I don't have the strongest laptop in the world. In fact, I'm almost certain it's the integrated graphics chip that causes the framerate to drop in places. Although I'm sensing the problem is my hardware, I still figure it's best to ask the community if they too experience a reduction in the game's performance. There are spots on Splash Garden, Mystic Forest, and Stick Canyon that break the game's smoothness. Trick ribbons also seem to trigger a drop in frames.

So long story short: Does anyone who actually has a good PC experience these slowdowns?

Super late, but it's a mix of both. NiGHTS PC is very poorly optimized just like most of the in-house SEGA ports, but I've noticed that the Trick Ribbon bug seems to only happen on laptops/notebooks. The desktop I was using before I got my own laptop ran the game fine as long as I lowered the resolution enough, and that desktop was less powerful than the laptop I had.
