While this port is pretty decent, I think we can all agree it's nowhere near perfect. The control issues have been discussed at length, but what else would you like to see from a NiGHTS port? You can include anything from fixes to missing features to even brand new features. I'll start...

Make level replays available for the top 10 players. If people can watch and learn how the best players achieve high scores, they'll have more incentive to continue to stick around and improve. I doubt this would be very hard to implement. The game already records your gameplay for your local scoreboard immediately after the dream. Just have the server save and make it available to everyone else. Daytona has a similar system.

I was planning on making a thread like this. I guess great minds do think alike.

My "dream" port of NiGHTS would have the Sonic mode from Christmas NiGHTS, but it wouldn't be a simple graphical update. Instead, Sonic would be able to fly through the stages as Super Sonic. In addition to the Santa Eggman boss fight from the original Christmas NiGHTS, you can also fight Metal Sonic in Reala's boss area, and the music for Stardust Speedway Bad Future would play.

I don't know what else could be added. Two additional levels with two new bosses? It worked for Mega Man Powered Up. Perhaps a volcanic themed level with Queen Bella as the boss. I really dug that boss in Journey of Dreams.

It would be great if there was an additional option for Saturn Christmas dreams so you could play it through during the festive season, unlocking stuff via that card game. I used to love tinkering about with the music box and link attack.

For some reason, I always wondered what the JoD levels would be like with NiD's gameplay style, so I guess that.

I don't know, does the PS2/XBLA/PSN version of the game have Link Attack? I loved that mode.

Oh, another feature that should be put in is the Nightopian Garden from Journey of Dreams. That way, when you accidentally paraloop a Nightopian, you don't acually kill it, it just gets sent to Nightopian Garden. Now you can paraloop to your heart's content without worrying about murdering some cone-headed elf babies.

Besides the control stuff, mainly I want them to add the still missing features from the Saturn, and then in fantasy land, build on them.

-Add back 2 player NiGHTS vs. Reala mode, and give it an online matchmaking component.

-Add back Link Attack and give it Leaderboards so people can compete for the best Links.

-Make 'Acrobat Time' a competitive event as well. This could be done a few ways, like the game gives 'Simon says' like combos that you have to match.

So much of NiD can be competitive beyond mere scoring alone.

I'd like acrobat trick moves to have more of a purpose than just when using the trick ribbon. NiGHTS should be given points for flying stylishly (think MSR) Kuedos points. It just has always felt wasted to me that in a game with scoring that doing awesome moves while collecting items doesnt add to your score. Moves should be chained into links and point calculation. Not in a *IN YOUR FACE* kind of 'hipster kid on a skateboard' way though. Very subtle so not to distract from the main movement of flying focus. Then it would feel more like doing a proper ariel ballet.

Being able to 'drift' as NiGHTS would also be great. Holding down one of the air brakes when pulling a series of paraloops while skimming the ground. That'd be badass.

Viper, the simon says idea is really cool. It'd be like a more skillful version of the musical event in memory forest.

Yeah that was something I really liked in JoD, how doing tricks through rings gives you bonus points. That drift idea sounds interesting. In a environment like ASRT for example, the drift loop sounds like a way to create a void of doom in the middle of the road.

JoD sorta had this. If you performed a stunt while flying through rings or collecting chips, you got a small bonus tacked on to each link you made while doing it. It was nothing substantial. I think only 10 points each.

It's a bit embarrassing, but I'd always assumed that performing tricks while flying through rings DID get some kind of additional point bonus in original Nights. Tricks can be very useful when flying through rings for when you need to quickly change direction.

All these ideas sound great, they would be good inclusions for a sequel as well.

Drill dash speed needs to be tweaked. Same with dash panels. NiGHTS also feels extremely sluggish through the top-down segments in Mystic Forest and Splash Garden. Fix it!

Advanced stats for the leaderboards would be nice too. I'd like to be able to see other players' scores for each mare and what their highest link was. Maybe some other stuff.
