Usually my dreams (and those of people I know) tend to be weird, self-contained little epics that are rarely, if ever, revisted. In some cases, entire dreams will be repeated, but that's very rare. What happpens to me occasionally is a recurring theme. For example, I've had several dreams in a sort of dismal park of Georgian architecture and rusted playground toys that was apparently Disneyland(!), a brick train station, a futuristic, floating shopping mall in China, and a road in a pine forest with a Drive-In cinema. None of the dreams have had the same plot, just the same locations. To add to the weirdness, I keep having dreams that I'm Sid Vicious! It's never doing anything particularly interesting, either. In one I was Sid shopping for a fur coat and a Nintendo DS shaped like a compact, and in another I was just walking around outside a brick baseball stadium, and I had to get in via a complicated system of pullies and platforms. Inside was a labyrinthine factory that I (now Nancy from A Nightmare on Elm Street) has to explore to find Freddy and pull him out of my dream.

So, have any of you had a theme repeat from dream to dream, and what might it mean?

Well, usually my dreams are totally unrelated to each other each night, but there are things I've noticed that come up now and again.

Some locations:
-A warped, dark version of my old Catholic grade school.
-A shopping mall, in which I have never been in in real life, but it's always the same darn mall in my dreams. (when I have these "mall dreams", I'm usually looking for or chasing someone or being chased.)
-A park with a fountain, which seems based off of the park/fountain I live near. (it is ALWAYS night when I'm here.)

There are other places that I've seen more than once, but these are the ones that stick out like a sore thumb. There are other themes, but I can't think of any off the top of my head, so I guess they don't stick out as much.

Recurring locations:
- my old elementary school (constantly changes; could be normal one night, then based on Pokemon the next)
- my old condo complex (constantly changes; whole in one dream, has a portal leading to bloodthirsty pirates in another; has been the site for 2 Zombies Ate My Neighbors nightmares in the past; or the place could just be rundown)
- an exitless music hall (might be related to the concert hall here in town)

Recurring situations:
- Having the exact amount of money I had in the real world, unable to buy something like a Dreamcast. (Might be like this because the need for logic in reality becomes integrated in a dream. Thus, I'm subconsciously more willing to accept it.)
- Fear. Just being someplace with a ton of danger. (Last night it was a foggy planet where the nearly-blind inhabitants speared any intruders.)
- "Video game" or "movie-like" dreams. I can either move things with a controller (I have seen load screens...) or just 'rewind' to an earlier point in the dream.
- (Edited this in.) Climbing or flying to get someplace high up or just beginning somewhere high up. The latter seems to always end with a chase sequence. This is ironic since I have a fear of heights and falling, yet being up in a high location makes me feel safe. That's a strong possibility because of the following points:

1.) When playing video games as a kid, that one out-of-the-way place high above couldn't be reached easily. You had to earn your way up there. ...I've got enough OCD to get there. >_>; (Ex. Spyro the Dragon's bonus realm, Super Mario RPG's Nimbus Land, and the obscure Vexx.)
2.) Up, up, and up. That's where you go in life to keep going.
3.) Somehow, I got it ingrained that being on the ground usually isn't a good idea in a dreamscape. This is mainly because being on the ground sometimes results in facing terrifying things like dinosaurs, floods, and general pain. (This was probably all helped out by the Sly Cooper trilogy...)

[Am I trying to evaluate myself while listing these occurrences? Why yes, yes I am.]

That's all i can really think of at the moment...

The same goes for me. I'm always in the same fantasy mall with a chase involved. Odd. :D

My reccurrin' theme is pretty much many different locations while in a dream state. Here are the only locations I can come up with:

1. At my old house (I was living in a forest when I was really little)
2. At my school (Sometimes in the old campass, sometimes at the borrowed campass)
3. In a fantasy world (Like in a different dimension or somethin' like that)

Now here are the reccurin' types of dreams I've had even now:

1. Fantasy Dreams (Like you're able to fly, or able to cast spells)
2. Mystery Dreams (Like when somethin' mysterious happens)
3. Super Dreams (Like you are savin' the day every step of the way)

That's all I can think up at this point.

My recurring themes are:
1. My cat escaping outside (total panic)
2. Fighting off villainous forces that are trying to take over the world (or at least the neighborhood), usually not by myself
3. Bad guys have taken over, but I try to resist them covertly.
4. Must protect/save a child/animal/other helpless person
5. Escaping something bad
6. School
7. Going on a trip with a group of people (family, friends, or unfamiliar peers)
8. Exploration (usually alone)

I have a very long term recurring dream that I'm in jail. Its kind of scary how much of my dream life I spend in jail...

I also have recurring characters, mostly Government officials who hate me, family members and game characters.

I dream about video games a lot, these days mostly Dark Savior, when I was younger it used to be Alex Kidd and Sonic. I have a recurring, very boring dream about shopping for video games.

I have so many dreams about people from my old school it annoys me. Every night for a month I kept dreaming about this one teacher (who I hated) walking down this one corridor (which I also hated). It annoys me how mny times the waking world dominates my dreams. I want to go to nightopia in a lucid state, meet and dualize with NiGHTS, fight Jackle and play with the pians. It just angers me so much
