Agreed.Looks like our guesses about the key were right. And I'm not all that disappointed, just watching the gameplay gives me that comfortable feeling like with the original, it has a similar feel.
I just wonder if the Ideya will make an appearance in the game at all >>.

Actually, the little colored gem thing in the keys might be Ideya.

well, now youve seen it and squeed, and all is right with the world
I had a feeling that no matter how restricted the budget and devleopment time was, Iizuka just sounded WAY too passionate about this game to screw it up.

anyone notice that the blue chips look alot more like blue ideya than the original chips? you think that's an oversight or is that on purpose?
I noticed the little starry stuff inside. they definitely look like ideya.

I don't want to get too excited unless it turns out to be horrid but DAMn it's looking good so far. Ok, so it's an early build, there's no HUD and not even any music but it's NiGHTS! It looks like NiGHTS, sounds like NiGHTS and actually could be some fun. The only negative I'm going to throw in is the sound going through the rings isn't quite right! or it doesn't play the same tune as in the first.

If they've got rid of the timer, it would make things easier on people who hate timers, so that they don't have to rush or whatever.

I actually freaked out about the game play so i'm really happy that the game play footage is now out. I've looked at game play from the previous game and i've noticed that, when compared to the new game, there appears to be no timer and NiGHTS now carries around a key. Have they got rid of the timer and the Ideya have become keys?

Eh, what? The timer is the crux of NiGHTS' gameplay! It's a time attack sort of game. Based on the Iizuka interview with Nintendo Power, I really doubt they got rid of the timer. The timer was absent because nearly everything was absent -- there wasn't any HUD period.

I haven't had time to go thorugh everyone's messages, but apart form the gameplay, have you all seen the trailer at IGN ? The gameplay video shows a lot more, but it's still pretty neat (although the narrator sounds like he's describing chronicles of narnia or peter pan or something - shame that)
I can honestly say that this game is going to have been worth the 11 year wait
annnnnnd *relief*

If I'm dead wrong, then they still have time to work things out anyway. =) I'm also hoping that the music Subterfuge posted is official - I liked it a lot.

If you think about it this couldn't have been done on the Saturn with the limited technology, it requires a lot of polygons, so maybe this is how it was originally intended to be on the first NiGHTS. I don't see where else it could have came from. I'm gonna have to get used to this.

The preview in this month's issue of Edge states, "The breeding side of the game, combining Mepians and Nightopians (and eventually raising a Superpian), will also feature, though there are no indications of the level of complexity."Not to shatter the emotional reception already, but I thought I'd be first to jump the gun and point out a few things. Number one of my list being: No 'Pians? It could be a bit quick to judge, but from this, it would seem that there is no A-Life system. If that's so, it could be a huge let down for me and, I'm sure, a lot of the other fans.
I'm not sure if the names they're using there refer specifically to the new game, or if the terminology is just being used to quickly recap of what was available in the original.
For me, the footage looks very promising. The trailer placed a lot of emphasis on the Sega Superstars-style "in your face" sections viewed from behind, but the gameplay footage video gives the two views a bit more balance. I'd have to play it to comment on the new 3/4 view camera angle, but I agree with the statement that it seems slower than before, especially in those behind-the-back sections.
There's obviously no HUD at the moment, so we'll have to wait a bit longer to see how the score attack system will work. But you CAN hear that the sound effects increasing in pitch as NiGHTS flies through the rings, so hopefully that implies that links are in there to some extent... the question is whether the levels will be well-designed enough to allow for the scope for improvement as the original's infinite links.

We really got to get people who haven't played NiGHTS to try it out on a Saturn emulator. I know some people think that its 'illegal' but with all the loopholes surrounding the whole issue, it really doesn't matter what anyone does anymore.I never was able to play the first game sooo, i guess i dont have anything to miss from it when it comes to the new one.
