Sega Superstars is a game for the Playstation 2 that makes use of the EyeToy camera to play Sega character related minigames with motion sensing. One minigame is based on NiGHTS, with two levels with different difficulty levels: Spring Valley and Twin Seeds. I never actually played the original, but I played this, and enjoyed it. Tell me and everyone else here what you think about the NiGHTS minigame and how it relates to NiGHTS into Dreams!

I don't think any minigame version of NiGHTS can even begin to compare with the Saturn title. That being said, the Superstars NiGHTS has the same whimsical feel as the original and was definitely in the upper echelon of minigames on the collection. It's certainly better than that Crazy Taxi rubbish.

Funny you should mention this game, since I just got back from a weekend camp here, and took my EyeToy and Superstars along for the ride (we had a massive projection screen to play with, so NiGHTS was pretty much the same size as the person playing. Awesomesauce). It was pretty much a hit, since no one there knew of NiGHTS and got to experience the game with a, er, 'hands-on' experience.

I find it enjoyable to play out of the collection on the disc, and as Zero-Shift said, it still retains that same whimsical feeling from the original levels.

On a side note, I fail dramatically at the Hard level of this game; I find it more enjoyable to just glide around and stare at the scenery <3

I never exactly got it working, which frustrated me GREATLY, but.... ah well. I did get it to work once. It was good, but the original was WAY better, imo.

I went for option two, but the word 'but' in it implies that 1. it was intended to have the same feel (its a completely different viewpoint and interface so I dont think it was meant to inthe first place) and 2. having a different feel isnt necessarily a bad thing, is it?

Overall I loved it, great graphics and gameplay. I think its the best appearance of NiGHTS in a game since the originals.

Only real negative is that you cant really play it for more than 10 minutes without your arms aching :D

I never played it. :/ I wish I could have it just for the sake of owning yet another little something with NiGHTS in it, but alas, I don't think I've really seen it around anymore. Also, I don't have an Eyetoy and I don't think I'm iterested in that kind of a game.

The graphics in it were better than JoD, other than that it was god awful.

Can I point out that just because a game is newer, doesn't mean it'll have better graphics than an older game. Hell, most Wii launch games were sub-GC standard. And unless JoD has some nice, flashy, unheard of things going on with the graphics, then it's not going to be much of a looker. The shots so far don't exactly paint a pretty picture.

I agree.. the pictures we've seen don't look all that great. I hope that they improve!

What part of "the graphics aren't great because the producers haven't perfected them yet" do you people not understand?! Jeez. Just because the Wii isn't "ZOMG $600 BUCKS" doesn't mean that it can't produce good graphics...

*cough* Sorry.

Purgatory, lol thats what I meant by SSS having better graphics, in the sense that JoD isnt even finished yet, let alone out.

You know, usually I'd agree that they could be improved, but looking at the development studio, the time frame the game is being made in and the general quality of graphic in Wii games (which I'm quite aware can look good, developers just seem to have taken Nintendo's "Graphics don't make a good game" to mean "Make a game look like crap". So don't be an arse Ezekial), things aren't looking too bright.

But either way I was just pointing out that the graphics were perhaps the minigames only strong point.

Yes, nice looking game, nice enough level design, but the controls only really worked when you leveled up enough, so the game wasn't fun until the second play through. This ruined what could have been an okay game.

I dunno, I found the control enhancing skills...too control enhancing. The Quick Mega Step made it too hard to pinpoint where I wanted hedgy to go.

You're supposed to find a balance, you don't just use every skill. I just experimented until I found a way to make the game control OK.

Well, anyway, I don't think this RUINED it. It was a fun game IMO; it had a decent story, as you said, good graphics, witty banter...but no NiGHTS cameo. :D Oh well. It was a steaming load better than Sonic the Hedgehog though.

I'm thinking that the graphics might improve slowly over time. They are slowly, see. The one on the bottom is a bit sharper.:

Of course, one image may just have a lower resolution than the other, and the one on the top is too bright, but.... yeah. I'm thinking the release date is most likely gonna end up getting pushed more towards November/X-Mas in the States (and all over) for more time for graphics/bug fixes, soo.... we'll just have to wait and see ;).

I've never played it and for some reason I can't find any videos online of people playing it. They mostly seem to care for some Sonic mini game and the Space Channel 5 game.
