NiD "whoops"-ies

Back when i first got the game I would go through each mare only once (not rerunning 'em with my remaining time) and barely even got C ranks, even in Spring Valley! I thought I was supposed to do 'em once & go on, but some looking around the net fixed me up. Now I've beaten the whole game.
So, anyone else willing to swallow their pride and laugh at their long-dead inner N00B?

Infact, I almost never dashed.

Same here, except when I just go through the mare once I usually get either "C", "D", and sometimes (not a lot, but usually once in every level) "A" or "B". I thought the same thing ._.! I need to try that now XD.Back when i first got the game I would go through each mare only once (not rerunning 'em with my remaining time) and barely even got C ranks, even in Spring Valley! Besides that, I use to think Minions weren't marens, Reala's name was "Relish" XD (I was real young), and a few other things I can't remember >.>! But, I use to be horribly terrified of the "NiGHT Over" screen (writing "NiGHT" like that was a coincidence XD).

I also couldn't complete the last mare of Stick Canyon for a good length of time... I distinctly remember getting very annoyed at it. Then when I did do it Jackle killed me loads of times! Oh god that was annoying. XD
One time I went on a speight of completing Christmas NiGHTS to get all the presents and to speed things up I was soft resetting after I'd got the presents. It must of took me about five completions to realise that I was resetting too early and all the data and the presents weren't being saved. D'oh. I've done that on the main game too - resetted right after Wizeman thinking it would have saved and inadvertantly wiping any high scores I'd just got... ^^;

Back when I was really little (I think I was 6 or 7), I didn't actually play NiGHTS myself. My mom played it, I just loved to sit and watch.
Anyway, although my mom had completely mastered Spring Valley, she never could figure out how to beat Gillwing. I'm talking like, after months of playing the game, she could not figure it out.
"No matter how many times I hit him he won't die aaaghh!! D: "
So anyway. Then one day I noticed something, and pointed at the screen and said, "Mommy, his tail's getting shorter. :0 "
She did fine after that.

Also, until I found The Green Hill Zone's page about NiD I though Donovan, someone's fancharacter, was a secret character or something like that since he kept turning up in fanfics ^^;

Another thing.. I thought Pians were bad, so I always killed them. I always wondered why they would run from me and stuffs, then I read somehwere you were supposed to breed them like chao; my reply was.. ".....oh."

However, when I found the NiD.com I was freaking out for the first couple of days because there was all this rainbow of colours aside from the five Ideya and all this talk of Gens... I thought I'd managed to somehow miss out on a huge section of the NiGHTS backstory despite my obsession. I eventually figured out it was all TRiP's material and now it's all good again XD

Ohhh, how familiar this sounds.Nothing really entertaining about my learning of NiD... I did the only go around the Mare's once thing of course... pretty sure everyone does that at the start XD

Me, last September: Ooh, I never noticed this page on Sonic-CulT before. What is this game? "NiGHTS Into Dreams?" Wasn't that, like, from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle? An in-depth analysis, huh? Cool...
Me, last October: Sweet! My Saturn finally came! It's here! YES!
The following few days: Okay, so I think that's how you do Stick Canyon, but why can't I get to the last level? Hmm...
About a week later, to my friend: ...And you fly through the rings for a high score and you have to beat the Minions and you can make Mepians -- like chao breeding -- except I can't figure out how and you can do all these stunts and there's these things called Gens but I can't figure out where they are in the game and they have all the different colors and I still can't figure out why my scores are so bad all the time but I saw a video where they did the level a bunch of times in a row and maybe I'll try that sometime and see what happens and...
Yep, that about sums up my first contact with the game. XDXD

At first I kept going into the idya capture machine and wondering why it wouldn't give me the Idya...I finally looked up up, realizing It actually said up in the corner how many blue chips you needed. I felt like a dork for not noticing. Also it took me forever to figure out why after I beat all the bosses once that Gulpo kept showing up instead of other bosses. So I deleted my file and started over again to see if it would change it. Turned out to be a mixture of a scratch on the disk (I got it second hand shipped from Hawaii...it's bound to have one or two marks.) and the fact that the bosses are random after you beat them once. I did NOT know that XD;

Donovan? WOW, that's a name I haven't heard in forever! XD Donovan was a fancharacter created by an author known as GTK from way back in the day. ^o^ I loved her NiGHTS AU fanfiction. She took NiD and gave it a Dungeon and Dragons twist, and created an incredible epic fantasy. *happy nostalgia* Sadly her work isn't available online anymore.
My early screw ups were figuring out the bosses. I remember cursing at Jackle because he flew faster than me XD Then I figured out how to manuever around the cards and pwn him. XD I had the same problem with Reala until I figured out by accident that, as a game boss, he's dumb enough to fly right into your paraloops. XD

LUCKY, I never got to read the guide, my E-bayed copy didn't come with oneThe only mistake I had whenever I first got the game was that I didn't drill dash enough. I bought the game about an hour from where I live, so I read the guide the whole way home.
