Announced today ~ NiGHTS into dreams… will be hitting PlayStation Network on the 2nd of October for $9.99 and Xbox LIVE Arcade on October the 5th for 800 Microsoft Points. An incredibly worthwhile purchase considering that the rare and amazing Christmas NiGHTS also comes included as a free bonus! That's right, it's not DLC, it's free. How great is that? NiGHTS as a stand-alone game had tons of replay value but Christmas NiGHTS was always the icing on the cake. I know a lot of fans who have never had the chance to play Christmas NiGHTS on the Saturn due to the difficulty in finding a copy as it was never for sale as a buyable game. Christmas NiGHTS was an extra disk that Sonic Team decided to give out for free as a Christmas gift. Consider it a DLC expansion pack before DLC ever existed on consoles, lol. Gamers could only get a copy by buying certain Saturn bundle packs or free from a couple of gaming magazines (or Ebay of course). So this is a great chance for new fans to experience a little festive spirit.

Christmas NiGHTS looks amazing in HD updated graphics. If you don't believe me wait until you're whizzing around the screen with a ton of crystal clear HD multicolored sparkles in your eyes chasing high scores to beautiful beautiful music (trying your hardest to not kill all your Mepians haha). There's a reason a lot of us still hook up our Saturns every Christmas to play this game. I'm so glad that a new generation will get to experience this lovely gift. It meant a lot to Sonic Team back then and it still does now.

It made me pretty tearful when i got to play it in the office for the first time… lots of fond memories of many Christmas holidays gone by.

Do me a big favour and buy this port when it comes out. In fact buy it as a Xmas gift for a gaming friend! They'll appreciate it, trust me. Christmas NiGHTS is a classic and memorable beautiful experience.
Not long to wait now guys. It'll soon be time to fly again :)

Glad to hear Christmas NiGHTS will be included, especially when these porting teams go the extra mile to wreck the game so they can sell parts separately.

I've heard rumors that many major chunks of Christmas NiGHTS will be missing and this is a port of the PS2 version, with all the problems that inherits. Any clarity or is this forum just for wreckless fanboyism? :P

I'm prolly gonna get it anyway, but given the last time I paid for one of their DC ports, I have no faith in SEGA's ability to do things properly.

Yay! October is such a fun time, and now this fabulous news makes it even better!

Will the Halloween NiGHTS mode from the PS2 be in this port?

Most excellent. The only question that remains for now is whether all the Saturn features are intact.

My bank account is achin' at the moment, so I'm going to have to wait for payday before I can play it. But I look forward to hearing how it compares to the other versions.

And I'm really looking forward to seeing how well my score stacks up to other players.

Only had time to play Spring Valley and now I have to take off for the night. My first impression is this is nearly identical to the PS2 version in terms of controls so it has it's fair share of issues :( I like the feature to play the bosses without having to play the mares...took me about 20 tries to paraloop gillwing in one hit, which makes it a little too difficult when compared to the sega saturn. Hope to share more info later tonight.

Downloaded while I was making dinner (epic fajita night) and played shortly. Crisp, clean, epic.
No hardcore major scores for me, though. Terrible, terrible. Talk to me about TF2 or BL2 instead.. bahahah..

I just finished my first playthrough of the game (except for xmas NiGHTS) and I hate to say it, but I cannot stand the controls. As much as I love NiGHTS and want to talk highly of it, if this was the original release of the game I would have stopped playing it after a few minutes. There is no comparison to the controls on the original sega saturn.

I'm hoping someone else can confirm this for me, but when I use the PS3 controller it seems like NiGHTS only moves in increments of about 20 degrees. It almost seems like it was programmed to fly in straight lines to make it easier for people...there is no way I could fly this straight on the sega saturn...

If you go perfectly straight to the right and then slowly move the analog stick up or down there will be no change in NiGHTS movement until you reach sometimes 45 degrees.

There were so many times in the last hour or so that I missed a link, a chip, or a link ball because the controls were not responsive enough.

I hope that the 360 version doesn't have this issue because I honestly cannot play this game. I'm going to check the PS2 version and see if it was this bad...

The fact that I've already yelled out in frustration at this game is disappointing...

I wish I had better things to say...the resolution of the game is the only nice thing about it, along with features like restarting a dream straight from the pause menu.

ah, you're gillwing on psn huh? is catgonecrazy a member on here? mine is kev_redfield, so they better watch out because my scores are getting better! haha

but anyway, i've been messing around with the brand new dreams and sega saturn dream, and paralooping gillwing was so much easier on the saturn dream. still more difficult than on the original, but easier than the new dream mode.

i've also noticed the odd directions NiGHTS takes, and it seems to happen in the saturn mode too, only it feels smoother and NiGHTS is easier to control

still getting used to flying around with the ps3 controller. that seems to be my main issue.

i saw that! i would get it, but i currently have $0.00 in my wallet :P
i wish they would have released some psn avatars too. i could use a NiGHTS one!

Anyone else here think the control issues in the PSN version could be due to the sensitivity of the PS3's analogue sticks? I'm playing the original Saturn version on an emulator with a PS3 controller and even that feels different than the Saturn's 3D control pad. I'd know since I frequently play the original on an actual Saturn with the 3D control pad.

I feel as if I'm missing out on something. I'm getting the PC version, and I've only played the original with the standard D-Pad controller + Keyboard & Emulator.

I've noticed problems, too, but it feels like every time I've first played a NiGHTS game, so I figure I'll get used to it. A modified controller would help, though, if someone can point out a PS3 controller with a shorter analog stick << My main issue in the short time I've had to play it, though, is Puffy. The camera seems to be centered on her rather than facing forward. I couldn't see where I was trying to throw her half the time, so that's something that definitely needs fixing...

I didn't know there was one! :D I need to buy another PSN card, then.
Also, I've heard about a PC version, but I can't seem to find it for purchase online. I was at GameStop yesterday and didn't see anything, either. Does anyone know where I can find it? I really want to be able to play NiGHTS outside of my apartment. ^w^

This was something i reported early on, but they said it was from the PS2 code and they couldnt fix it. (Legacy). It's considered a difference and not a bug. This happens a lot with ports. Unless it causes the game to crash it's prioritized into something minor. Though i do think that not being able to see where to throw the boss IS a problem still for new guys e_e Keep at it though, you'll figure it out. Think of it as an extra challenge, lol.
