So I haven't been here in over a year... Much more. And it got me thinking, compared to back when I did post here regularly, my lucid dreaming skills have grown immensely. I can actually steer while flying now! (Yes this is notable)

So I ask you this: What milestones have you noticed in your dreaming from the past year? I know lucid dreaming is hard for a lot of you, so lets celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small, and cheer each other on.

Talking about it helps keep it fresh in my mind, I've noticed.  My friend listens to me tell him about my dreams, but doesn't really take much interest himself in actually dreaming.

That's awesome about the flying!  You're further along than I am, haha.  Flying for me is more like trying to stay afloat - think Mario in the winged cap in Super Mario 64.

I have actually been getting better in those moments where I come to realize that I'm dreaming, usually dummy me goes, "OH!  I'm dreaming!" and suddenly I find myself being pulled back into the waking world.. however, while I was on vacation, I was in the middle of a dream that was frustrating the daylights out of me.  It was noticeably monochrome, everything in greyscale.  At one point, after being handed a beverage by someone who I was talking to, I looked down at my hands and looked up, said, "I'm dreaming.." set my bottle down, kept my focus and stayed asleep - went over and put my hand on the chest of that person (like right over his heart), and suddenly everything burst into vivid color.

..it was nothing shy of amazing.

Still woke up after a few minutes of lucidity, though.. boo.

I've only had the occasional burst of lucidity, past and present. XD; A few years ago during an action-y dream, I realized that I needed some money, and after focusing for a bit, was able to conjure up some.

More recently (like the night before last), I was in a shop with someone who was acting as my bodyguard, and looking over some Pokemon figurines. A fairly common and immensely frustrating aspect of my dreams is that I come across things I like, usually toys or books, and get all excited about playing with or reading/scanning them when I wake up. This time, I had a brief lucid moment and acknowledged that, no, those figurines weren't coming with me.

I think I purposefully didn't try to sustain it, as after a few seconds things started getting all fuzzy, indicating that I was about to wake up.

I... Well, I'm a dangerously powerful lucid, as proven by the one dream I had when I was lucid and ill with a fever. (I wonder if I can post the fanfic version of it on here...) I also can change things instantly to my will when I am lucid, much to NiGHTS's dismay. Never tried flying; me being lucid is a rare occurrence. But when I am lucid... It seems it's powerful.

@ Infractus: Yeah... I remember having to constantly stay up, too. It still happens sometimes. Just keep at it, slowly you'll work out what tricks work for you. At least, that's what I did. ^^;  I'm still actually really bad at consciously realizing I'm dreaming, myself. I just dream, and do lucid dream like things without thinking about it, and then I say things like, "I am so glad I'm asleep right now. Wait, I'm asleep?" I have no idea what to make of it.

@gonzo : It's really hard to maintain lucidity at first, when I first started I would be so startled by the sudden change I would make myself wake up instantly. But slowly over time, they would last longer and longer.  You can do it!

@ Sammy: Wow, NiGHTS almost never shows up in my dreams. That's really cool!  I think I can remember about two dreams with NiGHTS. Ask him/her for lessons next time you see him/her.

And take note everybody: the more you talk about your dreams, the more it gets your brain to pay attention while dreaming.  It trains your brain to take notes as you sleep for later, which is one step towards your brain being aware enough to go lucid.

@Sierra - Well, he does tend to show up a bit. Not too often, but once or twice a month, and then a no show for two months, and then three times in one week... It's scattered with him. (I automatically use male pronouns for NiGHTS; sorry) Little bugger likes to poke fun at me too. But, next time I'm actually lucid, I'll ask him if he can teach me to fly. Because flying sounds really fun.

I can't do it too often, but just last night I managed to fly in the rain and control where I was going for the most part. Wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened. I seem to have flying dreams fairly often when I do remember my dreams.

@Musashi: Yeah, I do the same thing. As soon as I become lucid enough, I generally go straight to flying. I went skydiving the other night!  I'm really happy my flying is improving so quickly. ^^

I actually had a dream once where I was Peter Pan. That was REALLY something.

I can barely get any quality sleep at all, let alone lucid dream. Even when I go to bed at a good time, I still wake up too early to have any real dreams, and then I can't get back to sleep. I have a dream journal, but how can I use it to record dreams when I barely have any at all? As I type this, it's 5:30 in the morning, and I went to bed at midnight. I should create a thread for better sleep.
