(The video basically just says what I'm going to say here.)

I'm having problems with video editing. The Windows 7 version of MovieMaker does something weird to the audio where it speeds it up slightly, desyncing it from the video and making my voice sound strange. Windows Vista MovieMaker didn't have this issue. I bought a video editing software, VideoShow Expressions, to counter this problem, but the file format my Flip camera records in, MP4, is somehow incompatible with VideoShow Expressions, and the media converter program that came with it does nothing to help. If anyone has any ideas on how I can solve the audio problem, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks! ~Jess

I did a little bit of searching on the web and it sounds like a lot of people are having this same issue.

I found this website that might have a solution. Here is what it says:

Windows Live Movie Maker is supposed to be able to edit .MP4 files. However, it turns out that the particular 'flavor' of Flip's .MP4 files is only kinda sorta compatible. They import fine, but when you play them, the audio is speeded up, and out of sync with the video.

Not to worry. Here's what to do:

1. Export the videos from FlipShare that you want to edit with Windows Live Movie Maker.
2. Rename each file, changing the extension ".MP4" to ".MOV".
3. Import the files into Windows Live Movie Maker, which is also compatible with .MOV files. Audio and video are now in sync.

Tried the "renaming" thing. It doesn't work.

This has happened to me, but with .avi files. Go figure.

Download a converter. I personally like the altervista YouTube Downloder (It's the first result if you google "youtube downloader.") It converts and downloads youtube videos, which is great if you need stock footage. Anyway, convert the mp4 files to .wmv (Windows Media Video). Those always work with windows programs like Movie Maker. :D

Let me know if it works. :)
