I sent in scans from the german mag n-zone a while back (it's on the JoD news page) and it had a little box with facts at the side and it said Claris and Elliot would be back ._. So thats 3 mags that have meantioned it...doesn't nessesarily make it true though D:

That might be true...., after all, SEGA might've kept the two new dreamers in secrecy, or Edge and other magazines were just misinformed.

You know how for the last battle of NiD NiGHTS morphs with Claris and Elliot at the same time? If Claris and Elliot could come back for tri or quad morphing, I would be greatly pleased.

Ooooh, I'm liking all of these ideyas! Cameo, unlockable secret a la Christmas NiGHTS, surprise appearance during gameplay...

Thus far, I've been settling for a brief cameo, even after the game is done. Helen and Will run down the street during the day, and they tear past two grown-up versions of Elliot and Claris, who watch them with a grin. Almost as if they know NiGHTS is still around. A sort of passing of the torch, if yanno what I mean.

It seems logical to me that NiGHTS would want to visit Elliot and Claris after being freed from his cage. I think SEGA pretty much HAS to include C+E as a fan service.

I seriously don't want Claris and Elliot to come back. It's best we leave them to their happily ever after, in my opinion. And judging from what we're seeing on Helen and William, I'll bet that's what'll happen.

This game is obviously set a long time BEFORE the first one, which was set in the Future. Hell, the first game had Hover-freeking-cars. If I remember rightly, it was set in the same univers as Burning Rangers, which had Space Stations. Twin Seeds had a mad futuristic look to it.

This setting is much more Victorian/Present Day. So you know... Elliot and Claris.. wouldn't exist yet. Unless what happens in Nightopia happens outwith the current rules of Time and Space, or it is indeed a loose re-make, in which the setting is just different, they can't have difnitive roles in the game.

According to a Easter Egg in Burning Ranges, NiD takes place during Burning Rangers (Rescuing Claris and Elliot during BR, anybody x3?! Something like that.). So... YES, you probably be right.... *MIND BLWON AGAIN*

Unless they're not keeping their facts straight. Or they just throw that whole thing out the window like it didn't happen. Either way, if they're in it, I have major doubts that it will tie into the storyline. Maybe on a multiplayer or something.

Actually, thinking about it again, perhaps it could correlate like this- the way NiGHTS looks now, he merges with Helen and William. In order to play as classic NiGHTS as an unlockable, perhaps that could mean unlocking Claris and Elliot to merge with him, a la old school.

Seriously though, we still haven't seen any Pians, Reala (what kind of facelift might we expect eh?), Wizeman, .. Sonic Team certainly is keeping everything hush hush.

I'm not sure I buy into that whole "NiD takes place in the future" theory. Where's the proof of that?

The way I see it, everything about the NiD is meant to be ambiguous. The time and place could be anywhere and anywhen (post-electricity, of course), Claris and Elliot could be any pre-pubescent age and we barely know a Gorramn thing about NiGHTS. What I've seen of JoD maintains that tradition. The city we've seen in the screenshots could be any city. It could take place in any post-industrial time and in any country. The only thing we know for sure is that the JoD city is not Twin Seeds.

Bottom line: I see absolutely no reason to believe that Claris and Elliot will have parts to play in this. JoD is a completely different story featuring completely different kids.

Well, however bad the time correlation between NiD's and JoD's settings are, at least they wouldn't be as bad as the whole "Mario and Baby Mario at the same time" situation in some of the Mario games. (Mainly the tennis games, and Mario Kart: Double Dash, I guess). :S

I really can't see Claris and Elliot returning in the actual game cause it is set in Bellbridge and we have no specific information as to if this is a sequel (which i mainly think is) or a prequel or how much time there is between the two games. But i still like to see them as multi-playable characters.

I agree with Jof's theory. I think they haven't even been born yet in the game so therefore will not appear. Or the new game has nothing to do with the previous one and is a complete reamake which will also make Clairs and Elliot not there. I don't know which because Sega won't say much.

All in all, I think the chance of Clairs and Elliot appearing in the game are the same as the chances of Jackle appearing as well. Its just not going to happen...

I think it's...um...I don't know.

Set slightly into the future, maybe. Perhaps they'll appear on the final level which wouldbe like Twin Seeds. You'd be able to see their faint outlines shimmering around Helen and William.

Hell no. We just love Claris and Elliot, that's all :|. I personally like 'em more than Will and Helen. Why can't they be in the game? It's not like SEGA to not put them in a cameo or something. I have not played either game.

Still, I think it's best for Claris and Elliot to be left to their happily ever after. We already have enough recurring characters by way of Reala, Wizeman and of course, NiGHTS.

I think that with JoD, we have to let the last game's protagonists go.
